Ultimate OBD JScan Thread

Question- who here has programmed a key fob to their 5th gen? I found 2 reviews on Amazon, of all places, while I was searching for a remote start key fob for my 2021. These 2 guys who wrote reviews for this key fob said they successfully programmed a key fob to their truck using OBD J Scan.

I haven’t. Still waiting for confirmation that it can be done as far as I know. Get the Amazon ones. You can always return them if unsuccessful

Hey guys. I’m new here. Looking into Jscan to activate the turn signal and puddle lights on my tow mirrors. 2021 Ram 1500 classic (DS). I see two types of bypass cables I might need. The red Chrysler 3 plug seems pretty common and easy to get, but I think the plugs are behind the radio and I haven’t located them yet. The other one is similar but with (2) 2 pin smaller plugs on the end. These would plug in right behind the headlight panel in the dash. But they seem harder to find for purchase. Would both types work for the bypass cable? I plan to use the Veepeak OBDcheck BLE (no +) from Amazon, Jscan and an IPhone. Any suggestions would be great.

(I’d also like to add that it’s a classic so I really don’t know if I should look for 4th gen or 5th gen when it comes to body parts vs engine and computer modules.)

Treat it like the HD trucks that have the SGM behind the cluster. PITA unless you use the cable that plugs into the canbus blocks behind the headlight switch.

If KAOdTECH doesn't have stock on the SGM bypass cable, try sending a PM to @Jimmy07

Hi all. New to JScan but have done similar adaptations on other platforms. The question I have is if there a logged history of adaptations that were done to the vehicle. For example, I plan to change my tire size so the speedo and shift points are correct. Could the dealer/FCA system see that this was changed? Apologies if this has been brought up before, I didn't see anything through my research.

Not sure if it's a log per say in the BCM, (although your Jscan app has a log). However, they will be able to see if a default value was changed.

If the value is returned back to the default value, assuming they may not notice then.

AFAIK, dealer can only see what WiTech shows them, like sales features, etc. specific to your VIN's codes.

Why would they have reason to go snooping around the BCM settings anyway?

FWIW, I've gotten full WiTech scan printouts from my dealer and the only thing in them is part numbers/code levels for each module.
