Just picked my truck up after the TSB was performed. Everything seems to have been completed and put back together correctly other than some scratched and broken trim pieces. The AC seems cold but I've been using only heat for like 6 months so it's hard to tell how well it's working. I'll have to wait till it gets a little hotter for a true test. It was at the dealership for 3 full days. The guy said the repair was pretty extensive. There's an occasional small click when I turn the wheel at certain times that wasn't there before that I will be keeping an eye on.

And this right here is why I'm hesitant to have it done. It's an intensive job. If the tech isn't super careful, **** will get damaged or broken. I've had mine for a year, valve, I wouldn't do the clamp method. Like Scram1500 said, there are vehicles out there that come this way from the factory. Older cars and trucks had heater core shut off valves as well, so it's really nothing new. The problem with our trucks, is without the heater core being shut off, there is residual heat bleeding in from the blend box, keeping the A/C from reaching it's potential. Don't fight with Ram, or have your truck all tore apart, just spend 15 to 20 bucks and fix it yourself, and with better results. If you want to get fancy, you could install an electronic valve.I've had the valve for 2 years with no issue and none expected. There are semi's that have this from the factory.
Now if you go the clamp route you will have hose failure at some point. The valve is inexpensive and easy, especially if you already have the clamp to keep coolant from running out while you install it.
