If it makes you feel any better, the bike I went to was BMW K1600.

When this came out in 2011 boy howdy was there a LOOOONG list of inexcusable things that broke: front end squeaked, heated grips open-circuited, water pump leaked, paint issues, engines burned oil, and some more that I've forgotten... on a supposedly premium branded bike that cost more than many cars.

If anybody was entitled to bad mouth both Honda and BMW, I feel like it'd be me, but I wouldn't be honest if I did. These are good vehicles just bad apples get into the cart sometimes.

After fixing everything, that K1600 has given me uncountable enjoyment and you couldn't pry it from my hands. Wishing you the same.

Thank you very much for saying that, and admittedly I have done too much bitchin' on here because I have been frustrated. Respectfully, I need to apologize to the whole forum as I have uncharacteristically complained too much. What I am hoping to do is find a solution to my issue so that others can get their tranny's fixed as well.

This Rebel 12 is the first vehicle I have ever ordered, and regardless of the issues of my first '19, I had high hopes. Still, I love the truck regardless of it's defects and fight internally with being back and forth with my emotions. The '19 Ram is still in my mind the best 1/2 ton on the market. Granted, there are growing pains and I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having back to back trucks with quality issues. But, my truck has an amazing ride, looks great, and the interior with the 12" screen and HK is awesome. Maybe if/after my transmission issue is fixed, and a few of my other issues are addressed, I can finally start to enjoy this truck. My dealer, and two other body shops have said that I should leave the two clear coat paint runs alone unless I want to get the whole bed and front fender painted. So, even if the other issues are fixed, I will still have a couple of "pimples" that will be visible. Oh well, nothing is perfect and tomorrow the sun will rise as it's a new day! :)

Ironically, mine hasn't done it in almost 2 weeks now. However, it did it 5 times in the first couple of weeks. Weird, because I remember reading other posts where members like yourself had it happen a couple times initially and not since. My replacement valve body is due in around the 15th, so I should be able to get it installed by the end of next week and will keep you posted. My ramboxes perform flawlessly and have no idea what is rattling around the subwoofer. Mine is a sunroof rattle and passenger rear rattle. Hopefully you get your issues fixed soon.

This has happened to me with back to back '19 Rams. I think it's more of a widespread problem than some are claiming and ultimately believe there will be a recall. It wouldn't surprise me if all 19's will eventually exhibit this behavior at one time or another as the defect could be the valve body, or the transmission itself. Regardless, I agree that it's very frustrating and unacceptable coming from the factory. Good luck in getting yours fixed as I have had both a transmission replaced, and now the dealer is telling me they are going to replace the valve body. Who knows what the problem is and tragically FCA doesn't even know. As I have stated before, both of my 19's have had the worst build quality of any brand I have owned, and I have owned most.
Thanks. Wow, back-to-back? Sorry to hear. I've reported the issue to NHTSA and FCA/Ram North America. I linked both entities to this forum and the YouTube video posted by Jake Terkanian. Given the govt shutdown, who knows when I'll hear back from NHTSA. Based on articles from 2018, it appears Ram rushed production of these models because they were behind and losing money.

Adding to the thread. Picked up my Laramie Sport on Friday. Had the transmission problem 3 times in 150miles. Bringing the truck to the dealer this morning.

This is a beautiful vehicle. I hope they can figure this issue out for all of us.

Thusfar I do not have it at 1400 miles.

I picked up a Limited with 11/18 built date and it did 3 times in the first 200 but has not done it since. Current at 700 miles. I was a former Dodge tech but not that worried about it yet. Just adding my experience.

After reading through this tread I would have to say this is a software issue related to the the ZF transmissions learning. Reminds me of a problem with the Sniper EFI on my hot rod which had an starting issue with the IAC which was caused by an out of range numerical value set by a software programmer that caused real world starting issues. All you had to do was adjust one value and problem went away.

Seems like something similar as most of these issues are in the first 500 miles and then nothing.

Mine stopped doing it for a few days, I was excited now that I am over 500 miles......thought it resolved itself.....then left work today and it did it twice during my stops on my way home, one time when going into D it kind of jerked into gear without me accelerating. Eager to find out if the valve body change makes a difference....my drop off appt for formal diagnosis is 1/24.

I experienced this the first time I test drove one. Turned the knob to drive and truck didn't move. Gave it some gas and it jumped forward quickly. I assumed I just shifted it wrong.

Would you like to hear from others that have already been to the dealer for service on this issue as well for documentation purposes? I went in a couple months ago for this.

Hi Everyone,

I had my truck serviced yesterday. (Darlene, I didn't see your reply until after my service). The tech could not duplicate the issue and said no errors were reported. He said he found a TCM (transmission control module) update open for similar issues. He updated the TCM.

Now, whether that was the fix remains to be seen. But so far, so good (and I hadn't experienced the issue for a couple days prior to the appt). I'll report back if it happens again. Thanks all and good luck.

Here to add. Have a Rebel with a September build date. Bought it end of November have 4,000 miles on it. Mine did this for the first time last night. Started truck put it in drive and nothing back to park then to drive give it a little gas and trans engages and feels like a neutral drop. Drove it to dinner, home depot and grocery store after and didn't do it again. Didn't do it this morning when I left for work. If it does it again I will be calling the dealer for sure. Good to see some hope may be there! Just wanted to add to get the number up.

Quick question Paulny, if I understand correctly, FCA replaced the transmission in your first '19 Rebel correct? Did that resolve the issue on that one as far as the transmission was concerned while you had it?
