I think you are right on the etorque not adding any wheel motion if the auto shut off is not activated due to climate control. That lag is really annoying at best. Today I thought I was going to bump a car in front of me as I was pulling into a parking space when the engine shut off for half a second then kicked on causing a lurch forward. Your GT is a nice looking ride!
So correct, there is no etorque forward assist after a stop if the truck doesn’t meet the criteria for an auto stop. But I would get that checked out if that happened to you.
The etorque only shuts off the engine when your foot is on the brake (among other criteria) and I know it does rolling shutoffs but again a certain amount of brake pressure is required to allow that.
If your foot is on the gas (or just coasting and not on either pedal) it should never just shut off regardless of speed. It restarts within something like 400ms after taking your foot off the brake BUT there is no half-turn forward movement after a stop/start UNTIL/UNLESS you press the accelerator.
So you should definitely NOT lunge forward just cuz the engine started back up. E.g. like at a light when the engine decides to come back on for heating/cooling. It sits still until you move back to the gas pedal, not when your foot comes off the brake.
I pull into my garage “uphillish” so I don’t like the engine stopping and starting when I do that so I just hit the button when pulling into my driveway now. (Formed a habit so I don’t think about it no mo) but I’ve never had the feeling of possibly hitting another car out in a parking lot whilst pulling into a spot. So again, I’d have that checked as it’s not sposta do that.
