AC Shut off Issue

I will not be able to get my truck back to the dealer for a few weeks so if anyone gets an update, please post! This is what my truck looked like when they changed the AC wiring harness that only fixed the problem for a month or so!33978

Glad to find this post. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago -the first and only time. Over 14k miles on the truck. I had left church and was a few miles down the road, coming to a stop for a right hand turn. Took about a minute to come on. If it happens again, I'll definitely take it to the dealer.

Hi 1stTimeRAM,

We certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you experience this again and you do decide to move forward with your dealer, please send us a private message. We would be more than happy to provide an additional layer of assistance during the process.

I have the same problem happen to me 4 times with my 2 months old kid in the truck at 100+ degree outside. I brought the truck back to the dealer today and show them this post so they don't tell me that it's not happen. Hope Ram can figure out what happen to the truck.

Hi namhoang22,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this concern, however, I’m glad to hear that you are working with your dealer. If our team can be of any assistance, we’d be happy to help. We are just a PM away.

My blower motor was replaced today by the dealer. Was in and out in an hour. The blower makes a lot less noise now and the air feels a little cooler. The defective blower sounded like it was on max all the time. The new one is much quieter.

Unfortunately they didn't list the error codes so I don't know what was thrown to indicate the blower motor was bad.

Add me to the list of what I'm calling a reset situation. This behavior never happened prior to my recent trip to my servicing dealer to have the third recall reprogramming done. I had this done during a week of consistent hot, sunny, humid weather, and I have the log from my home weather station showing temperatures were within 3 degrees each of these days and humidity with 7%. Truck parked in same spot, and in direct sunlight. I left my home the exact time of day, 5 days in a row picking up my wife while her car was in the body shop. No issue Tuesday through Thursday. Thursday evening, my truck was reprogrammed. Friday backing out of my driveway with my AC set to where it always is 69deg, auto, I cut my wheel to the left to pivot into the road lane. My truck stumbles slightly, the air stops blowing but everything still set, and the radiator fan is audibly roaring. Traffic is coming so I put in drive and head down the road planning to pull into a farm stand to investigate. About 0.2 miles down the road, the radiator fan no longer roaring and the AC restarts and ramps up to blowing as it should. No issue rest of trip and I forgot about it. Saturday, I do the exact same thing, and the truck does the exact same thing! Talked to my service department and they never heard of this, and these guys are pretty good. I don't take it in because I know they won't get it to duplicate. Fast forward two weeks after a nice spell of long needed rainy weather we had a scorcher of a day. Parked my truck at a friend's townhouse while we packed and moved him beginning at dawn. We were done at 3pm and I get in start my truck and the air is blowing fine, I hear the radiator fan, pair my phone, and drive straight off. Then I get the the townhome community entrance, and go to turn left onto the main road and again a slight stumble and the AC does this reset. Again, once the fan quiets, the AC restarts. I was thinking this was some new algorithm that came with my reprogramming that shuts the AC down until other operating parameters report back good, and assumed the left hand things just coincidence, until reading this thread! WTH?

I had this happen today to me when I left my office to meet a client. It was pretty warm today here in Nc and the truck was parked in the sun. I was about .2 miles from the office with the AC set on auto and the cooled seats on. As I slow down at the stop light my truck stumbled and the AC shut off for a few. I messed with the knobs in an attempt to get it to come back on. Nothing I tried worked but it magically came back on and it was fine the rest of the day when I was out running around.

I’m really glad I ran across this and know that I’m not the only one with the issue. I’m gonna follow the thread for future reference.

So check this out... On 8/13/19, at 4,773 miles I brought my 19 Rebel 12 Crew Cab in for its first (complimentary) oil change. I was going to be heading out on a 500+ mile trip on the 16th, so I wanted to be ahead of the oil change. The service advisor mentioned two open recalls (the power brake pedal hardware modification & the DT ORC Power Down flash). He said they could take care of all the above while I waited.

The work was done and away I drove. Shortly after I drove to the end of the dealership driveway and made a right turn onto a three lane 45 MPH road, the truck lost power at the wheels. My tach seemed to be racing in the display all the way to 7k, but no engine noise associated with the racing tach. I got into the far left lane and a few seconds late power returned and I made a u-turn to head back to the dealership. The truck seemed fine when I pulled back into the dealership driveway, so I left. Knowing their usual line, "...if we can't duplicate the problem, we can't fix it..." Everything was fine for the next few days, then when making a somewhat sketchy (and by sketchy I mean dangerous) 3 point turn on an interstate entrance ramp I found my way onto unintentionally and didn't want to have to go 18 miles to the next exit... I made the 3 point turn when safe to do so. Wheels turned left, pulled across the road, stopped, wheels all the way right and backed up, wheels left and went to pull away and lost power to the wheels. Timing kinda sucked as a car was now exiting the interstate heading right for me mostly blocking the lane. Thankfully, he slowed and I had time to get power back and pull away. Then today, made a right turn off a side road onto a main drag and at about 30 MPH, lost power to the wheels again, tach pinned itself in the red-line position, again with no engine noise. With traffic quickly approaching from the rear and me going nowhere quick, i shifted into neutral and then into drive, regained power and away I went, right to the dealership.

