Front end clunk while turning - FIXED - TSB # 23-047-18

Glad to hear I’m not thinking or feeing things. Have about 700 miles and have had a club I when turning
Right primarily. Going to take into dealer this next week and have them take a look. Did get the extended warranty foR this new beast now time to see how they do.
 
If you tried to torque without taking them out then you aren’t retorting them because the red lock tite. You really need to take them out and use a torque lube on the head.

If you didn’t break the red loctite you didn’t do anything
I’m not trying to be condescending but I’m a FCA level 3 tech I know how to torque these bolts. I completely took the isolators out put them back in and torqued and noise was still there. Noise did not stop until I “modified” the body.

I didn’t modify the body. I just took the a piller and b pillar isolator bolts out. Cleaned out all the red loctite, cut the a pillar bolt shorter and sprayed wd40 all up in there and finally put a thick washer under the vertical black bolt closest to b pillar on the support bracket. Took me all of 15 mins to do and haven’t heard the noise since. Has been over 300 miles and a week. I am not 100% sure it’s fixed because I’m paranoid but it’s been clunk free since and it brings a smile to my face I didn’t have to waste time at the local stealership

First off wasn’t intended for you. Second off quit getting you’re feeling hurt. This is a forum where we talk and discuss. If you feel you need to talk qualifications we can. People do that though and it’s pointless. You get your feeling hurt too easily to be as qualified as you say.

Obviously there are other fixes because the others having the noise gone have not done what you did.
 
Seems like there is a progression of potential fixes.

1. Check all suspension bolts
2. Back out then torque isolator bolt to spec
3. Remove bracket and bolts. Clean, lube and torque
4. Remove assembly and check floorboard and modify as needed.
5. Take it to the dealer and pray for a fix..
 
I thought the same thing about the lower body mount bushings. I took pictures of the gap under the isolator that 19Ramlimited mentioned. You can see the clean area on the bracket where the lower bushing occasionally comes in contact. The bushing appears to rotate, which indicates it’s loose at some point.
Wonder if you get the noise without turning? Because I do
 
Does anyone here have a go-pro with a magnet mount? Are the rubber isolators visible with the vehicle in a drive-able state? Maybe a video will provide further evidence of what's happening if those are the problem.

I’m done with this specific thread. First off I would say I’m the one who guided you in the direction of the a-pillar body mount being the source of noise anyways. Weren’t you the one who asked for the torque spec? Good luck everyone on finding your repairs for your noise. Direct all questions towards @19RamLimited. He probably has direct access to FCA.

Objectively speaking, when someone offers information that information is made more credible by their being qualified in the field. Qualifications do matter, and @Delmonico_19 ’s expertise has resulted in serious forward movement against this problem.

A lack of stated qualifications does not mean someone is wrong either, you have something valid to add as well. I read his response as a statement meant to convince you that the cause of the problem is not only due to your claim of poorly torqued bolts. Retorquing has worked sometimes, but not always. Hope you guys can sort out your differences, we’re all on the same team.
 
My dealer suggested that I wait until a TSB is issued. Is this something you think I should wait on or go further?

I am not a trained technician, so I can't give you any advice as to how to proceed. We do work with the dealer but ultimately, we rely heavily on them for vehicle information. Feel welcome to send me your VIN as I'd be glad to get this documented for further handling.

Wasn’t sure why you hadn’t heard back from him for a while. (y) Ah right, that works too... where’s my “embarrassed” emoji? :rolleyes: <-to self.
 
@19RamLimited Thanks for the pic. So cutting down the bolt won't do any good right? Unless the floorboard is severely misstamped.

I don't think so.. that pic is with a 1/4 inch spacer I added. It didn't make a difference. I believe there is just a fault there. I would love to hear from immersivenc if his truck is still quiet and if they replace only the two isolators near the front under where our feet are

I just try to find solutions and make sense of things, Thats all I want, I want an answer I am an engineer and there are problems and solutions. So I want the solution to the problem. I believe that there is movement in the plate that is causing the noise. That is why I think the torque made that bracket tighter to where it sits and thus less movement. Also to delmonicos fix it pushed the bracket up tighter to the metal making for less movement .

Anyways just trying to find commonality. A fix. If I can see the new isolators I can better understand what the revision is and possibly the fix.
 
@19RamLimited Gotcha. I haven't been hearing my clunk (right hand turns onto elevated driveway, mostly) since my last service where the dealer tightened all my suspension bolts. But I am following this because it is such a strange issue.

This exasperates the issue even more. Because the people that say their noise is gone each have a different solution. So more to my point of finding common ground on all fixes. Did all fixes include tightening the isolator bolts? Its just information I am after.

Just to add some the fixes I have read on this thread
Removed bolts cleaned and lubricated and retightened
Replaced isolators
dented in area close to isolator
Tightened suspension

Just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

I have still not heard the clunk after getting my truck back. Not once, not even a slight one.
