Transmission falling out of Drive on downshift, blinking, displaying "shift to P" and back

Hey everyone,

We just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that there are two TSBs out: 08-093-22 for 2022 models and 18-091-22 is for 2021 models.
We would also like to look into this for our 2019 owners, so if you own a 2019 and are experiencing this issue, please send us a direct message!

Hi - I think I figured the DM thing out. I have a 2019 Laramie and experienced this issue for the first time yesterday. Thanks.

Hello everyone! I now have 96 days with no drops into neutral after cleaning my TB. It has been driven in 40degF to 95degF temperatures. Hope everyone that hasn't had this problem resolved is safe out there.
I now have 112 days with NO capricious drops into neutral while driving. So far so good. All I did was thoroughly clean the TB of all the gunked up residue, replace the O-ring, and then later installed an OCC.

I want to thank Kicksnare for suggesting it!

i havent experienced this issue in a long while. after several repairs failed to resolve it, the dealer head service tech actually found some consistency duplicating the issue. he noted the RPMs drop at some instant in time as the truck bucked out of gear. you might be able to see it on my gopro video. it appears the transmission was not downshifting quickly enough to keep the engine from stalling. oddly enough, a throttle body clean (on a relatively new truck with maintained filters) seemed to resolve the issue. just for some insurance, i replaced the filter thereafter with a K&N washable type with less resistance. its been a long while since i experienced this. otherwise i would be the plaintiff in this class action suit. hope this helps

Hope no one has been harmed by the drop into neutral defect.

What’s an OCC?

Really? I’m not. And the only fix out there is to clean the TB.
Holy crap! 24 pages of this, and no recall?!
I'm amazed.
Not amazed either. Well, RAM already got our money, we're on our own, I guess. YAY profits! TB cleaning works for some of us, not for others. 🤷‍♂️ Even so, I still like the truck, and I have been fixing the quirks/defects as they come up.

Right? It would be nice to know what the fix actually is. A TSB perhaps. We’re all speculating.

Hey everyone,

Regarding these transmission concerns, please take Star Case number S2118000013 to your dealer as this can assist them in diagnosing and repairing your vehicle!

Glad the TB cleaning may help. Unfortunately for many like myself this is a 1-2 occurrence per year problem. So even if we went 365 days without an issue it would be tough to say if it was really fixed.

My 2019 Limited did this on the drive to work this morning twice for the first time in probably 1 year/10k miles. Both were within about a mile from home. Second time I hit the ignition to turn the truck off and it actually ran the starter like it was stalled. I don't recall if the engine was actually running or not as I was quickly trying to find a solution. Seema this is maybe 1-2 times per year this happens... Finally gonna take it in as I thought this was behind me

Edit: no CEL with either

My 1500 is in the shop right now and the Service Manager is telling me that because he isn't seeing the error messages that this case mentions, theres nothing he can do. I'm ready to drive it into the ocean and leave it there! HELP!!!!

My 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn with a 5.7L engine, 4WD with 3.92 rear only has 5700 miles on it. (Only use it to tow our RV) Some of you will say it is still a "green engine" but you all are causing me great fear.
Any good thoughts?
Has/was this 'fixed' in the 2022 builds?

I don’t think anyone knows at this point. Can someone post what Star Case number S2118000013 actually says?

When my truck was dropping into neutral, it also never showed a CEL either.
