Rear window surround crack.

I noticed on my replacement window replaced a couple months ago (original cracked and replacement cracked, so my third one) that it doesn’t have the ‘knead’ or mould marks that were present on the other 2 windows. The star reports say that those markings aren’t a reason to replace the window but I would love to know if those mould lines indicate a weaker unit vs one that doesn’t show those fine lines in the plastic.

I'll be getting this window replaced as well, dealer got the evidence, FCA approved and a matter of time to schedule the dreaded deal. Will be taking pics of everything beforehand to avoid any he said she said issues with scratches etc. The replacement is very invasive per prior posts, but just another job to the techs and window guy. Hope it goes well

Keep an eye on the paint directly below the window on the outside. I noticed a week later that they scuffed up the paint. Nothing a buffer and a bit of polish compounding couldn’t fix, but they use a weird tool to cut the urethane and it might scuff the paint

I have those lines on both sides on my rear window. No cracks yet. 2020 with 6300 miles. If/when it does crack, I’m going the RTV route and not even going to bother with a replacement. Then if that doesn’t work, I’ll pay out of pocket for a solid window replacement.

Count me into the category of cracks on both sides again above the sliding window after being replaced once under warranty. No leaks that I can see yet but I am going to keep an eye on it and might do the RTV Silicone in the third brake light housing as a precaution.

They replaced mine a few weeks back but not installed properly. The drivers side sits a hair lower and a trim piece is missing. Going in next week to address that and finally the tail gate cable situation. Mine is a 2020 with 3300 miles, cracks were visible at under 2000 miles.

Thank you for the follow up on this, glad to hear your dealer is working with you. I apologize for the delay and I would like to get a parts case escalated on your behalf to try and get that in as soon as possible! Please be sure to follow up with me via private message when you can.

Your honest feedback is truly appreciated, it is great to hear that your dealer has been able to take the appropriate steps to get this process moving for you. I look forward to your next update on this situation, and do not hesitate to send us a private message if needed.

Well, it has been three days since the dealer took pictures and I have heard nothing. I just called the dealer and they are still waiting on the approval to come back. This is unacceptable. Meanwhile it is raining like hell here and the leak continues. Mark @ RamCares, I may need you expertise here. It should not take more than 24 hours at most for a warranty decision. It is a simple, yes answer and should not require any thought here. I have literally only had my truck 5 months and it only has less than 3700 miles on it. There is NO reason this would not be covered. It meets all requirements for a replacement according to the Star bulletin.

The warranty approval is not actually a warranty approval but the OK to have a 3rd party glass shop due the work and be paid by fca. At least that’s what my dealer explained. If the dealer was going to do the work, fca apparently doesn’t have to approve the work. That’s approved at the dealer level

That makes sense. Thanks. :)
Still should not take this long though. :'(

Got my truck back, guys make sure you take lots of pics before handing the truck over!! My passenger door handle is chipped, glue on the rear quarter panel, paint all messed up around rear window from prying it off, glue spilled in the bed with broken glass stuck into it and back of headliner by the rear window is frayed and missing tiny chunks in some areas. Dealership is taking care of door handle but said to go after glass company for headliner and glue in bed. Thats the dealerships problem, not mine. Ram cares specialist called today and ask me to coordinate with the glass company and see if they would repair or cover the costs to remove glue and restore. If not then she said they can work something out. If this new window breaks again, I know a fantastic lawyer here in NY that will not only take care of buy back but ensure I don't lose one penny.

Thanks Mark. I actually received a call back from my dealer this afternoon to let me know the approval has gone through and that the parts are on order. She said when the order was placed, the estimated arrival time is 1-2 weeks. Hopefully it will be sooner. :)

Hopefully this time everything is fixed properly. This is for another thread but I hope that we will be getting new floor mats sometime after they mangle our current ones for the "recall". Thanks Mark.

Smells like a 3rd brake light if you don’t have cracks in the window frame

I got my truck back after a few days at the body shop. It’s not 100% perfect. I’d say it’s about 98%. If I’m being critical, their is still a small dent / crease (which they weren’t sure they could get out). What also looks to be little dust particles under the paint and a couple of tiny thin spots (u really have to look for them) but overall a lot better then it was. I feel that body work will never be as good as the factory (even they aren’t perfect).

I’m still waiting on a couple trim pieces next week. But I’m not worrying about this any further because it’s a lease. Also, I had to clean out the white residue from the honeycomb piece on the side steps.

Just discovered a soaking wet black seat and cracks on both sides of the sliding window. 8k miles, bought in June. Seems like the recommendation here is to seal up around the third brake light after getting the window replaced or even forgoing the replacement. I wonder why that is not part of the fix?

I found a dent with chipped paint on bottom part of my tailgate after washing it. After watching a guy drying the hood of a Jeep when I dropped my truck off I told them please don't wash the truck. Guy was putting a lot of force drying on one specific spot on the hood most likely creating swirls in the clear coat. Probably missed a spot from washing it and figured he'd buff it out with the rag. Can't fix stupid.
The dent with chipped paint blended in with the dust all over the tailgate. I didn't lease mine, bought it. I now wish I leased it so I can turn it back in at the end of the lease and give them the finger. Probably would've got screwed with a lease somehow anyway. My truck is now a work truck and running it like I stole it. Doesn't matter what brand of vehicle you go with, you're stuck dealing with window lickers everywhere you turn, unfortunately. Next truck I buy will be the cheapest one I can find with no extras.

The issues aren’t related
