First, thank you for all your information on this site. It was instrumental in getting me the best deal I thought I could get. I’m not sure if I got the *lowest* deal, but I’m happy with the results. But I could not have done it without the contributors on this site. 3 days after purchase update; See Edit in Buying Experience
I’m posting my price to assist anyone else with their search:
Truck Price:
2021 1500 4x4 Granite Night Edition, eTorque, Level 1 Equipment, Bed Utility Group, 3.92 rear, Sunroof, Trailer Brake.
MSRP: $70,760
EP: $61,860
PP: $64,331
DR: $64,231
Negotiated Price: $60,771.68
Rebates: $3500 ($1500 FCA Cash, $1000 Truck Conquest, $500 Active Military)
Fees: $899 doc fee, $199 / $129 prep fee (I didn’t catch the 199/129 fee in the paperwork; I’m a little pissed that I didn’t see it…)
Total Before Taxes (Negotiated Price + Fees): $61,938.07
Tax @ 6% in my state, rebates are applied AFTER taxes in Florida.
Including tax, registration, fees: $66,214.08
After rebates: $63,214.08
I also could not use the FCA Affiliate Rewards, which I signed up for a few months ago.
Buying Experience:
I saw a lot of posts regarding South Florida dealers not negotiating and I would say that is 100% accurate. I tried to deal with Arrigo (all three), University Dodge, Aventura, Schumacher. None of whom really returned calls / emails. I also got quotes from Greenway Dodge / Airport Dodge in Orlando. I think Airport Dodge (who I *think* is owned by Lakeland Dodge) was by far the most straightforward to deal with and I would’ve bought from them had they had this truck.
EDIT: I'm editing this after reviewing my contract and not seeing additional fees during the finance checkout. I'll be honest, after a few hours of sitting in the dealership, I was dead tired. Completely my fault for not catching the bs. I used to have a recommendation here for the dealership. Now I'm flatly stating: Keep your head on at all times when dealing with any dealership. Overall, I like my truck and I'm happy with what I got it for. But, I'm f-ing pissed about the few hundred in added fees (at myself, more than anything).
Preparation:
Of course this thread was extraordinarily helpful.
Overall, I used an excel sheet to come up with a guide to figure out Invoice, FCA Affiliates (1% under invoice), and Employee Pricing (5% under invoice).
Invoice for Limiteds were consistently ~91.8% of the MSRP. Knowing that number helped me figure out the rest w/o having to build / get a quote.
Then I had it calculate total cost, taxes, cost minus rebates, loan amount, monthly payment.
Knowing that the dealer got kickbacks after 3 months for financing was helpful to negotiate a lower amount. But, my first payment is after 45 days, so I’m wondering if I can refinance in March instead of after 3 payments (which would be mid-May or so).
Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. I think I’d be ecstatic for the truck, but 2020 has me paranoid AF. So, I’m cautiously optimistic.
Feel free to ask me anything. I’ll do my best to respond / help out.
