- Video that the Ram website doesn't show what features are removed when adding the tow package.

Somebody get the smelling salts for that horse! This feels like we can get some more mileage out of her.

Before I bought my Limited, I got pretty good at reading the Monroney labels. They spell out that you get the camera and power folding if you don't get the towing mirrors.

I get it this entire form isn't for complaining its about making sure that new people are notified about the removal of the features. I understand it is in print on the window but this was my first ever Truck purchase. I don't keep updated on all the Ram Trucks and their features, and feature removals. We're talking about the general public who don't frequent this site and other Ram Forums. I did see this text on my purchase after the fact. I still love my truck. I feel like someone should have informed me I was paying $400 to have $4000 of features removed. I went through the sticker but didn't go through it line by line letter by letter simply because I didn't think I would have features removed. This is my fault i take full responsibility. I'm not asking for a new truck. This is here to simply HELP.

Hopefully there will be a way to swap the mirrors once the 2500s get going, though you may still have to pay for them.

As far as window stickers and website not mentioning the delete, FCA may very well ha e an issue on their hands under general co tract law.

I posed this same information on another Forum to see if anyone else was un aware. I'm curious how many people knew and how many people were oblivious about it. I am sure the Limited is going to bring a bunch of new truck owners in because of all the new technology and comfort features. We will see.

For some of the early adopters, there was quite a bit of confusion over what the trucks did/did not have, however, that has not been the case in quite sometime.

Lots of other threads about people being upset about not reading the sticker and making sure the truck had everything they wanted prior to driving off the lot.

I knew exactly what I was/was not getting when I went looking through several trucks.
Everything the truck came with (or without) was clearly indicated on the sticker.

There is nothing to 'resolve'... your choices are to enjoy what you have or trad it back in.

Can you possibly point me to the first post about the tow mirror issue so I can reference it to Ram? I curious when this started The earliest post i could find is the following

The real question, imo, is was there a proper monetary deduction on the MSRP price between Tow and the 360 and power mirrors, or were we you charged the same amount? On my sticker the MSRP was for advanced safety group was $1,395 where it listed the surround view camera, then of course had the "N/A w trailer-tow mirrors". I assume there was a deduction for the more mundane mirrors and the lack of 360, but I am not sure. Not to throw fuel on the fire, but my salesman prior to purchase told me I had 360 surround. I did not check to confirm that so I guess that is on me, or at least that is how FCA would see it. If you happen to get some movement on this let me know but otherwise I am fine sticking with what I have. Now, if there was no monetary deduction I received for less inferior accessories I may have an issue. I'd feel a bit "bait and switched" in my situation.

To me, this is what most of the frustration is. There is no monetary deduction for losing the 360view for tow mirrors, the tow mirrors actually make the truck more expensive even with the advanced safety. You opt the advanced safety, then lose the 360 and power fold when you get the trailer tow and do not get a price reduction for the loss of those functions and pay more for the tow mirrors! If you did get a reduction for the loss then first of all it would have been easier to realize the loss and secondly it would be an easier pill to swallow so to speak if you did want the tow mirrors. IMO

I fixed the link for ya.

I do believe that is the first about surround view and tow mirrors.

If you haven't already, take a look at this.

I am doing my best of getting a hold of someone at FCA or Ram. I tried social media and the RamCares.com website and they promptly closed my ticket when i raised awareness of this issue. I went back to my dealer today and spoke with them. I told them I want them to make sure all new buyers are aware of this $400 tow package debacle and make sure new customers are aware of what they are getting and losing. My dealer had no idea that it removed 360 surround view, or power folding. They also didn't know that it cost $400 to get the tow package and there was no discount on the features that were removed. I told them I wanted them to forward my email to their managers and representatives at FCA and Ram. I also told them i want someone to call me so I can talk to them directly. I referenced this and several other form post that I am not the only one who had the issue. I will keep you updated on what i hear back and if they do find the time to help me I will make sure to reference anything they tell me. I don't have high hopes but it is a start. The General Manager said he would do his best to move this to his FCA/Ram reps.

