Should RAM ditch the knob shifter ?

At first the Knob shifter was weird in my 2016 but now after a few years of ownership and in my 19 I would have it any other way. So much faster to select desired destinations.
I had a 2012 Ram with the center shifter and it was cool to rest my hand on but took up a ton of room.

I guess it truly depends on the vehicles purpose but for the Truck world it works perfectly.

Has anyone driven a Benz? My brother has one and I hate it lol that little lever I feel like I’m going to break it every time I drive it. Push to park gets me every time!

Cool my knob pops out a little and doesn't always change gears now. What a great knob. Love the knob. "Service Shifter" on the driver HUD. 3k Miles on the Ram now, mostly highway.

Personally I don’t think it makes a difference between a lever and a knob, but I’ve had multiple people tell me it’s turn off and I see their point. A truck should have a lever.
The knob is more ideal for cars,

Anyone here if you have high connections
Let them know

2020 should be the return of the lever
I have the Durango and love the knob.

So today I dropped the dogs off at daycare and couldn’t get out of Park. After a lot of fussing around for 30 minutes I was able to get it into D. So I brought it to the dealer, and bamboozled the service manager. But, they gave me a Durango to drive in the meantime. Now the question is : who in their right mind makes a 2017 vehicle and doesn’t have a backup cam?

Quick guess....sensor on the brake pedal malfunctioning or being intermittent?

Actually it’s more in the knob . It’s pulled out sometimes and turning the knob doesn’t always change gears properly. Sometimes one knob click doesn’t move gears and sometimes one click will move two positions. Truth be told it probably is just loose and needs tightened.

Gotcha. And your correct, I can't believe they have a Durango without the backup camera

The Knob is fine... prefer the extra console room from not having the stick shift.

Once I got used to shifting manually with the gear up/down buttons, it was off to the races. The Rebel, Rebel TR and TRX should come with paddle shifters.

This is my first knob. I hate it. I know some people like it, and that's fine, I get it, but a month and a half into owning my ram, the knob still drives me nuts. Granted, after driving manual transmissions for 15ish years, my soul aches whenever there's only 2 pedals on the floor, but I grew used to the silverado's shifter on the column. When maneuvering in tight spaces, turning around in my driveway, etc, shifting between D and R was natural and I never had to give it a second thought. I still struggle with the knob.
Practice makes perfect. You'll grow to like it.

Paint protection film is definitely worth the investment. A quality film installed by a good installer is practically invisible and will last with no issues.
Just a quick note for those of us who ordered the white trucks. After a while the film edge will show more and more as dirt gets trapped there. According to the shop where I get my tint done (he does work for several new car dealers for many years now) you can prolong the time before the line is visible by keeping the truck clean all the time but eventually you will end up with a black line along the edge of your nice white vehicle.

I have 2 of them and it is very easy to use. Took a few weeks to get used to but I like them.

That is something I hadn't considered but does make sense.

We find it very noticeable on vehicles with a PPF edge in the middle of a panel (like the hood). When talking with my wife about whether or not to do it on this truck, it's the first thing she pointed out. It's definitely a tradeoff of protection against damage vs. the expense and potential replacement every few years.

The other possible issue is creating a wear/fade line in the paint—especially across the hood—where car washes, road grit, and the difference in UV exposure (due to PPF having UV inhibitors to prevent yellowing) can create a noticeable difference in 'protected vs. exposed' over a few years' time. This can be minimized with religious paint care, but let's be honest...that doesn't always happen.

To be clear, PPF is a very clean way to protect a vehicle. It's also expensive. So you can go with partial-coverage PPF to gain some protection but risk it becoming noticeable, cover panels fully (at significant expense), or forego the PPF and deal with the inevitable touch-ups and/or repaint if you hang on to the vehicle for the long term.

I have a white vehicle and have had the PPF on there for about 4 1/2 years and I don't have a black line. I do take care of my vehicles but sometimes can't wash it once a month.
