Happened to me too. It was driving me nuts. It seemed like an intermittent alignment problem and that doesn’t exist. After the second trip to the dealer I found this thread and that explained it. Filed a case with Ramcares before the third visit. Service tech couldn’t duplicate but I showed them this thread. They kept it a day, confirmed the problem, and ordered a new rack. I Never mentioned the Ramcares case but maybe they were involved. I hope to have it back in a day or two. I don’t know if Ram is realizing there is a larger problem, my dealership is just good, Ramcares, or all the above. Whatever I am very relieved at this point. I guess I have to take my name of the trouble free trucks thread but I still feel that for a brand new design truck, my problems have been much less than expected.
I will say that temperature, speed, angle of turn, and the alignment of the planets seem to affect if it happens. But there were certain points on my commute where it happens all the time. Like any steering problem the faster you are going the more obvious it is. I have a 70mph curvy road on my commute. The scary part is that it would go out so bad that lane correction could not correct it. It would just drift into the left lane. So I had to turn that off because it became unreliable. On my first visit they fixed the alignment so that had made things worse. Just be polite and keep at it.
