Would you know the part number or name of the 12.1 module? I got the screen, but no separate module.I did the swap in my Laramie that originally had the 8.4 with Nav. When I first swapped in the 12” screen, it was blank. I then swapped out my radio module with the one that came with the 12” screen and everything powered on. Everything works except, the volume knob, tuning knob and the screen blank button. Pushing the volume knob will still turn off the unit though. The steering wheel volume buttons still work and the on screen radio controls also work. I haven’t been able to get updated software to flash the 12” to see if that would make the knobs work or not.
The LVDS cable I am not sure can be bought separate. Its the cable that connects the display to the Radio Unit
I actually need the wire sides so I can reference the connectors. Its hard to tell because they both are similar and I need wre colors so I know what it what. So if you can show the connectors from the wire side that would help most
Right and i am desperately trying to find one.
Did you see my previous post? I had the same issue until I switched out the actual silver radio behind the screen. The radio unit I replaced mine with came from the same truck that I got the 12” screen from. Are you trying to use the unit that came stock with your truck?
This is a single cable that ties the radio module to the display.I need the connector in the truck that has the wires . There is nothing at the radio I need to know. There are I believe two 8 pin connectors I need to see the wires in those connectors so I can determine what needs to be moved where.
I will try to get you an less cable also.
I know what the LVDS cable is. I can possibly get one for you. This is a single cable that ties the radio module to the display.
I didn't mean anything personal. I would be so greatfull if you could find me one. I would pay for it and shipping. Just let me know. Thanks very much in advance.I know what the LVDS cable is. I can possibly get one for you.
thispicture was the only one that came through. I thought i sent another one showing back of module. sorryThank you very much. Here is a picture of the two plugs.
A direct swap with everything working but the volume and tuning knob, is a fairly successful swap IMO. I am sure some tweaking could make it work, especially if you have some 12v background. Either way I only use steering wheel controls so it would be a pass for me.
A guy over on the RamForums bought one in the classifieds and just did a plug and play swap from his 8.4. I tried to get him to post more info, but he isn't on the forums often, we exchanged a few PMs.

If your truck already has nav then thr lvds cable should be there. This cable connects module to display and finding one is very hard. I would suggest try whoever sold you the displayI have found a place to buy the 12" model , and another to buy the screen, What else would i need to make this swap work i have read the posts and am seeing if anyone has been 100% successful. Will i need to flash the computer afterwards. or has anyone done this swap and gotten the dealer to flash it and it works 100%. So far i have read its been swapped and everything works but the hazards. Im a bit confused in the earlier posts about a LVDS cable.. i don't know what it is and do need to purchase one as well. I am in Phx az. id luv to get this done . even the dealer around me said if we get it done and it works to let him know he'd like to know as well.
