Guys you can buy all of these parts from the dealership now except for the Uconnect radio module/brain. The screens and bezels Brand New are way cheaper than people are trying to sale them for on this forum.

The last of the parts I ordered arrived today. I was waiting on the module/brain and the screen. ECS Tunning has the module 68317978AF listed on their website but they actually ship module 68317978AI. The price is $896 before tax this was the biggest expense of the mod but you know you're getting a new working module. I bought my screen new from Dallas Dodge and bezel at Dodge City of McKinney. I know your asking why 2 different dealerships the bezel was $60 cheaper to drive 15 more min. Everything works I followed instruction from post 309 I used Alfaobd on Android phone. Another quick note if you have manual AC controls you will have to use Alfa to switch your climate Vehicle Configuration 3: HVAC Configuration: Dual Zone ATC. Thanks everyone who made this possible through this forum. IMG_1136.jpeg IMG_1135.jpeg IMG_1140.jpeg IMG_1143.jpeg

Great work!
Yes, I’ve been telling people that the screen and parts have come way down in price. You can buy the base 12” under 500 now. Brain is still the questionable part, being you can’t just buy direct and well they cost a bunch.
Folks, if your buying a used brain some suggestions.
Use PayPal just in case it’s the wrong one! I’ve seen a ton a part numbers not listed for the 12.1 but actually listed for 8.4. Please keep in mind if anyone tells you the 8.4 will work on the 12.1 is wrong due to its lacking connections on the brain (12” has some more sports to plug in, and one plug that stands out as 12”) So, please make sure you check your numbers before you spend 600-800 on some new part! Also, I’ve heard some of these come back as stolen parts. Super sad when people rip others off. So, be careful.

sorry, some of you have messaged me, I’ve been with family. Sadly we had a death. I’m sorry if I have not answered questions asked in a timely manor.

Actually, there is no visual difference between the 12” radio module and the 8.4 nav radio module. They both have all the exact same connector ports on them.

Hummmm. I could have swore the 12.1 had more open connections. As I got some photos from another person (well two). Again why the brain is difficult. I’m not an expert.
Then how do we really tell if the 8.4 and 12.1 brains are different? Any idea?

From my understanding the base part# is the same for the 12.1 brain/module which is 68317978A the last letter be it F, I, H or whatever is just a revision in the part Example 68317978AF is a good brain for 12.1 68317978AI is a good part# the last letter is when the manufacturer makes some kind of change to the part. If the first Numbers don't match chances are the part won't work for the 12.1. ECSTunning has the correct part its $896 before tax brand new people are trying to sale them here for $700 and up used save the $200 more and get a part where you can get a refund if its not correct. If you're doing this mod and you've spent the $1500 it takes to do this mod saving or spending $200 more won't hurt for peace of mind.

Here’s some part numbers to differentiate between 12” radio modules and 8.4 nav radio modules. The last letter of the part number does not matter. Canada market radio modules will work fine in a US market truck. HD radio part numbers will work fine in a DT truck, and vice versa.
12” radio modules:
68429170Ax- 2019/2020 DT UCX (Canada market)
68329882AJ- 2019/2020 DT UCX (Canada market)
68429169Ax- 2019/2020 DT UAX (US market)
68317978Ax- 2019/2020 DT UAX (US market)
68378394Ax- 2019 HD UCX (Canada market)
68378392Ax- 2019 HD UAX (US market)

8.4” radio modules:
68429166Ax- 2019/2020 DT UAV (US market)
68307655Ax- 2019/2020 DT UAV (US market)
68307656Ax- 2019/2020 DT UCV (Canada market)
68381425Ax- 2019 HD UCV (Canada market)
68381424Ax- 2019 HD UAV (US market)

Thanks for the clarification on this hopefully this will help those hoping to do this retro. This by far is the most expensive and most difficult part to find and having more part numbers should help in the hunt.

I bought Fakra connection cellular and wifi antenna from amazon both work but then I talked to ATT customer Service about adding the WIFI hotspot Service and they said it couldn't be done without the VIN# so Im guessing all of this is tied to SiriusXM Guardian. If anyone has been told anything different or know of another way around this please let me know After this I called Sirius and they had the select package for $5 a month for 12mths plus $1.99 for the travelink so I added that to the 3mth trial that I have going now so that takes care of the radio until march of 2022.

I have WiFi on my 12” transplanted into my 2017, but it is in demo mode. I did have a UAV installed that came from a wreck, and all I had to do was open up the WiFi app on the screen, and set it up. It assigned a cell number to the radio, and gave me a 3 month trial/xxGB data (whichever came first). It never asked for a VIN, and I don’t believe it’s associated with the WiFi service. It’s definitely not associated with guardian.

Now Im puzzled!!! When I select the SSID in my truck open the app. Then go to my phone to sign up it ask for my VIN I put my VIN in and it tells me the VIN isn't compatible. So I call the customer service number provided and they ask for my VIN. Im going to try my radio in demo mode.

Could you send links to what you bought? Was it obvious where these plugged into?

Just went back and looked at your post and I see your trying to get travelink going after I enabled travel link in Alfa I had to unplug the battery cable to get it to work. Before I installed the antenna yesterday my cell signal was at 2G with little to no signal until I went into town after I installed the antenna I got 4G LTE. As of now everything works except for my hotspot I tried to go back to demo mode but it wouldn't let me I reset the radio to default and now I don't even get an SSID to sign into. Ive read several other threads and I can't figure it out. I can even call the assistant through the radio so I have no idea what's going on with the hotspot someone said on another thread that it would come on when it get ready lol they said just keep trying. FYI I bought 3 of those antenna stuck them to the top of the ac vents under the dash.
