Kathryn,

I brought my Ram into the dealer today and the Tech said the dealership is aware of the issue but there is no fix for my vibration/hopping/shutter and told me to reach out to Ramcares. My truck is undrivable. I called to reopen my case and currently waiting for a Ram specialist to call me. I didn't drop $70,000 on a truck that I can't drive safely with my wife and 2 small boys. Case #78023546

I have no idea how to private message, you can initiate to me or you have my case number to call me.
Hello @mikehoff0341, I am sorry to have not seen this message sooner. I did have the chance to follow up with you privately. Please continue to work with us there if you have further questions.

Mine isn’t a normal vibration. I drive a Ram crew cab for my cruiser and the tires are out of balance on that one. It rides like crap and that isn’t even close to what my 2020 does. Tires are all jacked up with 8k and the shaking at highway speeds is unbearable. Maybe they put on cheap tires not designed for a full size truck with 22” rims. Mine was made when the factory’s were being shut down for Covid. I think steps were skipped to push out what was left to dealers for inventory. If my issue isn’t fixed I’m going the lemon law route and would be happy to do a class action.
We certainly understand the concerns you have with your vehicle, @ThinBlue-Ram22. Our team would greatly appreciate the opportunity to assist in resolving this for you alongside your dealer. Please follow up with us privately with your VIN so that we may determine how to best offer support at this point. Thank you,
I just created a forum account to join this discussion. I have a 2020 1500 BigHorn 4x4 5.7L. 20" black aluminum rims as part of the blackout package. Bridgestone Dueler tires. It does EXACTLY what yours does! I can feel a faint thump-thump at low speed on smooth pavement that becomes a shaky wheel at 75mph. I got it in October. It now has 2000mi on it, has been road force balanced three times, and the dealer just replaced the two front tires. Today they offered to buy my truck back in a trade for a new 2021 on the lot. I'd lose about $2-3k in the deal - I'm really frustrated and torn about what to do.
Hello there, and welcome! We are sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with your truck. Please send our team a private message with your VIN - we would be more than willing to escalate your situation to a specialist who can work alongside you and your dealer while your truck is in service.
FYI...traded in my 2020 LARAMIE 4x4 today for a 2021 REBEL 4x4 and almost didn't buy it because I noticed signs of the same problem. On the drive home which was about 60 miles I called the salesman about halfway home and said I'm not sure I want this truck, it's shaking bad. He suggested we swap the balanced driveshaft and the link bar's from my other truck to see if that fixes it. Here we go again! I'm going to get the manager on the phone tomorrow and see what will be the backup plan, if none they're getting this truck back.
We deeply regret to hear that you are facing similar concerns with your 2021 Ram, Brandon. Please send us your VIN so that we may address this further by connecting you and your dealer to a specialist. Thank you!

I’m set for my last service department visit. 3rd Ram dealer trying to fix the issue. They will need it for a couple days as well. That will make 5 days total 4 visits trying to fix the issue. They are not evening going to do what the other starker suggested by road force balancing it. They want to start from scratch again. And my case manager, nice guy and all. Said he doesn’t have a clue what that type of balancing is, and gave me a hard times because the drakes around me don’t have highways close enough to test drive it at good highway speeds for a good amount of time. Because they can’t drive it for to long, can’t be away from the dealership for to long. I have that recorded... so it’s my fault I bought a 70k truck and can’t drive it on the highway. I should stick to local roads where it doesn’t shake like crazy.
Last Chance Ram. I hope you get fixed. I love the truck besides that. If not I will start Lemon Law next week after I picked it up. I’m taking a 1hr drive to at the suggestion of the case worker to a bigger dealer. So 2 hours of my time, and 2 more days without my truck.

This sounds very familiar and it sucks! Sorry I went through the same thing hope to get my 2021 build very soon, hope no problems this time. I also love this truck, just not the problems and what these people put me through! Good luck!

Wheel balancing/Road Force Balancing is an art. When you go to a busy dealership and they just give your truck to the oil change entry level mechanic to do the Road Force Balancing you're screwed. I'm not saying that has happened to you guys or myself but it takes a skilled, non-rushed tech to do the work.

I went into the dealership today and was there for close to 4 hours as they Road Forced Balanced. If you don't get a printout of the road force balance results you're wasting your time. If you get a measurement reading of over 20 (Under 17 is preferred), the tire needs to be adjusted on the wheel over and over again until it gets a better reading or you need to replace the tire. All 4 of my wheels didn't have the proper weight on them and 2 of the tires needed to be repositioned on the wheel. (I couldn't wait until my service appointment at the dealership so I got that tire installation done at a local tire shop, BIG MISTAKE). The dealerships printer wasn't working so I asked the service manager to take pictures of the before and after of each wheel. The dealership charges like $50 a wheel to Road Force Balance. Do you think service managers want to tie up one of their valued techs for 4 hours to charge $200 on that?

After that, they put it on the wheel alignment machine and it was off so badly they gave me a rental car to take home since it was going to take a while to do. I don't know how one tire shop says the wheel alignment was perfect (I saw the printout) and the dealership said it was out very badly (I saw the printout). I have the air ride suspension and confirmed with the tech and adviser that they had the suspension in Normal mode and the settings in the Uconnect menu to Alignment mode which makes sure the suspension doesn't self level on its own.