I also wanted to say thanks for everyone who is posting on this because the more people we get posting and raising awareness the more likely we are to get something done. Thanks!

I hope it works out for you and all of us! Either way, I'm trying to focus on the positives of this otherwise awesome truck but it is a raw deal for those that didn't exactly know the realities of selecting the tow mirror option and that you would be giving up premium options for a standard mirror AND paying more for doing so.

Add me to the list of disappointed buyers. Not enough to trade it - and probably will end up replacing the mirrors. Surprised infotainment hasn't noticed this and figured out a way to make a kit to add the front camera capability to these trucks. Seems like it would be a minor addition - add the front camera/emblem and turn on the function via a firmware update.

My communication was with someone on twitter and through the Ramcares.com website. You are correct i never communicated with @RamCares through this forum. I wasn't even aware that it existed on this forum to be honest but if you're willing to help it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for clarifying. Please know that when a tow package or other packages are added, some of the standard features are replaced with the optional equipment, which will be reflected on your window sticker under the "Optional Equipment" section. If your dealer sales representative did not adequately explain the differences in equipment, I am very sorry for this, and I would recommend speaking to the sales manager regarding what you were told so they can address your concerns directly.

I have already spoken with my Sales Manager and General Manager but there is nothing they can do after the car is sold. My main issue is that my dealer and their sales team were completely unaware of these features being removed and the Ram online website does not tell you the features are removed WHILE you're building the truck (I am not sure what it says after you complete the purchase). Also there is a significant amount of money (features) being taken from the customer and in turn saved by Ram by adding the tow package. The customer pays and additional $400 for a tow mirror and a trailer brake but losses out on 2 important features that could cost about $4000 to have installed aftermarket. I am aware of what the sticker says (N/A with Tow Package). However, if my dealer is unaware that features are removed shouldn't we assume the customer would be unaware as well? I need to know that Ram is going to educate their dealers and tell them that customers purchasing the Tow Package should be informed of what they are losing. Since you are unable to return or exchange a New Car after it is sold without significant monetary loss. I hope you can understand our frustration with feeling like we got some what taken advantage of. @RamCares.

This is inaccurate, and it's not a dealer's fault.

My Monroney is completely unclear about what features are on the truck. My truck is an August build. It states nothing about having 2 different option packages conflicting, one of which does not indicate it deletes a feature and the other explicitly stating it has a feature.

It states "STANDARD EQUIPMENT (UNLESS REPLACED BY OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT)"

Then under options, it states "OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT (May Replace Standard Equipment)"

Under the black package it states:
"...
Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats
Power Heated Mirrors, Fold–Away
Rr 60/40 Folding Split Recline Seat
..."

The Tow Group Package states:

"Trailer Tow Group $400
Power Chrome Trailer Tow Mirrors
Trailer Brake Control"

I also didnt realize the tow mirrors didnt power fold. I take responsibility for not looking closer when I bought truck. What gets me is the fact that the tow mirrors aren't heated!!!!! And also dont auto dim. It doesn't say ANYWHERE on my window sticker that they aren't. Just tow mirrors replace power folding......... I had a 2014 Ram with same mirrors and they were heated and manually folding so figured these were the same.
So with that who @RamCares can answer that??

This is actually the reason one of my friends didn't buy his RAM. He did the research and found out that the tow pkg deleted the 360 view and that was his decision not to buy. Stuck with his Denali. You have to go into the deal expecting the dealer to be incompetent. Sad but true. I think my salesman was more interested in his cell phone than my deal. Glad I did all the research before I bought. Even ran the vin of the truck I was looking at online to make sure it had the features I wanted.

I think the most frustrating part is I did a ton of research but never saw this issue. I was mainly looking up known issues with the Ram (reviews...etc). I wish i would have dug deeper or joined this forum but I never expected Ram to remove features. I'll be much more careful moving forward. Live and learn I guess.

My frustration now is that everyone at FCA/Ram that I have contacted about this they just ignore me. My dealer was the only one who was willing to listen. This frustrates me more than missing out on features.
