Interior LED’s make huge difference. Replaced 2 maps lights, 2 floor lights, and rear overhead light. The overcab bed LED lights are MUCH brighter and looks good. The brake is brighter as well.

Brake light. Need 1 total

They sound great and so clear I found the dash tweeters to be good but not great these jbl’s made it sound like a concert all around you in the front. I had these JBL’s in my 2016 charger with the beats audio but traded it in for the new ram

How hard is the install on the dash speakers? Could a movie easily handle the job?

Took delivery of my truck yesterday. They tinted it for me free at the dealership. 35% on front doors, 5% sunroof, and 20% sun strip. Got my CAT from license plate installed. Ordered Husky Liners mud flaps, tempered glass uConnect screen protector, and catch can to catch the PCV oil. Will get some better pictures once the rain clears up.

How difficult was it to replace the foot lights?

CHMSL done in the LED's listed earlier in this thread and the other one about the CHMSL. Not noticeably brighter, and I dislike some of the lost contrast, but I like that they at least match all the rest of the white LED's on the exterior of the truck now.

I also have a Limited and noticed the cargo light is much brighter since I replaced the bulb!! Not sure I understand what you mean by "lost contrast"?

Great looking truck! Regarding the driver / passenger window tint - thats just what I want to do. Do you mind sharing the ballpark cost of the 3M Crystalline install?

Thanks

Matt

Got the sunroof and all the windows except for the windshield tinted yesterday with 3M Crystalline 40% all around. I'll probably take it back in to get 90% on the windshield. Noticeable difference driving to and from the tint shop in the full sun yesterday. Didn't think to get pictures yesterday, so today's rainy pictures will have to suffice.

I didn't do a tint match since my better half doesn't like dark windows...

Full list of mods:
  • Remove dealership sticker Done
  • Tint sides/back/pano Done
  • EGR vent visors: Already have them, waiting for tint to finish curing before I install
  • Hellwig sway bar: Already have it, probably install next weekend if the weather permits
  • WeatherTech mud flaps: Ditto
  • Retrax ProMX: On order, supposed to ship next week
  • Bed step: Dealership is supposed to order it for me when it's available
  • Bed extender pins: Ditto
  • Tint windshield
  • Bed mat: Whenever a RamBox model hits the market from BedRug/Husky/etc, I'll get it.

Thanks so much for sharing the details. Being a noob is this a plug and play swap and were there any codes set off ?

Thanks again

Matt

Sure...I ordered these from Amazon.
Stop lights: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CK1NQQ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cargo lights:

There was another post that I can’t find anymore that talked about these replacement LEDs. Several folks have put them in without issues. Much brighter than the stock 921 bulbs

Roughly $875 for everything but the windshield. I think they said the windshield would be $175 or $200 extra.

It has to do with color temperature and what that does to color reproduction. LED's that tend towards the blue end of the scale usually show less contrast because there is less of the red and yellow wavelengths of light coming from the LED. This results in things that naturally reflect those colors to appear duller, and more gray than they would in a light source with a more balanced color spectrum in its output. This is the lost contrast, it's lost between colors that are not the same but the light lacks the wavelengths of light necessary to show the difference clearly.

Ever wonder why kitchen/bath lights have a lower Kelvin rating? That's why. Foods have a large variety of colors and meats especially require enough red spectrum light so we can tell if they're still pink in the middle. Same goes for our faces in the bathroom. We don't want to look like the walking dead with blue or purple skin tones, and yellower light gives us the red and yellow spectrum light we need for skin tones to be reflected accurately.

A good place to see this is in the paint section at a lot of big box hardware stores or paint stores where they have the setup with 3-4 different light sources so you can look at paint chips in different lights. Take two reddish or yellow colors, lighter may be better to see the effect, and look at them in the various light sources. You'll notice in the higher K rated lights it will be harder to see the difference between the colors.

Take a look at the before and after picture from my swap. The only difference I can see is that the yard seems to have less red on it with the new LED's. Illumination seems the same to me. Ignore the lines and grainy quality difference, that's the camera I took the picture with.

Before

After
20181113_232042.jpg

All that said, I'm still glad I did the swap, but if I could change every LED on the truck to 2700-3200K I would in a heartbeat.