I should be picking up my truck tomorrow and am highly confident my issue will be resolved. Fingers crossed.

After my dealer tried to balance my tires twice and ended up replacing two of them as defective, I still have my high speed shimmy. Their next step is to start tearing into the drive train. Not personally feeling like the drive train is the issue, I took it to an independent shop to have the tires balanced again. Service description attached. 2 bent rims.

The dealer is going to be emailing me the pictures this afternoon but I attached what you NEED to get or see before crossing off tires/wheels as not a problem... You will definitely feel vibration if the road force result is high.

Notice on the screen the lower left corner says the road force value. On the printout it shows on the tire itself.

I don’t visit this site often enough. As an update to my two prior posts, the 8 tire balances and new tires have not fixed the problem on my 2020 Ram Limited diesel. The dealership has performed two NVH tests and are unable to find the issue. It runs fine on the rack, then bounces down the road. I drive slow, so last month I thought I would open it up a bit to see what happens. The vibration at 85 mph was strong enough to blur your view in the rear view mirrors. My dash cam fell off the windshield. The front end started to feel light. I did not feel in control of the vehicle and immediately slowed down. I can’t believe that a nearly $70k truck can not drive over 80 mph. I left the truck with the dealership for 17 days in December, bringing me to a total of 34 days that my truck was either out of service, or required me to pay for a rental car since I purchased the truck on August 7, 2020. As for the NVH test, I now believe the only purpose of that test is so that RamCare can tell you everything is fine and I am not feeling what I am feeling. I have read the entire 124 page guide that Chrysler put out in 2011 and found that no part of that test would identify my issues. RamCare denied what I am reporting three times based on the NVH test. I would imagine that most buyers would have backed down by now, but I have owned and built enough vehicles to know better. Every Ram employee who has ever driven my truck has told me there is a problem. Every RamCare rep who has NEVER driven my truck tries to dismiss me and tell me it is normal. After repeating the same vicious cycle a couple of times, I have now filed for Arbitration under my state lemon law. The case will be heard Feb 1. I will have another update after that hearing, as I am really curious to see how FCA treats a loyal customer

Sounds about like my story, I was even told I couldn’t drive a new truck to compare it to mine. The specialist ram sent out and did the nvh test I’d guess, it detects vibrations, anyway he said my 19 did not meet rams specs for acceptable vibrations. Dealer had truck 3 days, this after 6 prior visits for same issue. Said they tried many new parts with no fix! Last straw was they guessed the front axles were bad, replaced axles. I got it back and still has a vibration. Got them to lemon law it. Good luck with your situation!

new update on RamCare. After 34 days out of service and the inability of my truck safely driving +80mph, Tenielle at RamCare has told me FCA has denied any further action on my truck. This is the fourth denial. I asked for the basis of this decision, and she said she was only showing a single tire balance From August. I told her that she was referring to a single dealer; but I have been to four dealerships. Even though we discussed it on prior calls, she had no recollection of the 21 days in the dealerships shops or the 34 days it was out of service in the past 5 months. she said they can only go by the notes in their system. I gave her other service dates and she did locate them, but she said their decision was final. I asked if they could review based on clearly not having the facts and she said no. I asked for a supervisor, she said no. She the told me she would be ending the call and hung up on me. $70k Spent for this. Glad I have my arbitration scheduled for Feb 1, because these people truly operate like they hate their customers.

Short update. RamCare told me specifically that they contacted the service manager at the dealership and he stated everything was within specs On my truck. I called the service manager at the dealership immediately afterwards, and he said that he has never spoken with anyone. A straight up lie by RamCare on a recorded line.

I have missing records too. I thought it was kind of funny when my invoice doesn’t really state what was done like a 4 wheel tire balance. I had first dealer print all my visits out and I know for sure 1 if not 2 were missing, like I was never there on a certain date. I’m sure ram is advising them to do this!! Call a lawyer if you think you have a case. Ram gave into me after I told them I had 8 pages of documentation and I still do. Ram wanted to see my documentation, I’ll said you’ll see it in court. Had we gone to court they would have looked really dumb, ram cares and the dealerships both! I’ve been to three dealership, 2 of which ram cares advised to to go to, then they tell me the reason why my truck is not fixed, is because I keeping going to different dealers. Also all them phone calls are recorded, I think someone went back a listened to all my calls with these people and were like dam this guys got us! Good luck!

My arbitration is Feb 1. I have audio and visual dash cam footage of all drives with service manager describing what he is feeling and all documentation that does not match his experience. Just can’t believe the level of lying RamCare is willing to do. They are accepting that my last trip to dealership took 17 days for a tire balance. Sounds normal? Sad part is that I really want a Ram. Can’t tow classic Dodge with a Ford or GM!

OMG yes! Traded in my 2020 for a 2021 with the same f-ing problem. Dealership tells me that they never heard of this issue, I'm the only one... guess this makes me a VIRGIN!🤣 Already building a case on this brand new truck with less than 500 miles on it. Already feel the tires chopping.
