I was also quoted a $500 "Maryland processing fee" from Criswell. They make it sound like Maryland mandates it, whereas I'm sure Maryland puts an upper limit to it. I was also told current orders are 21's.

Found another Rebel in SoCal $60k msrp with 9% off (so 55k). Fewer options than I like but the “best” overall deal unless I can find the right truck in another state and ship it here. Too bad the configurator online only lets you search up to 150mi radius. Any advice?

So this is what I did in my current search for a 1500. I went into Google Maps and created individual 150 mile radius circles and just covered the map in them. Then, looking at the center of the circles, I found the closest town and then looked up it's zip code. With the exception of a few instances, the circles don't overlap, and I made sure that any area of the US that wasn't within a circle wasn't a major metropolitan area (if it was, I created a new circle, thus some circles overlap). Anyway, long story short, I created an excel file with all the zip codes that I search (see attached). So basically, all you have to do is input each zip code (51 total) into the Ram's Inventory Search, and in essence, there's your nationwide search.

Call me crazy, this is just my way of doing things. In my case, I'm also tracking inventory levels (just for the options that I'm looking for), which is interesting to see how they're fluctuating. Granted, the inventory search on Ram's website isn't 100% accurate, but it makes do.

I have a tentative deal on a 2020 Big Horn that is still In-Transit to a dealership.
If there is no hangups this is the agreed upon price....

MSRP: $49,305 (Invoice: $46,408)
Dealer Discount: -4,500 (3.45% below invoice)
FCA Rebates / Incentives: -7,000

Total: 37,805 (23.32% below MSRP)

With deals getting harder to come by, I decided to jump at the opportunity.
I could have waited for the '21 models, but I don't believe I could get near the 7k in rebates that I get right now.
I am content with 23% off msrp and a 2020.
Hoping to pick it up next week or soon after.

Check out Bluebonnet Ram in New Braunfels, TX. They have two black appearance Rebels more loaded than what you test drove (have MFTs and Ramboxes, etc.) and dealer discount is over $5k without even trying to negotiate plus rebates.

Agree I haven’t seen anywhere close to 20% off a Limited or Longhorn. In TX rebates are only $1500 and highest dealer discount I’ve seen is 13.39%. I can get 17.04% off with the paltry rebates and adding on $1000 USAA cash so I’m just waiting. This time last year Ram was giving 25-30% off Limiteds.

Heminator,

I've been to Bluebonnet in NB twice in the past month and nobody would even greet me as I scoured the parking lot for 30+ minutes. Same for Yaklin in Sequin. I've also attempted to make meaningful progress towards a purchase via email with Bluebonnet and cannot get anyone to respond to me aside from a single generic, copy+paste initial email.

They really must not want to move these trucks that bad. Lastly, my father-in-law that bought a Laramie Longhorn last year called his salesman directly to get them on the move.....crickets. Hopefully others have better luck.

Crazy right? Same story we keep hearing from others too. While it is somewhat location based we still hear it from folks all over. It really makes you wonder how much profit these dealers actually make. Small Inventory, but still just sitting and they don’t even bat an eye.

I assume dealers have to pay FCA for these lot vehicles within 30 days of delivery. Maybe they don’t have to until they sell? Not sure how that works.
And it seems to me they prob make more money/profit on the sale when the FCA rebate/incentives are better.

It’s the same out here in California. Half the dealers won’t even respond, others just send their generic “come into the dealership” email. Very few will actually respond with the information you’re seeking.

If you don’t mind driving a bit, check out Heberts Town and Country in Shreveport LA. They have a pretty decent selection and always provide a fair deal. Ask for the internet sales manager, Jason.

Does your OTD include taxes & fees?
Can you break that down in more detail?

MSRP: $62,240
Dealer Discount: -
FCA Rebates / Incentives: -
Dealer Fee: +
Taxes: +
Title: +
License: +
——————
OTD = $ ______

Just curious. Sorry it didn’t work out.
Yeah it was disappointing, been doing this since April so one day my patience will prevail. I forgot in haste and did not include my $1000 deposit and an emailed $500 ram coupon (good till sept 30). So $56,584 OTD TOTAL
Dealer discount is $7013,
Rebates- $2000.
HoldBack was $1816. They split with me so $908 (I negotiated hard for this because their fees were non-nego & high)
Fees- $821
Taxes/Tag/Title- $3444

Edit: forgot to include this price was "sale/customer order protected", so it is the max I'm obligated to pay upon delivery. If rebates were better in Aug or Sept when truck arrived I'd obviously get those as well. I felt this was solid offer in these times

this is a good deal, so approx 18-20% off msrp? What dealer is that?
Funny about this. The orig quote for this custom order came from AtlantaWest CDJR, but I was ordering from Paulding CDJR as I brought the quote to them to match. Better gut feeling with the latter dealership. I will say I have been relentless working with diff dealers (online and in person) and seeing if they'll match. Shopping around and being patient has really paid off (price wise), although I still have no truck on order yet...

