Black Badging - How to ?

Looking for opinions. What is the best quality method of taking all exterior chrome badges, trim and grill and making them black. I don't want the most cost effective, but want something done right, that looks good and will last and will hire a professional custom company to do it.

I’m going to plasti dip all of my emblems including the hood emblems and if I really like the look I am going to buy all the parts one at a time. I’m gonna delete all of the chrome with it too.

Plasti dip is an amazing product but you really have to watch the vids and do it right and it will look amazing and peel off easily later. By far the easiest and cheapest way to black everything out without having to replace it all.

The black badges are pretty cheap. Personally I'd much rather spend $120 for factory black badges than rattle can my 50k truck with a rubberized coating. It's really easy to do it right on these trucks.

Me too but I’m gonna spend 1600$ on the LED lights first...

Here's an idea that will cost very little and its reversible. But a can of Plastidip and go to town on your badges. I've done this numerous times and the results are pretty good. Easy to apply and remove if you change your mind, or while you wait for the Mopar stuff to be in stock. Search youtube for instructions on how to apply. Real easy, and again, fully reversible.

My Son-In-Law did this with his new Chevy Colorado - I will admit that it looks good.

He doesn’t bother to read directions and then complains when the project doesn’t turn out right. He totally botched the dip on his truck and then had a ***** of a time getting it off because he sprayed it on wrong.

It's pretty fool proof, clean really well, one light coat, 6 or so heavy coats. Done. Anyone that messes up can't follow simple instructions.

Exactly. It really is as easy as you just stated.

So I tried my hand at plastidiping my badges. Did all of them except for the grill letters. I liked the results but I have to fess up to some blemishes on the rams head - however it turned out better than expected.i also applied some vinyl lettering. Not perfect, but good enough.
Based on a youtube video, I even plastidipped my exhaust tips a week ago. Let you know how well that lasts.
Didn't see a lot on removing the RAM letters so I included a few pics. Like others have said, I started with a straight blade and used small screwdrivers to hold and pull the letter from its base. I would create equal pressure around the pin and work to pull it out, moving the screwdrivers back and forth. I think I created some bad tension toward the end and clipped the tips, however, I did keep all tabs and (most of) the pins, but as you can see I gouged the hell out of the letter is some places.

Just finished mine this weekend. I got the rear badge idea from someone else I saw on here and wanted the same look after plastidiping it black I pick up stickers that fit perfectly over the lettering.

I also replaced all my chrome badges with the black OEM ones. The front RAM letters literally just pop off. Same with the hood badges. The rear tailgate badge I was able to just pry up and off as well.

To add to what someone said about plasti-dipping their exhaust pipes. I've done mine on previous trucks - holds up just fine. Exhaust tips do not get as hot as one might think. I had mine done for well over a year and it still looked like I did it the day before. I'd recommend to everyone plasti-dipping your exhaust tips if all you're wanting to accomplish is just get rid of the chrome.

Did mine in satin chrome green. I had to cut them out by hand as no one has the color i wanted pre-made. Also they don't have the part of the grille next to the lettering (thinking of starting to sell them in any color).

What is the least expensive options if I am trying to black out the exhaust tips on my 2019 Laramie Sport? I am not looking to replace the stock exhaust at this time. And I did order the Mopar Deployable Step Bed, so I've heard that 5" tips may be out of the question too. Basically, I want to make my stock 4" chrome tips black. Options?

I plasti-dipped mine based on a video. The link is his update on how well they are holding up.

It has only been close to a couple weeks since I did it, but still looks good to me. 7 coats and a gloss coat.

The tips hold up pretty good. Mine lasted a day I was backing into a spot and i guess there was a low shrub there and the tips caught it. Shrub scratched the dip off a bunch of spots.

I got the oem black tips off a member here for $85 a week later.

Man! You got a great deal. I would absolutely go that way if a similar situation presented itself.
