HVAC Squeak after truck is shut down

Thank you, this just occurred to my Ram. I will take this info to my dealership.

I am very sorry to hear this, @BEAST. If you are in need of any additional support while working with your dealer, please do not hesitate to follow up with us via private message.

Hi Arjento,

I just had a chance to follow up with your PM on this!

Just bought my 2019 Ram last week from a Dodge dealership with 36000 miles. It is making this same noise and I’m not sure if I should take it back to this dealership which is 2 hours away or to a nearby dealership? Is this being covered by the original truck warranty?

I apologize that you are experiencing this, @SweatyGoat. You can certainly work with a nearby dealer for this concern! Please know that I would be more than happy to escalate your situation to a specialist who can work alongside both you and your dealer to find a solution in as timely a manner as possible. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

@RamCares Just sent you a PM. I am having this issue as well. Dealer I believe replaced the active noise cancellation module or something like it, I didn't notice it for a while but it started happening again.

My nice noise just came back and I have to set the AC to 66 for it to feel cool where 68 and 70 were nice. Of course it happened at 36.175 miles.

Just wondering if anyone else has the squeak / letting air out of a balloon slowly sound after running the truck and shutting it off? probably 10-15 seconds of squeak anywhere from 0-30 seconds after shutdown of the vehicle. Gonna try and record it soon, don't drive too much lately but noticed it the other day when I went out.
Mine is doing it also. Will gave dealer check to see if issue with HVAC. It’s coming from glove box side of my 2020

That is exactly what my 2020 is doing. Drives me crazy. Have you taken to dealer yet?

I am hearing this same noise in my 2020 Ram 1500. I recorded multiple videos of the noise and It’s already been to the dealership twice and they cannot replicate the sound.
They told me my Freon was low so they charged it and made sure my truck was up to date. The “whistle” went away for a few days and came back. Maybe I have a Freon leak? I’m taking it back tomorrow for the third time and I am for sure going to show the service Manager this thread. They are all scratching their heads saying they’ve never seen an issues like this before.

On another note, since we are talking about weird AC issues, has anyone experienced random high bursts of air coming from the passenger side AC vent closest to the door when driving down the interstate or at higher speeds? I know the AC intake and cabin filter is on that side behind the glove box. I asked the service manager about this and they just think I’m crazy.

My 2020 Ram 1500 Lonestar with under 1000 miles is making the same noise. Guess I need to take it to the dealer and have this thread handy.

Sorry for the trouble, @Tbode. If you would be willing to follow up with me via private message, I would be happy to escalate your situation to a Case Manager which will provide the dealership and yourself with an individual who will review your concern, then assist you and the dealership in exhausting all available resources to have the concern addressed and resolved.

Update - so the dealer has not been able to recreate the issue and they are not providing any details on what they did or how far they drove it.

Just dropped off my truck that has less than 800 miles on it at the dealership for them to check out this awesome noise from my AC.

This truck cost about $20K more than my 2006 1500 and I will say it is half the truck my 2006 was.

That’s a good joke. Look, service can suck but that’s the dealer’s fault, not the truck’s. Either find a better dealer or record a video every time you shut down the truck and try to catch the noise.

I have been recording it and sending it to the dealer. They had the first video when I took it in and we watched it together and discussed it. I even discussed the findings from this thread with them. The dealer never even drove it. Mileage in and out of the dealer was the same. They even show it on the paperwork. I hate this truck with a passion.

I recently found that the hotter the outside temp is the more i tend to hear the noise. In WI, 90 is hot and when i run my AC for 10-15 min, then I get the noise when i shut down. When it is 80 out and I do the same, no noise. I have had to move my auto temp from 68 to 66 in able to cool the truck in any outside temp. Going to see how this will play out the next month.

My 2020 has the random high bursts of air of air from the passenger side vent also. Like yours it only happens at higher speeds 55 or over.

Check this thread out that I found on here. A lot of people are having the same issue. Seems to be an issued with the current program.

Dealer now has 2 - 2020 RAM trucks making the same noise. They want to replace the "expansion valve" but the part is on backorder and no ETA on when the part may arrive.
