Since i’ts been confirmed that 2022 Ram 1500 will support Uconnect 5, do you think that 2019 Ram 1500 owners will be able to update their system to Uconnect 5. If not, do you think we will be able to replace our current infotainment aiment system with the new Uconnect 5 version?

Info: I currently own a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited.

SUCCESS!! I finally have a reliable wired CarPlay connection!!

Turns out it had something to do with the USB hubs. I'm guessing there is some sort of conflict with the rear hub of my 2019 and UConnect 5. After pulling the data line from the rear USB hub, all works exactly as it should. Deleted the phone from device manager so it wouldn't connect wirelessly, and CarPlay comes up within a couple seconds of plugging in the phone.

I noticed through a parts search that the front HUB on 2022 and up is a different part number. Not sure that is the reason, but for now I'm fine with just leaving the rear data disconnected.
Sorry, just trying to clarify, by rear hub are you referring to the USB connection for the rear seats, or something behind the radio module? Sorry trying to problem solve the same thing you outlined above but don’t have near as much experience in this area. Thanks

The hub I ended up disconnecting is the one for the rear seats/back of center console. I pulled the data (USB) connection but left the power in place.

Did you do change the year of your truck in the BCM?
If you did try resetting it back to original.
When I did my upgrade I had the exact same problem. Backup lines would disapear anytime I turned the truck off and then I had to turn them back on each time.
Went back into my BCM settings with AlpaOBD and changed the year of the truck, saved and reset back to my actual year and this problem went away. Now my lines act exactly as they should.

I did when I did the upgrade, I thought for sure I had read somewhere that it was necessary when upgrading a 2019 to Uconnect5. I may have also got confused when researching upgrading to the digital cluster 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️.

I’ll go back in and set it back to 2019 and see if that works.

I think it was only needed if you had 360 surround cameras and had swapped the CVPM in order to get those to work correctly.
I do not have the 360 surround on my truck(2021) and the rear camera did not work till I upgraded the bcm to the year of the radio. In my case it was a 2023 radio. I tried 2022 first and it still did not work. So yes it is needed.

Must depend because I dont have 360 either, my truck is a 2019 with just the standard backup camera. Had the 5" most basic radio with out even the Sirius XM. My back up camera worked immediately with no problems with the 12" upgrade which also came from a 2023 truck. Radio, module and even the instrument cluster from the same truck. I only changed my trucks model year in the BCM to see if I could get turn by turn directions on the cluster working.
Thats when I noticed that the back up guidelines stopped working correctly. So I went back and changed the year of my truck back to 2019 and everything started working correctly again. So to declare as a fact that changing your BCM model year is needed for the upgrade is misleading and inaccurate.
