I called the dealer and am gonna swing in so they can plug into it and update it or look into it. Myusic is also crackly through car play. Almost sounds like a scratched cd.

Thought I read on here or another forum it was an option for trucks with the navigation package

Of course, take that with a grain of salt.

Well that would be pretty dumb. Considering it used to be an option regardless of trim level.

What did you ever find out about the theme setting. I too have a Laramie level 1 without nav, This is my first Ram so I have been lurking around the forums and I saw a post about the theme setting not staying, My first thought was... you can change the theme???? I didn't see that in my menu options anywhere either, I'm wondering if my build is too early, I need a software update or it's just not available on the non-nav 8.4.

My dealer said only on the Nav radios and 12”. I told him that’s kind of ridiculous considering that the 2015 models could change the theme. Who knows. Oh well I guess.

I have a Big Horn 8.4 without navigation and the first thing I did when I got home with it was to try to switch the theme to the "Blue" theme like I had in my 2018 Sport. There was not an option under the Display Settings to change the theme. I assume that they made the Non-Navigation 8.4 radios all with one theme to simplify the programming on the trucks. I totally understand, but it does suck that you cant change the color on the Non-Navigation 8.4 radios like the past models.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's only on the Nav radios and the 12.1. The NON NAV radios are seriously nerfed now, it's not just the same radio without NAV as it was previously. They are missing a lot of features compared to the NAV units. They also aren't unlockable to have NAV as the previous ones are.

I never thought about getting the Nav radio because to me it was pointless. With CarPlay now it’s simply not needed. I had no idea Ram went cheap on the non Nav radio though.

Spoke with a buddy who was close with the development of the 2019 1500, he said that the 12.1 and 8.4 Nav are manufactured by Panasonic while the Non-Nav 8.4 unit is manufactured by Harman. So that could be the reason as to why the Non-Nav radios have only one setting.

If you look at the resolution between the Non-Nav 8.4 vs the Nav 8.4 you can tell they are actually different style radios with similar layouts.

Another user who's also having same issue with speed cluster losing the blue theme setting upon random startup... It will keep sometimes for several days and then randomly reset... However, Radio cluster stays on selected theme... So annoying... 2019 laramie btw

I love how I can change the theme settings on the gauge cluster and uconnect screen but for me it's a hit and miss. most of the time when I change it, both screens change and then when I turn the truck off and come back and turn it on, only the uconnect screen still keeps that theme. The gauge cluster is back to the normal sport background and now they don't match. Anybody else have this issue? I'm thinking it will just be a software update more than likely.
Yes, I have this same issue...sounds like a software update will fix.

Good afternoon,
We understand how this would be frustrating. Please send us a private message if you decide to have your dealers look into this so we can have this documented and looked into further.

I've heard several complain about this and I wonder if theme is connected to seat memory like radio presets are. Have you tried changing the theme and then re-saving your seat memory?

Sounds wild but there are so many settings captured with the seat memory position it's worth a shot.

I had the same problem. Drove me nuts setting and resetting until I figured it out. It is tied to the seat setting. Problem solved.

I'm taking my truck this coming Tuesday for its first service and will have them look into this.
