Tire Options for 22' Limited Wheels with No Lift/Level

Can someone post what non-factory tires they are running on their 22'' Limited wheels without a level/lift? Looking to upgrade the tires without having to lift/level the truck and obviously want to avoid rub. TIA.

I recently had Nitto Grappler G2 (305/45/22) installed and haven't notice rubbing so far. TBF I haven't tested at all heights at full lock.

Rides as good or better than the stock tires, I will say they are a bit more loud though, which is to be expected with ATs.

Either as long as no rub. Preferably AT’s. Seeing what others are doing. The stock tires are awful and almost bald at 15k. I want something that’s going to keep my kids safe come winter.

I have a Limited with the 20" wheels. I replaced the stock OEM Bridgestone Dueler tires at 700 miles with Michelin Defender LTX M/S. Far superior ride and traction. They worked well in Moab off the pavement, but my primary use is on road. How much time are you off-road?

They also make the Defenders in 285/45R22 110H.

Primarily on road, but here in Northeast PA the roads are so bad with potholes it can be considered off roading! Occasional beaten path during hunting season. Bad winters. Just seeing what other people are doing 22” wise without rubbing.

Yep, bad roads here too. Lots of potholes with the freeze/thaw cycles we get. My sedan has low profile tires...and I've never done that again.

Note: the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 (and Ridge Grappler) are 305/45R22 118S XL, that can be important because most AT tires are LT, stiffer, and run at higher pressures. For 20" wheels they have a 305/50-20 (a little shorter) and 305/55-20 (a little taller, in metric and LT construction)

The Terra Grappler G2 is an AT tire. Very popular now is the new for 2018 Ridge Grappler. The Ridge Grappler is considered a hybrid between mud and all-terrain, but Nitto apparently made a big effort making is quiet for the street. The other popular tires are LT.

If you were planning on towing heavy or lots of off-road you would probably want an LT tire. LT comes in many more sizes.

The advantages of the Ridge over the Terra are a more aggressive sidewall (many/most are very interested in the look) which also protects the side of the tire and the hybrid design is better at rejecting mud. The weakness of most AT tires is they clog on a muddy surface. You can google and find lots of videos.

People with the 305 is around 12.5" wide. Owners report it is close but mostly not touching the upper control arm. Remember the Ram on 22" tires already has a 285, so it isn't that be a jump. As to diameter, it is 32.8 vs 33 for the Rebel's OE tire. On air suspension, the entry/exit position is the same height on the Rebel and Limited. So the height shouldn't be an issue. Some owners have put on 34" tires on an OE suspension, although I think those have largely been with steel springs and many have been leveled in the front. An LT295/60R20 is a 34" tire.

For street use the Nitto (a Toyo subsidiary) has a sweet spot with their non-LT tires.

Try a 285/55r22 ridge grappler. I just put em on with adjustable front links and front Daystar spacers, you'll have zero rub even in aero. Without the level, you may have to do some light modification.

285/55-22 is 34.6" tire! How close is it on the inside? Those spacers work with the air suspension? How much did you raise the truck?

Yup, 34.6x11.7.. a little tight but no rub. I went from a 1.75" rake to ~0.5". Bunch of good info on this forum.

Then Daystar works with the air suspension??? Did you take pictures of that?

But to go back to @d_THRILL's original question, and assuming a Ridge Grappler, the answer is probably a 285/50-22. That is the OE 22" width. At 33.5", it only brings the body 3/4" closer to the tire.

A 295/50-22 might work, but Nitto doesn't make one. Discount Tire doesn't list one. In 20" there is a 295/60-20 that is 34" tall that might fit a car without level or lift, especially if it has the Off-Road Group. The 285/60-20 is 33.7".

Some people are using 305/45-22 or 33x12.5-22 without any reported rubbing. Those are 12.5 wide and 33" tall. But some have rubbing. The fix is probably just using 6mm less positive offset, a +12mm (common on many wheel brands, including Black Rhino) instead of the OE +19.03mm. A spacer would also probably work.

But having a 35" on OE rims and without a crazy lift is pretty special.
