Since i’ts been confirmed that 2022 Ram 1500 will support Uconnect 5, do you think that 2019 Ram 1500 owners will be able to update their system to Uconnect 5. If not, do you think we will be able to replace our current infotainment aiment system with the new Uconnect 5 version?

Info: I currently own a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited.

I changed the uc5 module from 2022 to 2023 and now the maps do not work, check with alpha and I get this code, any ideas

This is the 2023 module that I currently have, the only thing that changes is the GPS connector

Hope this helps in fixing it.

Do you know how I can solve it?

  • When Monitored:
With the ignition on and the Radio in navigation mode.
  • Set Condition:
This DTC sets when the Radio does not detect a Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna connection for greater than 60 seconds.

Possible Causes

BAD ANTENNA CONNECTION
OPEN GPS ANTENNA CABLE
OPEN GPS RADIO ANTENNA
RADIO

1. CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTION

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  1. Disconnect the Antenna connector at the back of the Radio.
  1. Inspect the Antenna connections.

Are the Antenna connections clean and secure?

Yes

  • Go To 2

No

2. CHECK THE ANTENNA AND CABLE

  1. Connect the test antenna Antenna, GPS GLONASS 9977-6-GPS-GLO to the antenna connection on the back of the Radio.
  1. Make sure one of the front doors is still open.
  1. Using the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
  1. Turn the ignition on.
  1. Turn the Radio on.
  1. Using the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.

NOTE: While using the GPS test antenna the Satellite radio reception will not be available and Satellite radio faults may occur. The GPS test tool will only enable GPS reception to work. For Satellite Radio reception concerns use test antenna 9977-6-SAT

Does the scan tool read: B1562–13–GPS ANTENNA-CIRCUIT OPEN as active?

Yes

No
  • Go To 3

3. TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE

  1. Disconnect the Antenna cable at the base.
  1. Connect the appropriate Adapter 9977-6-1 or Adapter 9977-6-3 to the Antenna cable at the back of the Radio.
  1. Connect the appropriate Jumper 9977-6-4 or Jumper 9977-6-2 to the Antenna cable at the Antenna base.
  1. Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.

Is the resistance above 52.5 Ohms?

Yes

No

Ok i have read this thread more than once and found part #’s. Supposedly all the info needed to do this swap is in this thread. My take is that I have a 2021 with the 12.1 uconnect 4 (1500 not HD). and to do this upgrade I would have to get a 12.1 screen from a 2022 or newer and a radio module from a 2022 or newer. Where I’m still not sure on is the wiring. Would I only need the LVDS cable From Jimmy07 and change the MY with AlfaOBD to 2022? Or is there more to it? I also saw something about 2 connectors ( I believe pink and burgundy) not having a connection on the 2022 radio module. Any concrete answers on that?

I have the same question, especially wondering if the 12” 4C screen will work with the new radio.

so as @Jimmy07 has stated, it is possible with the right stuff, but you are limited in function, and gain almost no benefit.
Need different LVDS cable Fakra type ????
Need different 12 in screen than 19-21 Fakra type ??? LVDS

Need complete retrofit harness @Jimmy07 is the only one I know that knows anything about this.

what you lose:
OTA updates
in-car WIFI
Remote Start via APP
E-911/Assist
Well I’ve read and read (on a small iPad) and can’t see why you lose Wi-Fi. Can. You direct me to a page or section addressing this?

How is that different from this? Besides price?

No idea. Both sites are third party, but I am assuming you pay less with infotainment if you already have the 12” screen.

I was under the impression that replacing the 2021 12 uc4 was a PITA? And almost not even doable?
Replacing it to a UC5 is a PITA and almost not even doable..

Replacing with a phoenix aftermarket android radio is easy.

P.s - looks like infotainment.com has released an easier to install drop-in upgrade kit to upgrade to the UC5.. when I last looked into this there wasn't anything of the sort.. so now replacing with either OEM or aftermarket are both pretty easy to do, just a matter of what you want to pay.

sorry but I would never install an aftermarket radio in my ram I don't like it if someone comes up and tells me that it's not the original right 🤣
