What is everyone so worried about? I have an old 5.9 Cummins and I have never known one to not squeak the belt on shutdown. It is the sound of excellence.

“Oil leak? What oil leak? That is just sweat from all that horsepower.”

Even the very newest 5.9 out there is almost 13 years old...

@RamCares Here is what I'm getting every time I shut engine off.

@theresalwaysone Yes I know it's in portrait; all I was going for was sound :)

@Ram79hemi any chance you can get them to provide the info / # of the star bulletin they referenced in you repair order? Keep us up to date on the other stuff too! Thanks for sharing what you have already, also!
This is all the information the dealer gave me. It did fix the problem.

That's very interesting. You obviously had an incorrect charge label under the hood and I assuming from the work they did, you also had an incorrect charge. Maybe a lot of trucks are charged incorrectly from the factory and most of the techs are saying they are fine because they are comparing the charge to the label - which now appears to be wrong.

I just checked my label and it says 510g (1.125 lbs) so I don't know what that work order is referencing.

I couldn't help but laugh at this. Mine makes a noise about the same time at shut down. But I'm pretty sure it's the active grill dampeners or shutters closing up.

The amount of difference between the incorrect amount and the correct amount is UNlikely to be responsible for the vent temps issue, but possible depending on the software used for BCM.

Hah, I like Ed, it was more of a moment in dumb and dumber when the guy is on the toilet type thing. I'd want that fixed too!

I also have the same noise happening in my truck. Dealer had my truck for a week said it was more than likely a vacuum leak on one of the A\C sensor seals. They resealed something and sent it home... Well noise is still there. I’ve been out of town for a few weeks so I haven’t been able to take it back in. But reading the wrong charge/label you’ve experienced I’ll have to pass on this info when I take it back to the dealer. Hopefully they can fix it. Mine can get really loud sometimes.

That's a perfect description of the sound, actually! I was kind of disappointed that the one instance I took the time to record it, it was actually pretty mellow. I got a good rendition today of a series of multiple squirts and squeals at different pitches.

All that aside, I'm not sure if I want to do anything about this yet? Has anyone done so besides @Ram79hemi ? My AC actually cools very well, and I don't want it to be stuck at the dealer for any period of time having them scrambling to figure out what's going on, or make things worse. I'd kind of rather this get figured out by FCA and be able to direct my dealer directly to the source of the problem. @RamCares says there is no established STAR case for this particular problem. I guess first step will be checking my tag and seeing what it says. Thanks for the direction @Edwards.

Interesting. So if I'm interpreting this correctly, the STAR case that resolved your issue said that the label itself of 515 grams (1.13 lb) was incorrect, and the proper label and fill should be 567 grams (1.25 lb).

30357

My sticker reads 510 grams (1.125 lb). I could see how 1.125 lb and 1.25 lb got mixed up if these stickers are indeed incorrect. That would be about a 10% difference in fill. I have no idea if that is enough to make any type of real world difference or not?

I'll send my sticker to @RamCares along with my VIN and see if they can confirm to me whether the sticker is correct or incorrect.

Hi everyone,
We understand why this may be concerning. Please let us know if you plan to have your dealer inspect with and we will gladly provide you with additional assistance during that process.

I also have this issue, I was going to ask my dealer to take a look at my next oil change.

@Ram79hemi - can you post a photo of the "new" sticker your dealer says he replaced, according to their work order? Nothing on that work order makes any sense.

Thanks
Such an obvious answer to the original question. Why the hell didn't I think of this, lol. Well done @Tom488 . Would love to see your new sticker @Ram79hemi .
