Rear window surround crack.

I too have two cracks in the frame, just above the sliding glass. I have an appointment tomorrow, so hopefully all goes well.

Still waiting on approval from FCA.

Got mine back on Thursday. Install seams to be good. I washed it this weekend and made sure to spray the pressure washer around the glass a good bit to check for leaks and found none. They did leave a few spots of the sealant around the outside on the paint and also on the peragon bed cover rails that also looks to have a scuff. I was able to get the sealant off but didn't try to buff the scuffs out yet but shouldn't have problem there. Will talk with the service advisor about it as i have already got texts and emails about the survey they so desperately want all 10's on !

I've just returned from the dealer, who had no clue or had never heard of something like this. I referenced the part # from this thread and he checked the part itself (they had one in stock for another customer) but supposedly it doesn't contain the actual piece that's cracked, only the glass? Either way, they can get me in NEXT WEEK to perform a "water test", the tech thought my water was coming from the third brake light. Based on what I'm seeing (pictures attached) it looks to me like the water stains are coming from around the cracked area, not above. I also have no visible water stains on my headliner. I've reached out to @RamCares, hopefully they can help with the process. My biggest concern is waiting 1 week for the "water test".. then another week for the part.. then another week to get in there and have it replaced, all while my truck sits outside in the elements.

Very aggravating for a truck I only purchased a few months ago for 50k+.

It was months for me to get mine fixed. I noticed it earlier this year, took it in the middle March, got my truck back in early April (no work done), took it back in early June, then got everything fixed. It would have been quicker but the pandemic kind of put a kaibosh on things.

Unless it was spraying on the rear window (washing the truck) or a decent rain it only seeped. I tucked an old bath towel between the window and the bench seat to absorb any leakage.

The first try by my dealership was a new CHSML (3rd light) also even though I did not have any headliner stains. It's almost the default go-to. Rear window/roof leakage...replace the high stop mount light. The gasket is not the best so is a common leak point.

I took pictures of the cracks when it leaked to show my dealership. They confirmed the cracks were there and took my pictures of the leakage (bypassing the leak test) to get FCA approval for the repair.

Yep that’s the window and not the 3rd brake light. In the mean time you could put some strips of racing tape over the gap between 3rd brake light and body as well as over the gap between window and body. If you have clear vinyl wrap that’s even better for now to at least keep more water from entering ans the vinyl will peel right off when you take to dealer

In the mean time you could put some strips of racing tape over the gap between 3rd brake light and body as well as over the gap between window and body. That's a decent idea, I'll have to look in to it. I have a feeling this is going to be a lengthy process unfortunately.

I was wondering if anyone who had the problem listed above, received any help with correcting this from Dodge ?. I purchased a used Ram with 70,000 miles and no warranty. When I noticed the wet headliner, I had the Ford dealer (where I bought the truck) check for leaks. They said dealer manufacturing defect and I should wait for recall (however long that will take). I called Customer Care @ FCA Group and was told to take truck to a Dodge dealer. That dealer said same as Ford but they'll replace it if i want for $1505 without any guarantee to stop leak. I was in contact with a fella from Ram Cares and was transferred to a case specialist who after a few days, repeated exactly what the dodge dealer said about replacing window for $1505 and told me to hold on to receipt for reimbursement if ever a recall occurs !!!. And that's all folks !! Spend big money for a leaking, wet interior that will start smelling and growing mold but just keep hoping that a recall will happen , if ever. I'm hoping that some lucky person had this problem and got some satisfaction from Dodge and can lead me in the correct direction for a remedy..

If your window is not cracked your leak is the 3rd brake light. It’s easy to replace the gasket with a 10.00 seal you can buy at Lowe’s

You can buy the same weather stripping at Lowe’s and home depot. I used the double bulbed type and no more leaks.

Happy to report that after those torrential downpours we had last week, she's still bone dry! We were even driving down to NC during some of the worst ones Thursday night and not a drop inside the cab.

Guess they fixed it right.

Well after a whole day of back-n-forth with the dealer and their water guy not showing up.. they claim they fixed it. ...3rd Brake light as most predicted.

Supposedly replaced the seal, but in looking down in there, it appears that they black silicon sealed it. There's a thick bead going all the way around. I really don't care as long as it stops leaking...

Guess I'll findout this week, it's supposed to rain / storm for the next 2-3 days.

That is how they fixed mine back in May. Worked well for about 2 months. Had a heavy rain storm while parked in the driveway. It seemed dry, but after actually driving through heavy rains later that day, I had one teeny tiny drip on the window frame on the passenger side near the middle. Did some investigating and pushed on the light and noticed water would squeeze out of the seal when i put pressure on it. Called the dealer and asked them to order a new light assembly. Going in Saturday to get it replaced. Hopefully it won't be a pain to replace since they used black sealant.

My rear plastic trim piece is cracked now. Water is seeping in behind it and around the edges of the slider. The 3rd brake light seal I installed back in May still seems to be working great tho.

That sucks, sorry you have to deal with that. Makes me wonder if it's a question of "when", not "if" they are all going to crack. The vendor who makes these windows also makes them for GM, they are also an issue on the current Silverado/Sierra trucks.