Disclaimer: I do not work for them nor have any financial interest in BB. That said, I did purchase a 2019 Pacifica Limited from them and it was a great experience and price. Contact Matt Fraser (Sales Manager) at [email protected]. I can also give you a salesman's e-mail/number if you want as well.

Holdback is what you're referring to and there's a lot to it but suffice it to say that holdback is an amount that the manufacturer pays the dealer to offset the finance cost of his/her inventory. Every day the car sits on the dealer's lot costs them in financing as part of their overall floor plan. For FCA, it's capped at 3% of invoice so once a dealer holds a car past that, they're eating those finance charges 100% which is why they want to sell from their inventory as soon as they can. Now in this environment where inventory is low, dealers are pricing their vehicles higher so they're probably not as concerned about the holdback since they're making more money off the actual sales because there are still more buyers (for the moment) than there is inventory.

Thanks, I'll take what I can get for someone reputable.

The last 2 vehicles I've purchases was entirely online (including one while in Helmand province, Afghanistan) without issue so I know it's entirely possibly considering the establishment and staffing of "internet sales teams." Like many of you, I'm not playing this game and I've decided to wait it out until things become somewhat reasonable. Though tracking inventory in the general area is becoming more favorable, prices and dealership attitude is not.

I’ve noticed this too. I’ve been doing a nationwide search for the last couple of weeks for trucks matching some of the specifics I’m looking for, and just within the last few days there has been a large Increase in trucks that are in transit...so the factory seems to definitely be pumping out a lot of trucks.

Regardless of a seemingly uphill battle with many of us finding the right truck, just a reminder of how valuable all of your input is on this site. Thanks for continuing to lend your support for each other.

New to the forum and i'm in the process of ordering a truck shortly (within a week hopefully) but I have one question id like to get input on from experienced buyers. I'm not in a rush for a truck nor do i need one ASAP so i can wait if it makes sense to do so. Finally found a local dealer that was awesome, walked in and within 10min I had my truck spec'ed and they offered me invoice + the full hold back on a 2021 Laramie 4x4 Ecodiesel which i thought was amazing considering the last 3 dealers told me MSRP is what you pay if you order a "custom" truck. I was hoping to order a 2020 but that seems to be off the table. The price I received seemed pretty good but since it includes NO rebates, i feel like it could be a lot better if ordered at the right time to take advantage of some rebates. Since it will be one of the first 2021s to hit the dealer, i feel like ram wont have rebates on 2021s when it arrives. Its all a gamble, no one knows exactly what will be available in a few months but based on history, i don't think many manufactures offer great incentives on first to arrive models. What do you guys think? Order now? or wait till most 2020s clear the lots? Am I losing a few thousand in savings if i order now vs. later in the year or spring? If it was a 2020 I would have already ordered.

Nice. I agree good deal. Similar to how mine worked out. What’s nice is there is no sales taxes for me since I’m in NH. Registering it will prob be about $800 though. My deal is also protected like yours:

MSRP: $58035
Criswell discount: -$7545
Tread lightly.org: -$580 +$100 mem fee
Sale Price: $49,910
My Rebate as of 6/2020: -$1000 (20CL1) & -$1500 (20CLA1)
Dealer fee: +$300
Total price: $47,810

Invoice minus holdback is pretty decent right out of the gate, and is typically an uphill battle with most dealers. So congrats on that! You are correct that incentives most-likely won’t be all too great on the 2021s once they hit dealer lots September/ October. There might be something, but they won’t be that impressive. Being a Laramie, there’s a better chance of seeing some incentive, compared to the upper trims such as a Laramie longhorn or Limited.

How “custom” is your build? Do you have any options or combination of options that are typically hard to find? I say that because the factory is still pumping out 2020s and will continue to do so until the end of August. So there is a chance that dealers could still receive a 2020 that checks all or most of your boxes.

When you say spec'd was your dealer able to show you any information on the 2021s? Supposedly the dealer ordering books are out but we haven't seen any information and it's still not up on the ram site. That said, what the dealer offers you for a price when you order shouldn't change whether you order now or months from now as it has nothing to do with current rebates, etc.
