Front end clunk while turning - FIXED - TSB # 23-047-18

Can you guys feel the clunk underneath your feet in the floorboard too? Its very faint.
That is exactly where I feel the clunking noise. I just took it into the dealer today and they are telling me two weeks until they can look at it. I didn’t spend $73,000 to drive something that feels like it is 10 years old.

Anybody heard any clunking noises while turning? I can replicate the issue fairly easily. Doesn’t happen every time but often. Not sure if it might be air bags, control arms, etc but definitely sounds suspension/steering related. Wondering if it’s something that will break in or a problem I should have looked at.
Same problem here with a Rebel with air suspension. 3,000 km in and the noise and clunking is getting worse. All started while making left hand turns and is not happening fairly regularly.

A clunking noise started in my 3 week old Rebel, under the front of the vehicle. My issue was not related to turning; it made that sound when going in low speeds. It ended up being TSB 02-002-19 (loose sway bar). Thanks to this forum, I was able to easily figure out what it was. Showed dealer the TSB and they applied the fix. No more clunk.

Dealing with this issue right now. I took mine in today to Beaman Dodge in Murfreesboro TN and they did the 3 recalls that were open and stated "Could not duplicate noise". I begged them to go for a ride with me and they wouldn't do it. I called RAM and got a case # but they said they can't make them do anything. I went ahead and contact Dealer I purchased from and here is their response...

My name is Paul. I am one of the service writers here at Steve Jones. I have a copy of the email you sent to Craig so I am aware of your concerns. I would like to set up an appointment with you to get the vehicle in and have it inspected. As far a loaner vehicle, we do not have curtisy vehicles here. I can set you up at enterprise at a flat rate of 35.00 a day. Once the vehicle is inspected and a problem is found and is deemed warrantable, then we can get you a loaner vehicle at no cost to you. However, if you go into a loaner through enterprise before the vehicle inspection is completed, and no problem is found, then the loaner vehicle will be at your expense. Please give me a call tomorrow and I'll be happy to go over everything and set up an appointment.

No need to apologize to me my man, didn't mean to single you out at all, just trying to keep things organized for the forum's sake. This thread turned into the TSB thread a long time ago, but obviously not many people are going to dig through 46 pages to find out where it split (I probably would, but I'm a weirdo). The problem is, someone's going to take this TSB number to the dealer and say "replace my end links", and then come back on the forum and say the dealership is crappy, or still have them replace the body mounts when the problem should have been diagnosed properly as end links, or something like that.

Also, side note, noticed your sig, I'm moving to Naples literally next week
I have committed an entire work day to reading this thread. This has been quite the thread. I guess that makes me a weirdo too!
I had the clunking issue and was told it was due to a loose sway bar link that had to be replaced. I feel like this thread has gone back and forth on different solutions 4-5 times but i have enjoyed the process. I will be picking up my truck today so time will tell if it fixed the issue.

Hi, do you feel a rattle behind the steering wheel besides the clunk.

Truck currently sits in the service department overnight and I'm in a loaner. Service advisor is telling me they believe the clunk is coming from the rack and pinion but are not certain yet. He said they have had a difficult time pinpointing the issue and the rain here today is making it more difficult to diagnose during a test drive. He already gave me the "it may be part of the design" bit which I ain't buying. Should not be doing what it's doing and i'm sure not all trucks are doing this. I'm hoping anyone else having the issue will chime in and we can share any solutions that come up. I am hoping they are able to spend more time with it tomorrow. Also, any advice escalating issues with FCA would be helpful since that's where I'll be going if the dealer can't come up with any solutions.
Hi, do you feel a rattle behind the steering wheel besides the clunk.

Add me to the list, 2000 miles. I’ll have to get it to a dealer soon. Glad I found this, hopefully it will speed my fix up.

Do you feel a rattle behind your steering wheel in bumpy road. Turn off your radio and verify. Please if you feel or hear the rattle reply.

No. Just a “clack” in the front end when I hit a bump or throttle into a steep hill. One thing that makes it happen every time is pulling on to a low curb, say 4” and driving off of it. Clacks every time.

Thank you. Need to find a good local dealer. Bought the truck out of state.

I took mine in yesterday. I got a call today saying they needed to replace the rack and pinion. Noise was there when I turned left and right.

Hi, do you hear a rattle in front when drive? Feel like a loose steering column. I have a rattle and feels it’s coming behind the steering wheel Something loose in the column. When I turn to right with my truck detained I hear a grinding noise. Only in that side.

2019 Limited here, Oct2018 manufacture date. I have the clunk under the footwell too. Slow turns leaving intersections, driveways, parking lots etc cause the sound (and feeling).

I dropped it off to the dealer this morning and they said there was a Bulletin out addressing a similar problem. They just fixed a truck last week with it. They said once verified, the part will take 3-5 days to get in. They did not mention the part or Bulletin. But at least I feel confident they will get it fixed.