The service manager wrote me up for an appointment tomorrow morning and said he's never heard of anything like this. He mentioned the ORC flash has an ABS component to it, but doubts it has anything to do with the trouble I'm reporting. Additionally, my AirRide Suspension has been on the fritz since that ORC flash as well. Never an issue before now I repeatedly and randomly get "Selected Ride Height Not Available" in the cluster display. This happens whether parked, or moving and whether I try to manually switch to Entry/Exit, Aero , Normal or Off Road (even when not in motion). Additionally, my ride height lights will flash at the switch location, but nothing happens in the cluster and no height adjustment occurs. It does not happen consistently. I explained that my truck was running perfectly at 4,773 miles 15 days ago when I arrived at the dealership. Then a couple hours later, also with 4,773 miles the issue started. I don't really believe in coincidences, especially when there's contributing factors.

He said they will troubleshoot it and if they find a fault, they'll correct it. If no faults are evident, they will conduct a re-flash as a precaution.

I'll update after my appointment...

I occasionally get the same issue on my 2019 Rebel. The first few times it happened just prior to replacing my transmission valve body at 2,500. Not sure how or if there is a relation to both issues.

Happened 3 times over past month, always same spot. Stop at intersection and AC shuts off. Took to dealer last week and they couldn't duplicate.

I have had this happen twice. No idea why it happens or what I can do to duplicate it.

I took mine into the dealer last year for the same thing. First time they updated my tcm or pcm( idk one of the modules) and the next time they replaced my blower motor. Hope that helps. I haven’t had it happen this year yet.

Thank you. After the holiday weekend I will schedule a dealer visit and see what they can do.

I am glad I found this forum, thought I was going crazy. SynAckuL described that exact same experience I had. It was a hot day, so I used the remote start to cool down the interior. Just started driving thru the residential area and at 1st stop sign, felt a strange engine response and ac shut off. It came back on again in about 15 to 30 seconds. Same events at 2nd stop sign. I did turn off max ac after that second time and it never happened again, but that may just be a coincidence. I have just under 400 miles, so I will be prepared to record now that I see others are reporting this issue. One thing new that I can add is that the day before, my vehicle was in the shop for the ORC Power-Down Flash recall.

So, I have an update to my situation. Last summer, it only happened a couple of times and I never found the time to go to dealer. This year, it happened again on a 106 degree day, so hell no...LOL. I went to dealer and they did pull some codes, not sure what yet. They were being told by corporate that some kind of update should fix it, but it was for a 2018 model. They advocated for me that the blower motor w/ resistor and I think some kind of sensor should be replaced. Part is in route, so I go back Saturday.

A few people said they noticed that it cut off on when they made turns. Bear in mind the power steering is now electric so maybe that turn caused a drain on the power system??????

I have an update for my issue of the AC shutting off after coming to a stop. I never experienced it during a turn, but it may still be related. Dealer pulled codes B10EB-19, Blower Power Module-Overcurrent and B10EB-4B, Blower Power Module-Over Temperature. According to corporate, if the blower is working, no exchange is needed and a software update should be done. Well, that suggestion was back in 2018 and I am already current on all software updates. All connections were checked and dealer replaced bower motor. They said if it happens again to please let them know so they can tell the head office.

I’m having the same issue. This is the third time I have taken my truck into the dealership for a blower motor issue. The first time I went in they replaced the blower motor itself. 3 days later I’m having the same issue where the blower motor will just shut off. Take it back into the dealership. This time they replace the Hvac Control module. 3 days later have the exact same issue. Driving down the road and the blower motor shuts off. This is the third Time I’ve had it in the shop for this issue.

This has happened to me 3 times in a period of about 2 months, the a/c controls on the touchscreen become unresponsive. I was able to turn the a/c off using the buttons instead and turn it back on and the problem was gone. On one occasion, I pulled over to a parking lot and turned the engine off then back on and the issue was resolved. It doesn't happen frequently and occurs randomly. For me, it has only occurred during the first few minutes of a drive. I will mention it to the dealer on the next scheduled service, hopefully this isn't a major issue.
