TSB #24-001-20 A/C Fix. Has anyone had it done yet? Plus are you happy with the results?

You bet.
My son’s Tacoma spews ice cubes the second you turn on the engine. Literally cools down the cab in about ten seconds flat.

We paid almost a third of the price of what my Limited cost, yet the AC in that thing will run circles around my RAM, even with the TSB fix.

One of my friends in highschool had a Dodge Omni. To this day, that car easily had the best AC I've ever experienced. I remember seeing our breath fogging within a minute of turning it on at the height of the Kentucky summer!

I have had the repair done and my vent temps will only get down to 47F...Anyone else had this done and can post their vent temps on the center vents? Curious how mine compares post repair on a 70F degree day.

Anyone have there dashboard vents completely stop working? Mine just stopped working

After having my truck back for a few days I have to say I don't really notice much of a difference. The air coming out of the vents seems to be about the same as before and I would hardly say it's freezing cold like any nice vehicle I've ever sat in. I guess for now I have to wait till a super hot day to see how it holds up. I was really hoping for some freezing cold air to be shooting out of there.

Alright, they finally called me today and I rode an hour and a half from work to pick it up, the new dash looked good but the 12 inch Uconnect was not working so back in the loaner again, they also missed the three other repairs they were suppose to do, needless to say this is BS to have my truck 11 days and not have everything done, complained to them and more importantly, and firmly, to FCA who needs to get this fixed right.
Having to go into a brand new truck and do a dash replacement is bad enough and to already have failures immediately after the repairs reinforces my stance that they should extend the bumper to bumper. I have not owned the truck a month at this point...has anyone else had any luck getting a comped max care warranty?

I have a 2020 Rebel.. AC seems to be fine... but it takes several minutes before it does anything when I first start it up, you know, when the truck is actually well into triple digits. I've taken it up as a quirk, maybe a penalty of some environmental reg on car makers. So I start 'r up remotely when it's really hot. Is this normal, or a symptom of this TSB?

The only car I've had that requires this. (And the only car I've owned that turns on the fan on cold mornings, versus delaying it until the engine comes up to temp, which is actually so dumb, I just assumed it would NOT turn on the fan on hot afternoons to stay consistent)

No worries glad to share, if you guys are on the fence about doing the AC TSB because of damages fears I would say just take plenty of pictures of your truck inside and out then go for it, the guys at KVille CDJR said they have a "Dash Guy" for these jobs.
Another note is I just had the "Dash Pad" (instrument panel cover) replaced which requires a complete disassembly of the entire dash, for the AC TSB they should be pulling the "Dash Assembly" (instrument panel) out which is far easier, quicker and less invasive. The service manual says "Remove instrument panel and place on a workbench"

They had my truck 14 days, Yes I bought it there and they gave me a loaner but,,, keep in mind I have a brand new truck <1k miles and they did some other items as well as a dash cover and had to order additional parts vs the AC TSB you guys are trying to get done so you probably can't go by how long they had my truck. check through this thread some guys got their ride back in a few days.
They are pretty good to work with don't know how far you are from KVille but your going to have to make it by there so they can get it approved anyway, once there you can ask them if you are eligible for a "rental" they don't call them "loaners" probably a legal issue and how long they think it will take to get your truck back.

I had my AC with recirc on and it got to around 50 after about 10 -15 minutes with the thermometer in the driver side vent while driving. Then I turned off the recirc and it immediately went to 58 and drifted back to 54 in a couple of minutes and never got lower. Outside temps were about 84. Taking my 2019 for its initial check tomorrow based on the TSB.

That's about what mine runs after completing the TSB...Stays around 49-50 with those ambient temps.

I live south of Greensboro about a 40min drive. I purchased the truck in wake forest about 100 miles away. My two biggest concerns are getting a loaner and finishing the job when promised.

I am literally "walking distance" when I am at work from Sport Durst and live not far from Westgate, I still took the hour drive to KVille , I generally do all my own work here at the shop but when RAM owes me they owe me

They even attached the photos I provided to the work order documenting the temp differences between the passenger side and middle vent. They are ordering the parts and will be completed early next week. I was surprised when they said this was the FIRST truck that came in because of the TSB and they were not aware of it. So I was glad I had the TSB number handy when I set the appointment up for today.

I'll provide an update after the work is completed. Hoping to see some improvement.

My truck went in yesterday at 7:30 a.m. for the TSB repair. The dealership called at about 2:45 p.m. today to tell me it was done. I picked it up a while later. So far, no rattles or obvious damage. I can't say with 100% certainty that the dash actually came out, but the paperwork says it did. If so, I can't tell it now. According to the repair paperwork, that is one invasive repair. I did find one small screw on the drivers floorboard. I'll have to try and find it's home.

We had an 80 degree sunny day on Friday. While I was out that afternoon, I stuck my thermometer in the vent to the left of the infotainment system and registered between 53 and 55 degrees. The vent on the left registered from about 42 to 44 degrees. Holding your hand in front of each of these vents, you could feel the temperature difference. On the way home from the dealership this afternoon, cloudy and about 65 degrees. I ran the A/C, and the temps out of these vents felt comparable, but who knows for sure. Got a nice day coming up Friday, so that will likely be my next test day. But, so far, so good.

Just got the call from the dealership saying it passed the "cooldown test". This is my 2nd attempt to get the TSB and second blocked shot.

I'll have to see what my FCA Case Manager says but I'm not hopeful. The first round was the same result with the Case Manager siding with the dealership.

The only thing I did different this time was take a copy of the TSB in for them to see/have and start an FCA case before the appointment.

My A/C is disappointing and is the only real sore spot I have with my truck. At this price point is should be a lot more effective than it is for me.

The dealership has been good to me since I've had the truck (I did not buy it from them) and, even though they are pushing back on this, have done right by me on the other 99% of things I've brought it in for. This is my 9th visit to them since I've bought the truck. The first 8 were under the basic warranty and they gave me a loaner every time I brought it in so they are better than most in my book.

It is bittersweet as I won't get my A/C "fixed" (pending my Case Manager telling to pack sand) but I also won't have my dash ripped apart. They also are going to replace my gas tank for my filling issue so I can't be completely disappointed.

If I happen to take it in for something else and the weather is hot then I'll complain about the A/C again. For now I'll live with it and enjoy the fact that it's still light years better than my last truck.

A simple video of a thermometer in the various vents with the outside air temp display in view should be sufficient. Show them how the supplied air is only 50-60 instead of 35-40. (Or whatever it is....)

Those thermometers are only a couple of bucks.

The old "low on freon" thing is easy to say. (<- Hey, they may be right...hence the thermometer. Facts are better than feelings.)

i find that people who have those thermometer in their vents are anal...they think set it at 72 and it should be like your home,,,not going to happen
