Towing the new camper

The 2670MK was at the top of our list when we were shopping for our full time rig. That trailer has a lot of weight behind the axles. I don't think I'd want to tow it with a half ton, even if it was within all weights.

The Jeep it is over it's 6200 lb. rating with the base trailer, and 600 lb. load capacity. And with a wheel base of 106/107, it is way too short IMHO. That short of a wheelbase with a trailer pushing it is a case of the tail wagging the dog waiting to happen. The curb weight of 5000 +/- for the Jeep is a little light, but not that much lighter than the 8500 GVWR of the trailer. Lots of 2500/3500's are towing twice the truck weight. And you all know how no one EVER overloads a trailer.
Ya'll are right in that his is a really bad setup, and the driver I am sure has had a white knuckle experience with it by now.

I also moved our generator and fuel cans to the trailer tongue. No weights on that extra 55 lbs or so, but it felt pretty good towing, as much as I can tell with this truck. I'll be looking for something a little more permanent for the generator and a tool box. I'm also planning to put 4 gallons of gas total up front.

Added extensions to the Rotopax mounts for 4 gallons total on the tongue. May end up switching these out for 2 gallon cans instead.

We also grabbed a 200w solar suitcase and a Watchdog surge protector to start monitoring power consumption and planning for solar.

It rained the whole time, so our solar was essentially useless. The hikes we wanted to do were overcrowded. We had good enough signal with our booster and the Starlink was obstructed too much to make it worth the hit to available power. The truck's hotspot worked well enough for me to run meetings.

Great park, but we ended up leaving after a couple of days instead of staying the week.

We found a nice KOA in Bucksport, ME.

Even though the solar was a bust because of the weather, I did get some good data on our power needs. We averaged about 120Ah per day. That's running a 12V fridge and outdoor freezer, furnace, water pump, fans, lights, weBoost (turned off at night), and charging phones. It took about 3.5 hours of generator time per day to top off the batteries.

I think we're going to end up installing another two 100Ah Battleborn batteries for 400Ah total, a 3kW inverter, and 1.2kW (1.4kW with the suitcase) of solar. That will give us plenty of room, even running the Starlink, microwave, TV, and maybe even the A/C for a bit.

We tent camped Acadia about 30 years ago. We would like to go back sometime. Thanks for the pics.

We were wishing we had our kayaks with us here. We're looking at some of the inflatable options from Hobie so we're ready next time we have a dock at our site.

I also did a couple minor upgrades while we were here and tidied up some wiring I rushed through when I added LED lights to the trailer.

We really liked the two week stay, and I think we're going to start planning for that. It was nice to have a weekend that wasn't rushing to do stuff and traveling.

The truck is still doing great. The generator and fuel on the tongue helped more than I thought it would. I picked up Forscan to make a couple changes, some LED "light bars" that go on the plates, and a couple other small things for the truck. I'm also looking at tires, but may hold off on those until we head out west.

We celebrated the Fourth here as well. It didn't come through in the first picture very well, but the whole rig was flashing red, white, and blue inside and out.

Also had time for a few projects on the rig.

Added running lights behind the grille:

Also went over to Burlington:

First time we've used the Starlink on our flagpole. Worked great and didn't have to worry about the dish or cable being run over.

Beautiful part of the country up there. I spent a week up there last summer for a wedding and stayed in a condo on the Bolton Valley ski resort. Tons to do in Burlington, but if you like tours and nerding out a little, head Southeast a bit and check out the Rock of Ages granite quarry in Graniteville. You can do a nice little quarry and factory tour there. You're also not far from Ben and Jerry's and the build-a-bear factory as well by staying in Stowe.

Burlington was nice. Also went down to Waterbury. Lots of places around there are still dealing with impacts from the flooding.

ok I did and I see you "HAD" a Ram I guess without reading 16 pages, so Im guessing you have a 350 now? I guess Im missing lol
Yep. We started out in a Ram with a smaller trailer. Over time, we eventually moved up to a bigger trailer and then a bigger truck.

We'll probably eventually be back in a Ram, when their HD meets our needs/wants, but happy with the F-350 for now.
