ROUGH starts on cold starts?

Tell them they need to give you a loaner pickup and park it overnight and start it cold the next morning.
This is what I did and it took them like 3-4 weeks to find and resolve the issue but they finally got it fixed.
They basically only get one shot per day to troubleshoot and implement a fix and then retry the following morning to see if it's been resolved.
Mine required the replacement of two injectors (on my brand new pickup) but hasn't had the issue since.

yes, my dealer is very good about giving me loaner's. I dont worry about that part. i just worry about them having it for a week and it not doing the same thing.

I think I may get the violent shuddering/"bucking" fixed this Friday the 28th. There is a TSB that relates to it on the V6 Pentastar. I wish I noticed that before I brought it to the dealer last time. @RamCares I will message you the details and look forward to any assistance you can provide.

Here is a screen shot of the TSB and one that shows what, "the customer may experience" in regards to this TSB on the V6 e-torque.

So while picking up my new Longhorn after getting flip type hard cover installed at an after market shop I remote started it while they were explaining the removal process when low and behold I heard the fluctuating idle. It has 600 miles now and is 1.5 weeks from new dealer purchase. I never noticed before because I always remote start 5-8 minutes prior to when I would get into the truck, it’s Texas and I like a cold truck. That gave me pause but not concern until this morning when I started while I was inside the cab and as soon as it was put in drive with a easy foot on the brake the truck started to lightly lurch with the idle fluctuations. Now I have concern. Will be texting my truck salesman next...

Thanks Wolf, what exactly am I looking at here and how can I see this document it is full state (not screen shots). I am picking up my truck tomorrow from the dealer and they were unable to find any codes or duplicate my problem. of course.

Sorry for not updating this sooner but better late than never.
They replaced my oil filter, then the air intake sensor, then finally two injectors which finally remedied the issue on my truck.
No issues since then.

FYI: Mine did not have the issue in cold temps as I believe the cold temps trigger the computer idle the engine at a higher rate negating the chance for the truck to idle rough. In mild temps was when I was experiencing the issue.

Is yor truck still good Nicodywill. Mine had rough idling and almost stall issues on startup as well, and has been into the dealer for all of the relevent flashes an recalls, including the rough idle one. I got it back last week, only to have it do the rough idling and almost dying again on me the day before yesterday. Also, my truck intermitantly will just "idle" rough from time to time, like I can feel it shake every now and then upon initial starts. I am taking it back to the dealer the week of July 8th, and have suggested for them to look at fuel pressure and injectors (per your success), as there are no CEL's or stored codes that I can see.

I am also having this problem with a 2019 Ram with 5.7L with ~1700 miles purchased on 6/6/19 (April build date). I park my truck in a garage in FL, so very little environmental factors too consider other then ambient heat. And being in south Florida, my AC is always on.

When the truck has been sitting overnight and I remote start it, the idle will fluctuate greatly for the initial 20-40 seconds it's started. Which i thought was odd but did not seem to be an huge issue since it would clear up relatively shortly and never stalled.

But today I did not remote start the truck, i jumped in and started it and put it in gear, which then caused the truck to lunge forward unexpectedly even with my foot on the brake because the idle/RPM was increasing for no reason. I then drive for a bit and came to a stop sign at which point the truck was trying to lunge forward because of the varying RPM. It did clear up after 30 seconds or so.

For me this is a huge safety issue since i park in a garage with kids, etc around and i can't have my truck uncontrollably trying to lunge forward when i am in gear. I don't think i should have to make sure i remote start the truck for a minute before i used to make sure it's safe.

I've read through this forum and don' t see a TSB related to this and the 5.7L, am i missing it?

Below is a video of it after it had been doing it for a few seconds, initially it was worse fluctuation. I'll try to get some videos of it over the next few days and post them up when i do.

I had the same issue. Complained for 5 months, was told nothing was wrong. The kept brushing me off. I would leave my truck at the dealership overnight for them to work on it in the morning and was still told, "could not replicate." I had to leave a note on the steering wheel for them to not throw it into gear and give it 10sec. They had my truck for a month and after 'fixing' and failing to diagnose they finally replaced all 8 fuel injectors Sept 12. The truck would still rev and the tach needle would jerk around but it wasn't sputtering anymore. I told them this and was told that the truck was just cold (it was in the fall after all.) I contacted Ram and they spoke to the dealership and said that I have not contacted them about it since picking it up in Sept. It has started sputtering and revving again in the last month after it sits in the sun for the day....not so bad when it's a drizzly day or less than 20deg. I dread having to go back to them with the same issue. I traded in my last vehicle for this one because the other was a lemon.
Anyone else know the long time results of this? Will I have to keep replacing the fuel injectors? I am NOT paying for it since the issue starting 3 months into having the brand new vehicle.

I had same issue there was a tab for it. They reflsdhed the pcm and trans.

I just dropped mine off to have the tsb performed. My truck idles very rough and I've had it stall 3 times now. I will update in a few days after I get it back so I have a chance to make sure everythings fixed.

Bring them the TSB and have them perform the update, it worked for me.
