Rear window surround crack.

Dealership has had my truck since Monday, and now tells me they don't have to replace the window just the third brake light, I mentioned the cracks, they said the leak was coming from the third brake light. I still want that window replaced and highly doubt they tested that theory of the third brake light. What the hell have they been doing this whole time? The window is there, just replace it!
The cracks being visible is clearly a failure in workmanship and should be replaced. There's no way around it (especially if you are in the warrant period).

I would reach out to @RamCares with all of your info and the servicing dealerships.

Leak or not, a cracked window frame is a cracked window frame and should be replaced under warranty.

Like others mentioned, time to bug Ram Cares on this.

Get a Case Specialist. Hopefully Jessica (she's awesome). They will facilitate the deal. Then spend your money at a better dealership in the future.

I dropped my truck off at noon yesterday and they had the window replaced in 4 hours. Took it home the same day. I will be keeping an eye on the new window to see if the cracks come back.

Leak check it regularly. Trust me they will leak with or without cracks. Picking mine up today after the 3rd window replacement.

any 2021 model report any cracks ... have they been redesigned for 21' ....
My New 2021 Rebel with 300 miles started leaking in the heavy rain a few nights ago. I have a new third brake light on order hoping that is the issue not the glass.

I had that issue and tightened the screws a quarter turn more and it solved my issue.

Tape off your TBL and antena and water test it yourself. That sure looks the same as some of my window leaks. The frame doesn't have to be cracked for it to leak.

What year is your Rebel ?
I have a 19 Laramie. I dumped two gallons of water slowly over the brake light and entire length of the rear window and not a drop after tightening the screws. Had the ol lady inside with a flashlight while I was pouring the water.

Quick update. They replaced the third brake light and when they went to install the window, they noticed it was the wrong style window, so they had to reorder a new one, should be here in a couple of weeks. They did mention they tested and that it doesn't leak anymore, but we'll see.

Did you have the cracked frame issue or just a leak ?

It’s nice to hear that there is a new part for the rear window assembly. Is there going to be some sort of special program for those out of warranty to have their defective window assemblies covered by FCA?

My build date is feb 2020 so it looks like it’ll have the old part number which is prone to cracking. I have no visible cracks in the frame but by dealer did have their leak fix company repair a few cracks in the window frame that could only be seen once the headliner was removed. I suspect it’s only a matter of time before they spread and are visible.
