Pulled it from Kentucky down to Florida. About 650 miles almost entirely on I-65.

Kept tow/haul on and set gear limit to 7th. Stayed in 7th most of the time, but occasionally would drop to 6th or rarely 5th when going up an incline.

Speed was nearly always 65 and occasionally up to 75 when passing. RPM stayed right around 2200 and trans temp was about 195 max.

Towed great, as expected with this truck and trailer combo. Zero sway, barely noticed the wind or passing rigs, and always felt like I had plenty of power.

Trailer brake controller gain was set to 4.5 and worked great. I used the auto option for trailer blind spot merge at first and it calculated a 20' trailer, so right on. I did eventually switch it over to max for a buffer and liked it there. Having the trailer TPMS sensors installed tomorrow, so will get to see that on our next trip, which starts Saturday.

Road noise was almost non-existent and cruise control did its job with minimal hunting. The truck's computer said I averaged 10.2 MPG with the trailer. I did notice battery voltage drop to 13.0v when the trailer was plugged in.

I got to play around with the TRSC system a bit more and I actually like it. It's not a replacement for experience backing up a trailer, but I see its value for my wife and for smaller/shorter trailers that are harder to see.

Was thinking about installing rear bags and a WDH, but I'm going to wait until our trip out west later this year to decide. Right now, I don't think I need either.

I do want to figure out a solution to getting a trailer camera displayed on my UConnect screen, and we're probably going to do a Battleborn/solar setup. Also will be setting something up for mobile internet so I can work from the road.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this entire rig.

Hey! We got the same truck and the same camper! I have been towing this camper since I bought it in 2020. I will add that while the truck tows the Horizon good, it tows it exceptionally well with a WDH. I just bought the Andersen No Sway hitch and I can't believe how much better the whole rig handles.
For me with my 22 Laramie 4x4 I felt the front end was a little vague feeling, but putting a little more weight on the front axle eliminated that.

Mine is not a Rover, but I added the factory lift kit and aftermarket tires and wheels. I also did the Lagun table conversion in mine.

Here is my camper behind my previous truck, a 2019 F150 Platinum.

Nice!

We just finished up our first trip, and while it again did well, I do know what you mean by it feeling "vague." From what I can tell from researching and talking to the dealer, with the Rover I'd have to cut into the tongue storage rack to install most WDH. The Husky Center Line is one that was recommended that doesn't require cutting into anything.

Also got it weighed with the camper behind it, but they asked that I not unhook in the lot so I couldn't get a weight for just the truck

Weights:
Steer Axle: 3420
Drive Axle: 3420
Trailer Axle: 3720
Gross Weight: 10560

I wish I could've grabbed the weight of the truck, but just looking at those numbers I can tell I need to get some weight back on the front axle.

Other than that, we're going to be picking up a Diamondback HD bed cover and probably a new generator (Honda 2200).

Right on! I think we might even be using the same firepit... is that a solo stove? Where in FL are ya? We are near New Smyrna Beach.

Edit: Oh, I might add, I did a 500 mile tow with mine, with a Honda Monkey in the bed as shown below and I averaged exactly 10.2.

Yep, one of the smaller Ranger Solo Stoves. Went with the blue one to kind of match the Ram.

We're over west of Pensacola, almost in Alabama.

Very cool and thanks for the write up! You cannot go wrong with a camper that size! We did the last two seasons with an rPod and loved it

Nice. We looked at the rPod and Little Guy Max before deciding on the Sol Horizon.

If I didn't need the workspace, I'd have probably tried to sell my wife on something smaller. Almost had her sold on a rooftop tent when we were younger.
Its why we traded in the rPod and went bigger. 2 dogs and a 2 year old got really tight in there. We miss the ease though

Another trip in the book. Topsail Hill for a week.

Tow out there was easy and got to use the trailer TPMS. Worked great, and glad I have that option. Towing MPG was 11.9 for the drive out there and 12.0 on the drive home. Lots of sap on the paint that I spent a bit of time cleaning off daily, and a few spots that I missed when I detailed it yesterday.

Next trip is coming up soon and will be hitting 10 states on that one.

Nice camper!

Q: why did you set the transmission to limit to 7th? Doesn't tow/haul mode take care of transmission settings?

Thanks.

Kept it at 7th because there were a lot of hills, it was pretty windy, and I didn't want it shifting between 7th and 8th, particularly if I needed to pass someone.

That is a nice camper, I love the front window. I have a 2020 NuCamp 400 teardrop camper. I have stayed at campgrounds but what I really enjoy is boondocking. I have recently upgraded my batteries and inverter so that I can run my air conditioner off grid. This not only keeps me comfortable when boondocking but also during overnight stays at Walmart and ******* Barrel during the summer. I put in three 206AH SOK batteries and a Multiplus 3000 hybrid inverter. That gives me 7 hours of continues AC off grid.

Nice!

Yeah, we really love the front window. Can't wait to get it out west and do some BLM stays to really take advantage of it.

We also really like boondocking. We picked up a 2500W DF generator that will run the A/C on propane, but will be upgrading our batteries to Battleborns (600ah) at some point (maybe not until we full time it).

The holding tank is our biggest bottleneck to boondocking right now. Trying to get my wife to stop using so much water lol.

View out of the front window on the last trip. Why we're excited for some boondocking out west away from everyone.

Now you're talking.

We'll be visiting some of my old teammates in Texas and North Carolina later this year. Planning to hit up Freeman Beach and Padre Island.

This is one our favorite camping/campground locations! I have always said that I would rather drive the 12+ hours from NC to the "Destin area" than the 2.5 hrs it takes to get to the NC beaches...

Glad you found a spot, I have been looking for the past couple of months for an opening... it is always booked up.

Yeah, I was at Lejeune for 6 years before coming to Florida, and these beaches are worth the trip.

Loaded the truck up with everything I could think of that we might want to bring on an extended trip to see where I'd be. Also filled the freshwater and holding tanks, and intentionally loaded what I could forward of the trailer axle, to see where I am worst case.

Ordered a Fastway E2 and don't think I'm going to carry my Pelican case full of tools on the tongue rack. Also would generally be running with empty tanks.
