Avid readers of MoparInsiders.com and 5thGenRams.com will remember that back in May, we were the first to announce that the RAM brand was bringing a new G/T Package to certain trims of its 2022 Ram 1500 lineup. This morning, RAM officially announced the new package coming to the 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel, Sport, and Laramie trim lines.

Does the Rebel retain the ventilated seats with this package? Havent been able to get them in the Rebel to date.

Ooh, good question. When I ordered my 2022 Rebel in late May, my dealer rattled off the details of the G/T package (shifter knob, paddles, CAI, etc.). But he never mentioned the ventilated seats. I might have added the G/T package, purely for the ventilated seats (if it is truly available). But I guess it's too late for me now...

So the way I am thinking here is this will attract those guys that want some of the aesthetics and feel of the TRX but at a roughly Laramie/Rebel price? I know they threw in the cold air intake but even with the performance pages and the manual shifting, you are going to be looking at your 0-60 times at like 7 secs?

Why do you need a console-mounted shifter if you have steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Seems redundant to me and it takes up a lot of console space.

I do like that they are finally adding the Mopar Ram Airflow cold air intake married to the Mopar Cat-Back Exhaust System. (y)

They must have finally got CARB certified.

Hopefully we finally get to see the specs from Mopar on what adding the Mopar Ram Airflow CAI and the Mopar Cat-Back Exhaust System add to the HP and torque of the 5.7 HEMI Engine.

This looks like the same sport hood that we have seen on other sport models so no active vents.

If Ram is going to have a GT model let's get some active vents so this baby can really breathe. :devilish:

My only other complaint about this G/T Package is why would you ad the extra weight of a Crew Cab configuration only with an eTorque mild-hybrid assist.

For people looking for a G/T package in a truck you would want to drop the weight of the truck as much as possible so that we would have a quicker time on the track and the road.

So make this package available in a Quad Cab with no eTorque.

Come on Ram Engineer's who exactly is your target market here???

I also skipped the G/T package. I like the rotary shifter but I would have like the paddle shifters though an maybe the bucket seats.

Most options you can already buy for the current RAMs.

I like the CAI so I would buy that separately instead of via the package.
Probably those performance pages will be hidden in the Uconnect system and perhaps can be enabled with Tazer DT or Alpha OBD.

The main reason I didn't even want to talk about the G/T package was because of the shift knob. While it will take some time to get used to the dial, having the extra console space will be even better.
Paddle shifters, IMO, are just a novelty. Had them on my 2007 Lexus IS250, and only used them for the first week. After that, they were just in the way on the steering wheel.

I did order the GT package. I was hoping that they would put that cold air set-up on. Couldn't tell which wheels were coming with it. These are the ones I wanted. For me I wanted the Quad cab and no E-torque but, I wanted the GT package.

Think they will add some new color choices for 2022? That battleship gray that is offered on the Durango and Grand Cherokee would look sweet! Looks like they are using the older style 22" wheels from the 2019 rather than all black. RAM needs to get some newer wheel options in my opinion.

Probably not too late to update your order, since it hasn’t entered production. Contact your dealer; I’ll bet you can add the package if you want to.

My Rebel stock was hitting 6.1-6.5. They're a little quicker than 7.

100% agree on this. The dial with the paddle shifters would be the perfect combo, at least for me. The console shifter takes up so much room and ruins the convenience of the sliding tray. With the paddles, what's the point?

At least the armrest is in leather/vinyl instead of the alcantara on the TRX. The thought of getting elbow sweat all over that fake suede makes me cringe, especially likely off-roading in the desert heat or just running errands :)

I think the RAMs, in 4x4 crew cab trim have usually been tested in the 6 sec 0-60 range, not the fastest or the slowest, kinda in the middle of full size trucks. With the exhaust and intake, don't expect much additional power, but it should be at least as fast as the current trucks.

I ordered a fully loaded '22 Rebel 2 weeks ago, and I'm hoping the ventilated seats end up being added under one of those packages. I can live without the other G/T items, but the cooled seats will go a long way in FL.
