My 2020 truck is having the same issue. It started doing it at 1,000 miles. I found a TSB for the 2020 so I am going to take it in and have the dealer take a look at it.
From my experience, Any tranny programming is good for a few days and then it comes back. I think it's an actual hardware problem and not software. I'm addressing this issue on Friday and will let you know if the Drive shaft grease fix is going to fix it.
I've just been living with it. Everytime I drive the truck I feel it and it sucks. Just not worth my time to keep trying to have them fix it. Horrible excuse, I know. But I am just so busy. I really don't have time to deal with it. Wouldn't be so bad if my dealers offered some kind of loaner AND if they weren't 3+ weeks out on transmission work. Just getting an appointment is a hassle as well.

Hi all,

Please know that I am more than happy to get you set up with specialists who can provide both you and your dealer with further support as you address this concern. @Rototerrier - if it would be of interest, you may also call in to our Customer Care Team as they can work with you to find a different local dealer who can potentially get you in sooner. The number to call for that would be 866-726-4636.

Our team is always a private message away to get the process started.

PS - Thanks for the assist, @HKP7PSP!

Just got my truck back after the dealer did a PCM and TCM update. Seems a little better.

Report back in a few days. I've had this done twice and it doesn't last.

What about ins this last couple of days? hows the truck doing? still better? you don't feel that "bump" while coming to a stop? My 2019 truck is still at the dealers and I can ask the dealer to apply this TSB.

The bump I was feeling only happens when I was slowing down and then having to get back on the gas when the lights turn green. I haven’t been able to reproduce it since the update. Hard downshifting is still there but definitely better then before the update. Will update if anything changes.

Got my truck back from the dealer yesterday. They did the PCM update after I told them that the problem is probably the drive shaft not greased properly, they claim that the "drive shaft tsb" is not applied to my truck and they can't apply this tsb under warranty. They want to charge me for it.
I DON'T NEED TO BE CHARGED FOR THIS.
@RamCares , please help me escalate this case to a higher level.

Hi @MannyHen - Would you mind following up with me via PM to provide your VIN, contact info, and dealer name? I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf for further support at this point. Hope to hear from you soon!

Than you much, mine is also still there but not much as before...also I received my truck back today from the dealership, they said they found "Some play in right ball joint and strut. Tighten every thing possible. Test drive and feels fine"...I still feel the vibration, little less but still there....the latest TSB does not apply to my truck has they said it has the latest software..... So...I guess I will get to use to it.

I was wondering if you guys have tried this if you creep to a stop very slowly it seems like there's no hard down shifts on my transmission. I also drove in tow haul and the downshifts were some what smoother.I saw a guy talk about the wheel speed sensors and the computer not communicating like they should. I noticed when I had my truck in tow haul mode going at speed and I slowed down fairly quickly the transmission would have a hard downshift and it shift from 5th to 3rd gear. then I did the exact same thing and slow down very slowly and there was no hard downshift and it went from 5th the 4th the 3rd.

I am a little embarrassed to say I think I figured out the reason for my downshifting issues. I was playing around with the controls on my radio and found myself on option that said hill assist and I'm not sure how or why it was on. So I turned it off and the hard downshifts were gone. I can't wait to drive it tomorrow while it's not raining to double check that the issue is gone. I'm feeling pretty dumb for not looking through those controls earlier. I'll keep everyone posted.

I’m experiencing a condition where, while coming to a stop, the transmission shifts down pretty rough between all gears starting with about 4th gear, regardless of how light I am on the brakes. Then on takeoff, the engine seems to lunge the truck forward, despite trying to feather the gas pedal.

Truck is a 2019 Ram Big Horn 1500 DT Quad Cab with the 5.7 Hemi V8 VVT w/ eTorque.

@RamCares, can you please post a copy of TSB 21-005-19 Rev. B (or any newer superseding TSBs)? I have seen someone else mention this TSB for a similar issue and I think it may apply to my new truck. I have a due bill for a couple of items and I’d like to bring this issue up at the appointment as well. Thanks!
I have the same truck as you and I've noticed that when I'm decelerating and coming to a stop the downshifts are definitely more pronounced than other vehicles...I wouldn't call it rough though. Would this be considered normal..?

I've been having this issue for probably 6 months and then yesterday I was driving through some hills in southern Ohio and I noticed going the hills my truck didn't want to shift going down without putting my on the gas. So tonight before leaving work I was playing with the radio on the controls settings and saw hill assist was on so I turned it off and I think the hard downshifts are gone. Which makes since after reading about this option. I'm going to drive my normal routes tomorrow to make sure that was it. It was raining so hard and the roads were flooded to get a good feel.

Mine would do the hard downshift coming to a stop going into third it appeared on the display. One time I thought I was rear ended it was so hard. Took it to the dealer thousands of miles ago and it has mostly disappeared. Feel it a tiny bit still but nothing out of the ordinary I think

Are you talking about hill start assist? That's the only option I have regarding anything "hill" related. All that is the brake holds the truck in place while on an incline so that when you take foot off the brake it doesn't roll backwards. Or are you talking about hill decent control?
