BDS 2” Coilover Leveling Kit with 295/70R18

I’m making this thread since I haven’t seen anyone talking about this kit. The 1664F comes preset to 2” of lift but can reach 2.5” safely, fox recommends not to go above that. They perform perfectly at 2.5” but you might get spring bind at 3”.

Heard back from Fox that the full 3” will not cause spring bind and I will be fully lifting the truck to remove as much rake as possible, I’ll post more pictures after.

On my build I added Icon 1.5” Lift Springs on the rear because I had already ordered them, this brings the rake back but minimal at 0.75-1”. If you are towing or hauling this will benefit you.

I mounted wheels and tires to my build with the Fuel Torque 18x9 with a +1mm offset and Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/70R18. To fit these tires with this offset you will have to slightly trim plastic and bend a metal piece of the mudflap.

All in all the truck sits great at this height and the stance is perfectly flush with the factory fender flares. The suspension is out of this world and performs a lot better than factory.

Thank you! Having an issue with something clanking in the rear and I have no idea what it is. Checked all the bolts on the suspension and the end links, control arms, and track bar, and I haven’t found the source yet.

How do you like the Ridge Grapplers? How is the noise on the highway? I travel back and forth between SoCal and Phoenix and don't need to listen to tire noise the whole way. Truck looks great! I've been looking at this kit since the Carli Commuter isn't available yet.

The only other tire I’ve heard are the BFGoodrich KO2s which are all terrain vs the Nitto Ridge Grapplers which are hybrids, based on what I read on the website the Nittos are supposed to be quieter than others due to it tighter tread pattern towards the center of the tire and I can say this is very true. Lower speeds like 30-50 you wont be hearing them at all. Higher speeds like 60-80 you might hear a bit. So that you can get a picture, the AC will block the sound out as well as having music on at normal volume.

I was looking at the Carli Commuter as well but due to the fact I had ordered separate components to build a Bilstein kit and they never arrived I burned the 2 months I was willing to wait for. Did you get the standard coilovers or the DSC ones? Still trying to decide on the Commuter, Icon or BDS. Just looking for the best on road ride, no off roading.

If you want the best on road but maintain a soft ride I’ve recently recently read from a post by [mention]Mclovinnnnn [/mention] that the Fox 2.0 are amazing.

The BDS kit will make the ride a bit stiffer and you’ll feel the road more as they are tuned for a hybrid driving style (moderate off road to harsh).

I went with the standard coilovers. I did consider the DSC upgrade but ultimately decided for the standard as I would 99% of the time be on road. In my honest opinion if I wasn’t going to be running DSC on all four corners it wasn’t worth the investment. My thought is that the rear would counter act what the adjustment in the front is doing.

If you want the ultimate road ride and have the $330 extra to spare go for it, I have no idea if you would benefit from the adjuster in the front as the rear would remain the same.

I love how my truck feels at the moment and if I ever want the DSC I can purchase them for $330 each from FOX.

TLDR if you are only going to be on road I don’t think you’ll need the DSC especially since you wont have it at the rear.

In regards to the brand

Icons packages although good I feel they are a bit overpriced for what they include and they are missing things I could want especially at the price point that matches the BDS. Also you would only get 1.5” lift from them.

Carli commuter is taking forever to be released but would be an excellent choice if you don’t want reservoirs and you want the same lift as the BDS.

The BDS kit uses the Factory Race Series of this part number: 883-06-166. Again, this part number is the Performance Elite version but the BDS kit uses the superior Factory Race version.

Haven’t checked the Carli Commuter in a while so can’t say. I love my BDS kit, I’d say 18” wheels is the perfect size if you want meaty tires, 34” is the limit if you only want to do very slight trimming (cutting a corner of the mudflap). You could go 35” if you are willing to completely remove the front mudflaps as well as cut the metal bracket that holds it.

33x12x50 Nitto G2 (should work out to 275-65-20)

What offset would de D700 Ammo be? Since you are putting a wider tire make sure you clear the control arms. Tire height is fine. And with the wheel size you wont have any issues with the balancing weights hitting the brake calipers.

You have the same offset as me so you should be fine. With my current offset and tire I sit flush with the fender, that being said I do have factory fender flares. If I were to put your tires on my truck I would sit 1 inch outside of the fender.

So I’m doing very similar to what you want. I have a 2021 Laramie and having the Rough Country 2” leveling kit (loaded strut) installed with 18”x 9” Fuel Ammo D700 in Blackt with with +1 offset and Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T LT295/70R18 installed on Thursday the 20th. I can let you know what/if it rubs and post pictures. Some people say it rubs and others don’t with same size tires and similar offset. But I definitely have read 12.5” wide with that offset and just leveling kit will rub

I’ve seen that the Thompson’s are pretty aggressive just like mine so you might rub on the mudflap on full lock. And FYI do NOT let them put balancing weights inline with the calipers or they WILL rip off and scratch the inside of the wheel. Have them put corner weights.
