Alright guys,
I finally installed the rear view mirror and the LED CHMSL and boy is it rewarding.
1. I didn’t even take off the headliner. I ran a cable wire runner that I’ve used before to run cables through inside my walls inside my residence. I only took out the weather stripping from the driver side front and rear to fish out the wiring, which I started from the rear CHMSL, and kept running it towards the front of the truck. It took some time but at least I didn’t have to worry about taking off any bolts/screws to drop the liner.
2. taking out the factory rear view was super simple and followed the same instructions that were posted on the thread about wiring a radar detector through the rearview located here -
https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/hardwire-radar-detector-to-rear-view-mirror.718/
3. The fakra cable that is purchased through Amazon SUCKS as you have to move the cable around when both parts are connected to see where you can finally see the image. This took the longest and trying to rest the cable on that certain spot was a pain in the a** once the new mirror was mounted. I had to move up and down, back and forth the fakra cable that goes connected to the rearview mirror itself but finally got it in a nice spot to where it turns on every time.
4. to install the new rearview mirror was a pain as I believe from the website I ordered it from, the mounting teeth on it were more closed than the stock mirror so it was a bit of a pain to get it and turn clockwise but after a few minutes of messing with it, it finally was secured.
5. Thanks to Jimmy’s information, absolutely no coding was needed to be done. Not even the LED CHMSL. I didn’t get any codes or messages and everything worked FLAWLESSLY (after moving around that fakra cable and installing the rearview).
I will take photos during the day but I am HAPPY this actually worked out. Hopefully it stays working though as that Fakra cable has me a little worried. I need to see what the part number for the actual OEM wiring harness is to connect the CHMSL and the rearview just to have that piece of mind that it’s working 100% at all times
