I have a 19 ram 1500 ,
I have been trying to figure out the howling whistling noise on my truck for awhile now. Have tried a few methods and ideas I’ve seen on this forum but still couldn’t figure it out... until yesterday I stumbled across something. I was on the highway doing 110-120 sometimes more when passing. The noise worsens the faster I go. While enjoying the beautiful ram whistle I accidentally pressed my driver window down button and the noise stopped. I wasn’t sure what just happened so I started playing around with the window and found that if I bring my window down a hair so it is not fully seated in the window track all the way up til it stops, the noise goes away! I could make the noise come and go at will by seating the window fully up in the window track (noise) and releasing window just a hair without exiting the track (no noise).

Hi just got my truck 1 month ago and discovered this annoying noise and after reading these post i new i had no chance at the dealer so i got on the problem my self..i noted that wen it rain the bottom side of the window get wet in a way that the rain drop wanted to come inside.. so i decided to install a wind deflector...so from working in ventilation i got this idea..i took the vent shield off and boflex 4 inch dryer outlet and slid in the up part of the mirror it simple finger nail pull..so i took a ride and the noise is complete gone or almost..well i will do more adjustment (((but i no the source of the noise is there))))..probable to make a more angle curve..here is picture of this try out..
have you had any more success with this

Wind noise FIXED!!!!!

If your experiencing a "tea kettle" type of whistle that usually starts around that 40 to 45 mph and doesn't go away. It usually changes with the recirc button, but doesn't really go away. The sound seems to be coming from the dash windshield area.

Before we found the actual problem here's the things we tried with no success: Replaced windshield, Replaced recirc actuator & door, Replaced Cowl vent panel, Tried caulking & sealing around windshield.

If this sounds like your truck it sounds crazy, but try this:
Inside the cowl panel on the drivers side, there is a seam where the two layers of metal meet. We trimmed off the "spray foam" around the plastic plug and used seam sealer to re-caulk the seam and around the plastic plug. Once it dried, we put the cowl vent panel back on, went for a drive, and NO NOISE!!!!

Hope this helps at least one person out there struggling with the same annoying wind noise that has been driving us nuts for months!

Here's some pics:

OK just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I finally had enough of the noise and just used duct tape over and around the foam/door thing you posted and my noise is gone! wow what a difference on the quick test drive!

Can someone link to an appropriate sealer...expoxy....caulking I could use on amazon that would be the best bond?

Mad respect again for you posting this a few times in the thread as this worked for me and my wind noise. Also...I left the cowl and wipers off on my test drive and it started to rain....not hard but still not my smartest move lol. I can't say enough how much I appreciate again that you posted this! Was so worried about having to have the dealer tackle the noise and scratch/mess something up!

Now to get something to caulk this door in properly. Also I noticed right of the door you posted their is a small lighter sized vent with appears like rubber flaps. any idea what that is?

spoke too soon, need to experiment more, i put the cowl and wipers back on this morning and my wind noise returned. so maybe my silcone was not enough or the cowl changes the direction of the wind to the real source of the wind noise.

So yesterday while driving my son back from the skatepark, frustrated i could still hear that wind noise I grabbed a microfiber towel from my center console and stuffed it into the front driver side corner along the gap between the dash and the windshield and the noise went away. So I can clearly tell that is the spot the air leak is. I assume you could seal it in by going through the front cowl method or I think as someone has noted the from the inside at the dash.

I've tried reaching my hands up under the cowl to seal it off but its a tight area and I don't feel like removing the wiper motor assembly. I think i'll make and use a rubber gasket at the windshield area and call it a day. Glad to finally have a potential fix.

My wind noise which was coming from it sounded like the front driver side a pillar/windshield area was solved by shoving a rag down in the front between the windshield and the dash. Can't see the rag and all is quiet now. thankfully.

This thread is about to turn 2 years old and it's apparent that RAM doesn't care about finding a fix for this issue. Working with RamCares has also been a joke.

It seems like the noise i was hearing was coming from the tires . When I drive over the white pavement paint the tires make a noise. Guys , check that out !

It says Q2 but we are now into Q4 but I was not able to confirm if the software has been released. Maybe @RamCares can confirm
Thank you for the tag, @Morenar. There was recently a revision made to the STAR technical case you posted. I have attached that here and kindly recommend following up with your servicing Ram dealer for the most recent info regarding when this update will be released.

I'm guessing that this "software update" relates to probably closing the HVAC ducts a little tighter maybe? Or are we getting another radio update so the system is even louder to just drown out the noise? LOLLLL

LOL, I notice it on my 2021 that I picked up last week when driving higher speeds. If I push the recirculation button to off. The wind noise stops. So the fix is not on my 08/20 build.
