Front end clunk while turning - FIXED - TSB # 23-047-18

Hello guys! I am one of the lucky ones with the "clunk" unfortunately :( but I am scared to take it to the dealer, you know how it is you take it to the dealer and they tend to worsen the problem rather than fixing it! Do any you know if I leave it the way it is, would it affect my truck in any way? I hate the clunk but the people from the dealers worry me more sometimes that the actual issue.

thank you so much in advance guys! this forum GREAT!

The TSB is well known at this point so there is no issue . I hesitated with having no real known fix but this is well know now

Wow! so you still have the clunk after the TSB?
No. It didn’t fix the noise I sent it in for. The noise I had was bad sway bar end links. They thought it was the tab but it wasn’t. I had the clunk and made it go away myself.

Really? How did you make it go away yourself?

I just returned from dealer this morning, had my first oil change, and mentioned the front end clunk/floorpan noise to dealer. I also brought a printout of the TSB. The service man was cool,as he didn’t need to drive it to verify noise.....he said customer/I diagnosed the problem.....and he ordered the parts required to fix it via the TSB.

The parts are on back order from Detroit he said, and would give I a call as soon as they arrive,to set up an appt to repair it.

Very happy so far with service dept! Have dealt with same service dept for my other Ram trucks for over 15 years. That being said,I purchased my 19 Ram over 60 miles away, and service dept in town has no prob spinning wrenches on it.

Shame my new Rebel has the front left clunk immediately out of the showroom.

Okay guys I’m having the same issue under my driver side. Got under there while a buddy rocked the truck and can duplicate it 100% if the time but just can’t pinpoint it. There are 40 pages to this thread and I only got 5 pages in before losing my mind over how many people have this problem. Can someone save me 35 pages of reading here and help a brother out?

Sorry but i find this thread confuseing! My 19 Rebel has the clunk specially while turning left or running over a bumpy road i can feel the bang under my left foot, But when i reed the thread and complains then read the TSB description it doesn’t match my problem! So can anyone please advice what TSB fixes my problem thank you all.

People post we ask a question what’s the build date and people never answer.

What is your build date. The TSB is on here

If you are rock My the truck back and forth and can duplicate it I bet you have the same problem I had. I had the clunk and I had sway bar end links that were bad causing a more replicated sound. The end links were causing a noise that would happen all the time while driving or turning or going over bumps.

Then there is the clunk. This is while turning into an incline either up or down. You could also replicate it while turning quickly either direction and making the body rock.

The new isolators are hydraulic and not solid rubber. So they must have an issue with the way the hydraulics work. They claim that after 10 build date they are ok but you can verify this by going under the truck and seeing if the part number on the isolators have a part number that ends in AB or later.

The tsb is for the clunk and if you have it take it in and tell them it’s a no diag needed or replication needed for trucks within the dates of the tsb. If you have a dealer that disagrees then find a new dealer

Mine is replicated 100% of the time I try by rocking the truck back and forth. A buddy got under there and said it feels like the driver side sway bar mount. But this TSB shows the bolt for the cab in question here being in close proximity to the sway bar. It goes in tuesday morning for the laundry list of electronic problems (2nd time, all unfixed) so we shall see.

If yours is like what you say then it’s the sway bar end links like mine. I could do the same to replicate it .

My 2019 Ram Limited (Early Dec build date) also has the front end clunk when turning or on bumpy roads, but it does not happen all the time, even when trying to force it to make that noise. According to the TSB referenced here, since mine is a late build it is not covered by this TSB. Is there another one out there for the later model builds?

No there isn’t but the one we experienced was only while turning onto incline or decile. Basically any articulations of the body caused it
