Has anyone made any progress on this for the 2020's with the non-Nav radios since a few pages back?
As far as I know, and from reading a few other threads as well, no one has been able to activate the cargo cam option on a non-nav 8.4. I could totally be missing someone doing it, but I haven’t seen it anywhere.

Gotcha. Jimmy07 posted the proper crimping tool below for those, but I’ll say that I don’t have one of those, and I did just fine with a pair of needle nose pliers. I also soldered after getting them in place.

I ordered one of those tools. It gets here on Saturday. My new pins arrive tomorrow. I’m going to try the pliers/heat shrink approach. If that doesn’t work I’ll have the crimp tool to finish the job this weekend. Just not looking forward to have to pull the radio a second time as I have to drive my truck on Saturday which means I’ll have to pop it back in place to keep it from getting damaged

If I get a chance over the weekend I’m gonna mess around with Alfa and see if there’s something extra that might be needed on the ‘20 with non-nav that’s been missed so far.

After reading, doesn't make sense that the cargo cam soft key would show up the one instance Jimmy mentioned on a 2500 with the same non nav head unit. I'm assuming they would be the same as a 1500 non nav.

For those of you that want a cargo camera rather than a front facing like I did... I made my own third brake light camera. It’s not too bad of an undertaking. Camera aims a little higher than I want due to the angle the light mounts but it’s not bad. I actually ordered a different camera so I can get a more accurate “cargo” view rather than a wide angle rear view. My input for cargo cam was 21/22 rather than 24/25.

Can anyone confirm if enabling “trailer hitch camera present” enables another analog camera input on the radio?

That setting is the one that puts the backup camera soft key in the apps screen.

Ah that makes sense. so is there a way to enable another Auxiliary Camera? I see that under the 2020 2500s there’s an option for Off Road Camera and trailer camera under vehconfig 8.

VehConfig 8 off road camera is for the Jeep gladiator trail cam system. It requires the same type of central vision processing module as the surround view system, and uses digital cameras. It is also used on the power wagons with surround view, and it puts the dynamic tire track gridlines on the front camera screen.
2020 HD Rams have two analog aux trailer camera inputs available- pins 21&22, and pins 24&25. This is only possible if the truck is not using the VehConfig 1 CHMSL camera setting. I’m not sure if a 2019 DT truck is capable of one aux camera (let alone two), but if you want to try, you would disable VehConfig 1 CHMSL camera, and enable VehConfig 8 auxiliary trailer camera.

Interesting. So you can't have an analog cargo camera and analog aux trailer cam at the same time. That makes sense - the CHMSL Camera on the 2020 2500 is listed as digital. I may see if i can get the trailer camera to come up. I guess it would give me two softkeys since there are 2 inputs in a best-case scenario?

On a 2019+ HD truck, there are two different CHMSL camera configurations- if the truck has surround view, it uses a digital camera. If the truck does not have surround view, it uses an analog CHMSL camera. The maximum amount of cameras an HD ram can be configured for is 7- the surround view system plus two analog aux trailer cameras.

Finally got my front cam working once i seated those pin connectors correctly. It was definitely 21/22 for a 19 Rebel. Thanks for all the help!

I would highly encourage reading your way through everything just to wrap your brain around all the little tidbits that have been discussed, but at a minimum, start at Page 12, Post #239. That’s a parts list of what I used, and then I do a sort of write up of the process a few posts, or maybe a page later. I’m here to help if you have any questions.

Let me know if you made progress i got an 8.4 non nav as well and wanted to install the front camera

I messed around with it some more, but nothing seemed to change anything. I’m guessing there is something in the radio programming itself that is different on the HD’s that allows it to work for them vs the 1500 non-nav.
