Towing the new camper

Looks like you were in my back yard. I'm half an hour from Zippo / Bradford. Hope you enjoyed your visit!
Allegheny was a really nice park. Huge campsites and really easy to get to the trails. We'll definitely be back, probably next year sometime.

Spent a month in Ohio visiting friends and family:

Picked this up. Not sure why we didn't have one all along.

Your new jump starter seems small to jump start your Ford engine, specially if it’s a diesel.
I bought a similar jump starter and it specifies that it’s capable to start 6L gas or 3L Diesel engines

I’m curious about your fuel economy, bare and while towing, did you ever calculate it? The reason for asking is I recently went on a trip with a friend towing a long empty goose neck trailer, he has a Ford F450, the fuel consumption was horrible, 24L/100 km(9.8 mpg), it was all highway miles at 90 to 100km/h (55 to 60 mph), I can’t imagine if we were towing a travel trailer what the fuel usage would be, with more wind drag because of the height difference, in comparison my truck does 9L/100km (26 mpg US) empty and 14L100km (17mpg US) while towing my small travel trailer on the highway at the same speed, but I have the small 3L V6 Diesel.

They claim it's good for 12L gas and 10L diesel. I haven't tested that, but a couple farmers on YT had no issues starting diesels with it. Will report back when/if I ever need to use it.

We're getting 24 without the trailer and 15 when towing.

Nice. Looks like a good time. I was stationed at Ft Huachuca over 20 years ago. We'll probably be through that area next year sometime.
It's a great area for sure. We really feel pretty fortunate to have found Sierra Vista to retire to, it checked all of boxes when we were searching.

We spent a week in Rising Sun, IN. Nothing crazy exciting. We did Thanksgiving here and went to the casino down the road and spent $20 to say we did it.

Put out the Christmas lights (undercarriage lights...):

Movie marathon for Christmas.
1000003132.jpg

Upgrading the battery bank.

Solar.

I also have a Victron Multiplus-II 3kw inverter on the way. Will have 400ah battery bank and 1200w of solar, plus all the Victron monitor and control goodies.

Great stuff. Getting any road weariness yet or just keep wanting more time in the RV?
Not tired of the RV, but being back home and in between tenants, we went by our house. We definitely miss a lot of things about being home.

I think we'll probably end up doing this for another year, then go home. We'll still travel a lot, but would stop renting our house.

Yeah, I can see the tradeoffs for sure, but man the notion of doing what you're doing just has such attraction. Still a maybe in our minds.

I definitely recommend anyone who is able to do it when they can. It's not a permanent lifestyle for us, but glad we've been able to do this for the last and next few years.

Still back in the Pensacola area.

Solar and charger all up and running. I've been turning the converter off constantly and annoying my wife.

We're only pulling in 300-400 Watts at peak right now, but we're in a decent amount of shade and haven't had a whole lot of sun since I got everything wired up.

I also cleaned up some of the wiring and added fuses and grounds to get ready to install the inverter.

1000003280.jpg

Mock up to measure for the frame I'll build to support the inverter. Also working out how I'm going to run the Romex, HDMI, and data cable for the Victron monitoring devices.

1000003243.jpg

Also installed a couple bus bars under the trailer to connect our lights, TPMS booster, and any other 12V devices I add down the road. I'll probably spend some time cleaning this up once I'm done installing everything.

1000003162.jpg

Added GasStop shut off valves to both tanks. I'm also looking into options to shut off the water if a leak is detected.

1000003168.jpg

Swapped the pin latches on the propane cover for push button.

1000003170.jpg

I've also knocked out a couple small repairs. Nothing major, but our table locking mechanism broke and the LED strips in the bathroom had some dead lights.

We also had to say goodbye to our senior toy poodle mix a few weeks ago. He gave us almost 19 great years.

We always try to keep two dogs, and are big on rescues. We ended up finding another toy poodle who was rescued from a puppy mill. He's about a year old, and had a horrible start to life, but he's settling in and figuring out what a good life is like.
