I don't hold everyone (or every dealership) to the same standard, but yes, most service centers AT the dealerships are going to be a cut above taking a gamble at some other shop (chain or mom&pop).You're weird if you think everyone that works at a dealership does a good job. No place is perfect and no those were all at different dealerships above.
There are a few indy shops that I trust when the job is either too involved or too time-prohibitive, but those relationships are formed by actually knowing the guy who touches my cars, often shops that I can hang around with friends. If I'm going to take a gamble on someone who's going to remember to put the oil cap back on or to actually use the right pad clips, I'd still place my bet with the dealership's service dept, which is the same place I go when I buy OEM parts.
So yea, I'm going to get the recall done, I'm going to hold them to the damage that's already been done, and I'm going to hold them to stand by their work.
But keep living in whatever world you are in.
