Adding OEM Front Camera?

Figured I’d chime in here, since this has been done for years on the 4th gens, and will be the same on the 5th gens. All you need to do is take a female RCA pigtail-

Crimp these terminals onto the red and black wires- https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity/638551-2?qs=/ha2pyFadui2KO4i8tuEMRmwe3qqDO4dcOxrTo7CGec4q0rAKYyNkA==&tetid=MuZSUWoENz
Insert the red wire into pin 24 on the big radio connector, and insert the black wire into pin 25.

Then use AlfaOBD and set VehConfig 1 CHMSL camera to YES. You’ll now have the cargo cam soft key active on the radio controls screen, and you can plug any aftermarket camera into the pigtail on the radio. For mounting, either come up with a clever solution, or buy the “RAM” grille nameplate that houses the front camera for the surround view equipped trucks. Just choose a camera that can be fabricated into the front camera mount. Supply the camera with fused ignition power, and ground, and you’re done.
I've done this and it worked great, and am in the process of trying to add some other wiring in other connectors - would love know how you found the correct pin on Mouser? I need some male/female pins and only have the wire gauge as per the pin out diagram above? Is there somewhere that tells you what pins are used in a connector?

Can someone chime in if I am wrong... I have a 21 Bighorn 1500. I upgraded to the 8.4 Non-Nav Uconnect 4 radio. I wanted to add the front camera, but from reading all the post on this, it cannot be done because I have the 8.4 Non-Nav unit? Is this correct? Hoping it can be added as I already bought all the parts needed to do this. I already did the alphaobd setting but I do not see the additional "cargo camera" icon. This is what lead me to believe that it cannot be done because of the 8.4 Non-Nav U4 radio I have.

Jimmy07 vincentw56 I have done the Analog cargo camera upgrade on my 19 Laramie with the uc5, 23 BCM, and aux camera enabled. I have the softkeys for aux cameras but when i try to go into settings and rename it i see this “Wireless Cameras disabled” pop up and the new name is greyed out. Once i click OK it shows up and the camera name is reset back to CAM_Aux1.

Has anyone had this issue?

Jimmy,
Old thread so not sure you'll see this so anyone with insight is welcome to reply. I have a 2021 RAM 2500 Power Wagon and trying to add a front camera. Thank you for this information!!! I'm wondering though, if the connector you linked above, is a female adapter? Do we use a female adapter to connect to the big radio connector (pin 24 & 25) or should it be the male connector that we want?
Thanks for your (anyone's) insight.

In his post, he linked the connectors here - they are female: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity/638551-2?qs=/ha2pyFadui2KO4i8tuEMRmwe3qqDO4dcOxrTo7CGec4q0rAKYyNkA==&tetid=MuZSUWoENz

I did this on my 2021 1500 Laramie, works great.

I just did this process and can confirm pin 21 and 22 are the pins needed for the cargo cam which many are turning into a front facing camera.

JUST KNOW, when you disconnect the 52 pin connector from the uconnect, if you do, it takes a while for that feature to show up on your screen. Many have mentioned it before. I don’t know what the wait time was but being impatient had me freaked out I had done something wrong.

Back story: I expected to see those pins empty and I could just the female pin into it. I was wrong as mine already had pins and wires attached to it so I was hoping to find a pigtail behind my 3rd break light. Nope.
I disconnected the 52 pin plug and removed the pins in 21/22 and inserted my pigtail pins.
But when I started it back up my Rear View camera soft button was gone. Again, think I just didn’t wait long enough for the uconnect to register it but again I was concerned I screwed something up.
So I’m reading more on camera in different threads, I believe camera are associated with pins 21/22 (Cargo Cam) and 24/25 (Rear View) but also read about aux cam or trailer cam in pins 31/32 which I also have wires attached to.
Using OBDLink MX+, a bypass camel and AlfaOBD I was able to enable the Cargo cam soft button and a trailer cam soft button. And sometimes I see a Front Cam soft button. I had read the uconnect 4 (12 in with GPS) only had two analog camera lines which I’m guessing is the rear cam and cargo cam but if anyone knows what pins 31/32 are, please let me know.
