It was a bit of a b!#%Tch to get it back in, and I'm not even sure I was able to push it back in all the way... wonder if it'd be easier to just remove the rear seats and liner to get at the back side of the plug, then put some silicone there to ensure it stays put?

I also have a 2019 with sunroof. I purchased truck in October and noticed the carpet was wet. Searched this forum and found the issue with drain tube. Checked mine and saw passenger side was out. Brought it to dealer who corrected problem. I noticed the carpet occasionally feels damp and has a mildew odor. Brought it back to dealer who was gonna order new carpet and padding. It’s been about 3 weeks since he ordered it. Checked on it today and he said they’re giving him a date of April 15th. He offered to take the truck and strip the interior to check for any additional issues but I don’t think I want it stripped out twice. Any suggestion would be appreciated

I'd highly recommend checking the back side of the plug to guarantee it is installed properly. However, you do NOT have to remove the rear seats, the seat backs can be folded down, giving you access to the rear liner.

If you are already getting a mildew odor, then you might have mold....
I wouldn't want my interior ripped apart at all on a new truck, let alone twice. You are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. What are your options; have the dealer remove the carpet and have you drive around without carpet for 5 months or let the mildew and/or mold get worse for 5 months... NO THANK YOU!

I think its time to get Ram involved....

This thread made me go check mine. Look what I found. The rear passenger side is not attached properly. Called my local dealer, 2 week wait for a loaner. Ridiculous I'd have to pay for a rent car on a 60K truck with 1500 miles on it. @RamCares any TSB on this issue yet? It seems to be a very common problem.

Just purchased mine a week ago and had soaking wet carpets after a huge rain storm. Just want to thank everyone on here because I found out about the issue on this website. Immediately took it back and told them about the plugs. Seems to be fine now.

maybe a dealer bulletin country wide needs to be sent out. If Ram "Cared" about their product, they would be proactive rather than reactive on this. Potentially every single truck with sunroof could be taking in water. Im sure some unsuspecting customer would like to have mold in their brand new $50/60 + truck. Obviously this is a serious issue. Dealers need to be help to some sort of standard. Not everyone comes onto forums like this and reads what to look for. How many times has RamCares replied? so they know about it too.

Long story short, my right rear sunroof drain wasnt installed properly which caused water to leak inside the cab.

I found the right rear seat assembly frame has surface rust all over it, the carpet is wet and I have found some patches of MOLD!

I have already contacted my sales rep, explained the situation and have an appointment to bring it in on Monday.
He started off saying how their detailer can do a "Mold Remediation" service on it and all will be good but I am very hesitant on this.

So my question to you all, what would you do in this situation? Try for a buy back? Let them attempt to fix it and have them pull out the entire interior on a brand new truck to dry out the carpet?

Am I just making this into a bigger issue than it is??

Truck is a 2019 1500 Laramie w/ Pan. Sunroof, build date of 6/18. Just picked up on 11/26 with barely over 500 miles on it.
I just checked my truck and the drain tubes look the same as in your pic. My truck is leaking also. Do you have a pic of what it is supposed to look like?

Just picked up my Rebel yesterday and the first thing I checked was these drain tubes. Low and behold, the drivers side was partially seated and the passenger side was dangling and not seated at all. Immediately crawled under the truck and seated the rubber grommets. How do you fold down the seat backs? I know they fold up easy, but I would like to fold down to not only ensure I seated the grommets correctly, but maybe put some sealant around them to ensure no future leaks.

I found my drain tube plug unseated just like many people on here...this after ~1+ month of ownership. Luckily, despite parking it outside and it raining here in Seattle, no water managed to get into the cab.

Short answer to your ? of how to fold the rear seat back is:
-recline back seats to max
-fold up seat cushion (not all the way)
-reach hand behind the rear seat back and feel for a short pull cord
-pull said cord towards the closest window and rear seat back will unlatch allowing you to fold down (not all the way...seat belt strap will prevent this)... the cord does not pull straight down, you have to pull it at an angle

Why did I not get any water into my cab? As far as I can tell, there appears to be 2 parts of the rubber plug--one side that seals from the outside, and one that seals it from the inside.

After pulling down my rear seat backs, I found the inner seal was in place, and no water had penetrated. I didn't need to put any sealant/caulking in there...

To add a little humor. I have a no-sunroof policy that I have instituted prior to seeing any of this. My wife, aka the destroyer of nice things, has left sunroofs partially or completely open during multiple rain storms & T-storms. Her best effort was leaving the sunroof on my truck full open during a deluge T-storm while I was out of town. Then in a panic towling the truck off inside and the "surface of the seat" and proceeding to close up all the windows. When I came home I realized there was a problem when I noticed the windows were so fogged it seemed like Bob Marley was smoking a fat one inside my truck. The power seat never moved again.

I can't tell my wife about this thread however. She'll take credit and tell me how she single handedly saved me grief with my new Ram by ensuring I didn't buy the sunroof lol.

Here's a pic for reference, you have to reach high...I'm having the same problem. Second pic is the drain tube grommet from the inside improperly seated.

I also have a 2019 Ram with the same issues as everyone else. Wet floors, squealing brakes, and loose seat cover. This is my first Ram as I've always been a GM fan. Not starting off very well. Not real worried about the brake noise but the wet carpet has me very concerned.

I got mine fixed, hopefully. Anyone of you guys with wet carpet need to take it in. I thought mine was just the sunroof drain not being connected at rear wall, but after they dropped the headliner, they found the upper drain wasn't connected properly and that is where the majority of the water was coming in mine.

Jumping on this too. Both my plugs are fully out but are marked as being inspected. I will be calling the dealer shortly to have them fix the issue.

I assume this is for the crew cab. Anyone have any instructions for the quad cab? It seems like the pull cord is facing up (rather then down) but wont budge no matter the angle I pull.

After my Army retirement, I worked at a CDJR dealership as service advisor then warranty administrator for 17 years; your service advisor should order replacement carpet and pads. Not once was one of my warranty claims for carpet/pad replacement rejected by Chrysler and the wet carpet was designated to the "scrap list" I printed out the next day---warranty parts are either scrapped or returned to the engineers to find out what went wrong. There was never any request to return wet interior items; as for noisy brakes, find the thread on this forum about squeaking brakes and note the Star Case number and give the number to your service people--they will be directed to order improved pads and calipers which will correct the issue; they can also order you a new seat cover, but may have to take picture of it and send to FCA for prior approval.
