Ultimate OBD JScan Thread

Please stop telling everyone with a classic or HD to pull the EVIC to install the (wrong) 12+8 type bypass. You keep doing this on HDRAMS too.

(you're also replying to a very old post)

The classic and HD are best served by using the bypass cable that plugs into the CANBUS-C and CANBUS-IHS blocks that are right behind the headlight switch bezel.

I will stop telling them to use the red cable but it isn’t the wrong cable. I have a 22 2500 and it’s what i have and know how to use and have used it a few times all successfully. I did order a Kaodtech cable to see if that way works easier which i understand you say it is. For the record i was trying to help with what i know works from experience.

Hey guys,

I got the performance pages working with the attached config however if I click out of them I have to reboot my screen for them to function again. Any ideas

just curious on what is the things that you can do with the JSCAN that you cant with the ALPGAOBD.
I already have the ALPHA OBD and just wondering if its worth it to purchase the license for the JSCAN.

I know the programming of the FOB would be one that I'm interested in doing.
Anything else?

Thanks!

Basically anything you can do with alpha can be done with jscan

I’ve used JScan to adjust tire size when I switched to 35’s. Also used it to turn off my signature lights and designated my amber turn signals as DRL’s

But there is a ton of other features. You can download the apps and use the demo to see what all it offers

Can I ask what your settings were to turn off the signature lights and enable turn signals for DRL’s? I have a ‘22 limited and just got the cable and BT OBD but haven’t done anything with it yet, and that was my main purpose of wanting to get it.

post #264 I followed those instructions. I will let you know I was unaware the amber DRL would not turn on unless you are out of park. which prolonged the process for me because I did not think the truck took the new settings.

Adaption>DRL Config. & Location>Sig. Light Present on/off> (switch from active to DEACTIVATED)

also forgot to add I deactivated the fog light drop out as well ... something else you may want to change while having it connected and going.

Perfect, thank you! I didn’t scroll/search back enough. I have read that you need to be out of gear, so definitely need either someone else to confirm, or a good reflective surface to park against to confirm it worked. Do your side mirror lights stay on as DRL’s also? Assuming they are non tow mirrors.

actually, the truck just needs to have the parking brake disengaged. no i have not set them as drl but i think some people have done that.

The the side mirrors can’t be programmed to be DRLs unfortunately. You’ll need a kit to rewire them.

This one I think

Hey guys, so I’m new to OBD and apps like JScan. Just retired a 88 ram for this new model. I bought the required components that were listed in this forum. Are there any videos or writes ups on how exactly to do this? Is it just plug everything in and connect my phone to the device? Things I need to be worried about or not to do while it’s plugged in!? Neither the obd reader (Vgate iCar) or the cable adapter came with instructions and I’m not overly tech savvy. Any help is appreciated, all I’m trying to do is correct my speedometer for new tire size. Thanks

You will need to attach the bypass cable under the dash into 2 connectors then plug in your OBD reader. Familiarize yourself with the app by Messi g around in demo. As jimmy07 stated earlier in the thread you can do multiple changes one go while plugged in and on the app just remember to step away from veh after shutting it down and letting it sit for 15-20 min.

When you get on JScan you have to buy a token that allows you to pair your vin to the app and enables you to make changes also.

Just wanted to mention (for the newbies) that the first video is great for showing you how to hook up the SGW bypass, but he’s using alpha not jscan

Right I had those videos saved on my YT and each one has different tips or helpful info.

So when you say, step away from the vehicle after shutting it down for 15-20 minutes. Do I leave the cables and OBD2 reader plugged in or do I re attach the cables to their original plugs and walk away? Sorry even writing that seems like a question I should be able to find an answer to.

In that top video you sent. He just turned it off. Left everything plugged in, and then started the truck like 30 seconds later. I know it’s alpha vs Jscan, just curious if it’s the same steps just more time waited. Thanks
