N0GL Software Update Thread

Since i am only able to have 10 people in the group for the N0GL hardware people I figured I would start a thread instead. I will post updates that @RamCares gives us in the message group on this thread. And we can discuss without disrupting the main thread with all the different people talking about their update issues.

Hi again,

I've heard back from our Uconnect specialist. We are currently deploying an over the air update to address the following concerns: audio mute during Bluetooth calls, audio volume stuck on max volume, loss of favorite presets, navigation location concerns, and Bluetooth slow to pair. This will update the 12-inch radios to the newest software level. The software update is rolling out over the next few weeks- please be patient with it coming to your vehicle.

As for the online search showing as offline, this is not being addressed in the above update but will be addressed at a later time. Unfortunately, I do not have any timeline for this. I've been told that the following workaround has been successful for many customers:
  1. Press Where To
  2. Press Other Destinations
  3. Press Address
  4. Enter address information
I hope this information is helpful to everyone. Please let me know if you have any additional questions and I will do my best to get you answers.

Both the over air updates and online search must be using cell data. Is there a need to have an active data plan, or Sirius subscription?

No, the OTA and search function are not supposed to require either.

However, it does use the cell signal to do the transfer, my worry is that I have such crappy service in my area through AT&T that it may not try to update because of that.

I have the same issue. It seems the only place in town where a signal from AT&T can be received is on a corner of main street. There is a nice bar on that corner so I guess I could spend a few hours there. The things I do to for my truck.....

I have a cell plan in my car through at&t and I haven't received an update. I have even tried turning off the In Car Wifi to see if that helps and it did not.

I assume FCA has a deal with the wireless carriers to provide updates using their network without charging the customers.

I have NOGL and have not received the OTA. My nav has also been offline with no mic feature since getting my truck in Sept 2018.

Still dancing around the problem. I am due for an oil change soon and will bring it to their attention, again.. But I hate when they want to keep my truck for a day.. pointless.

Reading your email I can see that you have been experiencing issues using the hands free feature and searching feature. I appreciate you making us aware and can understand your frustration.

I will certainly do my best to help you. Also, thank you for your loyalty over the years! It is greatly appreciated!

Answering your questions Patrick, we would have multiple options for testing the functionality of the Uconnect Phone feature.

The first step we would have you do is try testing a similar vehicle if you have a preferred Ram dealership you may test drive one of their vehicles off of their lot to see if it is doing the same thing, optionally if you had friends with a 2019 or 2020 model you may eliminate a trip to the dealership as you would be able to confirm if the phone is cutting in and out.

Alternatively you may pair your wife’s phone, turning off your Bluetooth and calling your phone seeing if it is losing connection.

If it is confirmed that only your vehicle is doing this and not the test driven vehicle we can look at inspecting the hands free system to make sure that it is operating as designed, or requires remedy, for this an appointment will need to be made at one of our Ram dealerships and the vehicle will need to be diagnosed.

If confirmed that it is only your phone we would recommend speaking with your phone provider as they may have to test the functionality.

In regards to software updates we are awaiting a software update from Sirius to correct the Connected One Box search option which uses data to search for addresses rather than manual input and searching a map database; in the meantime we would recommend using the offline function by going to: Nav, Where to? Other Destinations, Address, once there it is recommended to start from the bottom and work your way up."

Still nothing on my end.
@Buck - I wouldn't say they stopped but not as many people are reporting they received the update recently. The only thing i can reference is these forums so take that with a grain of salt.

23 days til the end of March for this 5th quarter update to happen. Their track record with the 4th quarter update might prove them wrong again.
