What did you do to your Ram today???

I ve lived in a snow belt for decades, never had a vehicle inoperable due to snow pack, then again I never had a RAM, LOL.
Same. No transmission issue.
Only issue I have is wet and slushy causes my proximity system or touching the door handle to open doesn’t work. The fob will unlock the door. As soon as the handle dries, it works again. Weird!

I’ve had an issue with an F150 which was cable actuated, where snow and ice got onto the linkage and prevented the lever from physically shifting into the Park slot.

But the ZF 8 speed has no physical linkage… so I’d think an electronic issue? Water/ice in a harness? Whatever it was… no bueno.

Had a cardiologist appointment today and it also happened to snow today in Dallas.

Had no trouble driving through the snow whatsoever however on the way home, I got a check engine light stating service transmission and shift to Park however I couldnt shift to park and once stopped the truck would shut off (engine) itself but would not turn completely off.

I got it restarted and drove the last couple of miles home and looked at it in my driveway.
The ignition still would not go to the off position, only accessory and run which if left on would simply drain the battery. I ultimately had to disconnect the battery and set the emergency brake to get the truck to completely power down.

In doing some digging, I found that this is a common issue with these trucks with heavy snow or wet snow which is what we got.

I found this when climbing under the truck to check, it was indeed packed with snow

So if you drive in heavy wet snow and get enough packed in under the truck, you may get a "Service Transmission" error and a failure of the ability to shift into park
Am I crazy but do you not have any skid plates?

Borrowed a rather heavy feeling trailer for its size to move my tool box to my new place of employment. After I parked it I could smell some coolant I could not see any obvious leaks so I am chalking it up to having body work done to the front end and coolant expansion. It was around 20°f out so I didn't bother looking at temps.

Only time I had that kind of snowpack was when I bombed my 96 Jeep Cherokee through deep snow and some drifts that were hood height.

Only time I've ever had an issue after playing in the snow was when I packed my entire engine bay full of snow, and it didn't happen until it was up against battery. I feel it basically shorted the battery terminals causing some issues. After it melted, zero issues

First two pictures are from when I packed the engine bay, busting through drifts. Last one is another day I was out playing.

Battery is only a year old but that would be an easy fix that won't bother me as its a 3 year full replacement battery warranty. I'll check that when I reconnect everything and its warmed up enough to melts the snow underneath
If it's OEM battery (which mine was), they are known to have short lives and to die without warning.

I got just under 2 years out of mine.

From what I'm reading, it's the manual park release lever not being able to move. From what I'm reading, apparently that lever does have some interaction with the selector dial when placed in park.

Search ram 1500 flashing park/service transmission after heavy snow. I had no idea there were so many instances of it occurring

trading in the ram... i was about to go down the rabbit hole adding options i wish it had. after doing some quick nobrainer math i decided to practice what i preach and get one the way i wanted it but still buying used you will have to make compromises if you don't want to go across the country to get it. so went looking, finding a no e-t truck is tough you have to stick with 2022 and down then when you go up a trim level it gets hard again. i ended up finding a 2019 Laramie crew rwd 90 miles from my house with a regular hemi. i wanted a sport package, i like sporty but classy also works.
it has the same mileage as my 2020 q cab bighorn rwd.
1 owner never in a accident, ivory white with black NOT tan interior, Panoramic Sunroof, 12in radio, 33 gal tank, led bed lights and the rest of the standard 25H laramie package.i got it for a little more than i owed on the 2020
put down my deposit and finalizing the deal saturday. i'm excited LET'S GO!

Nope, normal driving on wet/snow slushy roads. I could here and feel the slush hitting the bottom of the truck and it's packed in there.
I'll find out tomorrow when I reconnect the battery

reading about snow causing all these issues i'm just glad i put my RCI full skid which seals from front bumper all the way to transfer case.
