AC Shut off Issue

I am glad I found this forum, thought I was going crazy. SynAckuL described that exact same experience I had. It was a hot day, so I used the remote start to cool down the interior. Just started driving thru the residential area and at 1st stop sign, felt a strange engine response and ac shut off. It came back on again in about 15 to 30 seconds. Same events at 2nd stop sign. I did turn off max ac after that second time and it never happened again, but that may just be a coincidence. I have just under 400 miles, so I will be prepared to record now that I see others are reporting this issue. One thing new that I can add is that the day before, my vehicle was in the shop for the ORC Power-Down Flash recall.

Hi Kewlone2gq,

I had this happen to me. It was hot out so I remote started the truck and let it run about 8 minutes. The AC was on Auto. As soon as I put it in reverse the AC stopped blowing. I adjusted the fan and pressed the AC button. I kept driving and it came on about 1 minute later. I set it back to Auto.

I went 2 blocks, shut the truck of and went into the gas station for a drink. Remote started it on my walk back to the truck. Put it in reverse and the AC died again. This time I didn't touch anything and it came back on 20 seconds later.

I'm taking it in for service next week.

Same issue with my 19. Highway speeds ac stops on drivers side and blows on pass side only. Does this for a min then is back to normal.
See if it's approximately every 15 minutes ...mine does something similar and I hear a rush of air on the passenger side of the car also the temperature goes up and I can sense humidity in the air

UPDATE FROM DEALER VISIT ON THIS ISSUE - I just heard back from the dealer on this issue and I'm very frustrated. They could not replicate (which is to be expected as it is very random) but they pulled 2 stored codes from the diagnostic.
HVAC – B10EB-4B Blower Power Module over temp
HVAC – B10EB-19 Blower Power Module Overcurrent

They proceed to tell me that they reset the codes and the problem has not happened to them so they can't do anything about it but to bring it back if it happens again. Something is clearly not right as multiple people are having this issue as you see in this forum. I would say fortunately I have a case specialist who is working this issue with Chrysler accept the fact that this dealer has not heard from them nor can I get in touch. I've left multiple voice mails for this specialist and have not gotten a response. I also have had the issue where the truck has cut off while backing out of my garage. I'm wondering if an overcurrent problem is causing some other issue as well. @RamCares I appreciate you escalating this the first time for me, but so far I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about any help I'm going to get if I can't even talk to the case specialist or they are to busy to be effective. This is unacceptable for a brand new truck.

I have had this issue happen on right turns and coming up to a stop light. The stop light one also occurred with a 5th to 4th hard downshift. Wife was with me on that one and was like what the hell just happened. Takes about 30 seconds to restart the blower. Problem is it has happened only about 10 times since purchase in August 2018. Finally had the dealer looked at it a couple weeks ago and said they are going to replace the blower motor. Still waiting on it to come in. Oh and a software update seemed to fix the 5th to 4th downshift issue.

My truck is at the dealer now. They said it threw error codes when the blower stopped so they are ordering a replacement blower motor. They also said the AC wasn't as cold as expected so they are doing a coolant flush and refill. I'm glad they found and are fixing the problem.

I’ve had this happen to me about four times. Every time it happened it was in the first few minutes of driving the truck. AC just shuts down and then starts blowing again within a minute. I have just over 4K miles on the truck.

Did you ask them what the specific codes were? I'd be interested if they were the same as mine? Nice to see a dealer willing to replace parts based on codes even if they can't replicate it!

Hi Saints,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern. I recommend having your truck diagnosed by your local Ram dealer if you haven’t already. Our team is available via private message if you’d like any assistance with that process.

I’ve had this happen twice.

Conditions both times;
-it’s above 85 degrees out
-happens within a mile of a cold start
-engine cooling fan and interior blower running full blast
-set to AUTO 69*
-at a complete stop
-seat ventilator on

On mine the interior blower doesn’t stop completely but suddenly goes to what is probably the lowest fan setting so it’s a big difference in volume so almost sounds like the blower turned off.

Throwing a theory out there...Maybe with all the electrical draw and coming to a complete stop the alternator is unable to keep up and the battery voltage drops momentarily. The blower goes back to full blast a few seconds after the truck is in motion and the voltage comes back up. Just a theory.

The sheet did not specify the codes. When the replacement blower motor arrives they might include it on the repair sheet. If they do I'll post them here.

So i had an issue with my brand new 2019 Ram 1500 with 700 miles on it. I had the AC at LO setting and had it blower hard for a good 10 minutes. I took a slight left turn and when I did I felt the motor shutter a little bit and as that happened the AC Shut completely off. It looks a few seconds of me touching the buttons to get it to react again and it started blowing again one I pressed auto AC. has anyone else had this happen? what should i do?

I had this issue happen this weekend for the first time. My truck has about 3,400 miles on it. It was right after a cold start, about the time I arrived at the first stop sign in my neighborhood. A/C went completely off. I hit some buttons, turned off "Auto" mode, it didn't respond immediately, but came back on after about 10-15 seconds.

I have the issue that only at highway speeds If I have the fan shut off I can occasionally hear air coming through the passenger dash vents. It will be really loud for a few seconds and then go away. Took me forever to figure out it was the sound of the vents, I spent about 70 miles on the interstate trying to listen and figure out what it was.
See if it's approximately every 15 minutes ...mine does something similar and I hear a rush of air on the passenger side of the car also the temperature goes up and I can sense humidity in the air
I have experienced this as well, and believe it is a separate issue altogether. Not the same circumstances, and this separate issue may be by design based on the systematic way it occurs. Not to say it's a good design. LOL

My truck has the same issue where the ac and blower shutoff for a while even though it said it was all on and then come back on. It showed a couple code about over current and over heat on the blower motor or something like that plus I have issues with the ac not being very cold when it is above 90 out. The dealer told me that Ram is aware of the issue and has a flash bulletin issues and are working on a software flash. I guess I hope this really is the case and I hope that @RamCares could verify this is true.

I hope this is the case as well. My dealer doesn't have a clue and I had the same codes but maybe a flash will be available soon.

Anyone has any updates? Mine has started doing the same thing this week. Mine has already had the blower motor replaced and the entire AC wiring harness replaced.

Now I have this new issue!

Glad to find this post. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago -the first and only time. Over 14k miles on the truck. I had left church and was a few miles down the road, coming to a stop for a right hand turn. Took about a minute to come on. If it happens again, I'll definitely take it to the dealer.

I have the same problem happen to me 4 times with my 2 months old kid in the truck at 100+ degree outside. I brought the truck back to the dealer today and show them this post so they don't tell me that it's not happen. Hope Ram can figure out what happen to the truck.
