Anyone know yet if the rear window surround leak and/or the 3rd break leak are fixed in the 2021 rams? Picked one up a couple weeks ago and am wondering if they have addressed these problems. If they have then that would mean anyone needing replacement parts for earlier model years should be able to get them fixed once and for all.

No one really knows yet. 2019 & 2020 RAM and GM trucks with these rear windows (supplied by same vendors) are still leaking on those trucks. But it appears to be in certain batches, there are early builds that don't have leaks and newer ones that do and vice versa.

I check both forums because we have a GM truck as well, and no one has confirmed a new part number or year specific fix.

I finally got a call back from the 'cares' guy. They have no E.T.A. on when either the back glass or the third brake light will be available for my truck. Pretty crappy experience dealing with FCA. I asked what I should do in the mean time and just got silence. What a joke.

I updated my earlier post but it's gone, maybe when site had issues so here it is again. I applied water just around the top of window after installing better gasket on chmsl and window leaks still. I brought truck to dealer Monday showed them the star report and pictures of cracks in top of my window frame visible w light removed. They agree light and window need replacing, they ordered new brake light but said it's at least 5 weeks out because it's a new design due to all the leaking ones(hope this is true). I have appointment with water leak specialist to find any other leaks and they submitted to FCA for new window due to third party glass co install. They also are providing loaner car saying its covered under the 3 yr B to B warranty. I see others are having dealers say loaners not covered. I'm keeping fingers crossed that everything goes as promised. They admitted issues w windows on Rams and some Jeeps.

Mine started the other day so add me to the club. I'm just a hair over 38k miles though. '19, 1500, 2nd owner. Should I even bother going to the dealership (whom I've haven't dealt with before at all) or just try and reach out to FCA and cross my fingers?

The fact that your headliner is wet, you most likely have both leaks; rear window crack and CHMSL. :(
I take it you don't have any extended warranty so don't have any advice whether or not FCA will cover. Maybe one of the RamCares folks on here will have an answer for you or at least some advice. Good luck man, hope you can get it resolved at no cost to you.

My rear window replacement was approved, just waiting on the part. I mentioned my wet wet headliner and the third brake light concern but they said only the window leaked during their tests. I’m not sure how high the crack goes but can the window crack cause a wet headliner? Will let you know how things go. Dealer seems very helpful.

Yes. Water resting on the top of the plastic window frame and will wick to the headliner.

Hate to say it but I’m pretty sure your 3rd brake light is leaking along with the window frame crack leaking.

Can you see any staining in the extreme rear corners of the headliner just above the rear window?

Dusty, was this post meant for Jaguar77? In my case, I only had the window crack with leak on both sides of the slider. I did not have any water in my headliner. Once the window was replaced, I replaced the CHMSL seal with one from Lowes (Marine grade as others have used) befor that started leaking. We had a lot of rain over the last few day and so far no leaks (knocking on wood).

Add me to the list of water leaks. Need to contact the dealer and find out what to do. 2019 rebel with 21,000 miles.

I believe it was meant for you, but then again I have four children and two of them are driving me a little crazy today. (Was it a full moon last night?)

Anyway, in general if the extreme rear corners of the headliner are wet with no signs of staining in the middle, the third brake light is the culprit. There is a stiffener ledge on the inside of the cab roof just below the bottom of the third brake light which doubles as a water dam. That runs across the full width of the rear window. Water from intrusion into the third brake light will collect on this ledge and as the vehicle makes turns will run off the ends of the ledge, dripping on to the inside of the headliner in the corners.

Water stains in the middle are usually caused by water bypassing the upper part of the rear window frame seal anywhere along its length.

The dealer will replace the rear window assembly. The dealers around here do not do this themselves but have a third party specialist contractor perform the replacement. As an FYI the service manual states that after replacement there should be a 24 hour delay in driving the vehicle. This is to allow for cure time of the sealant that is used.

Good luck.

Best regards,
Dusty

You all must have missed the fine-print on your build orders. It clearly states: "...if meteorological conditions produce precipitation greater than 75%, DO NOT place a 2019, 2020, or 2021 Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500 into service and/or general use. Fiat-Chrysler and its subsidiaries cannot be held responsible or held harmless if; giant, ugly water stains form on the headliner, seat coverings become damaged or deformed from dripping water, or rear passengers get wet..."

Update:brought truck in for leak testing and they called saying there is no leak after 2 hours of testing and never ordered brake light even though I had to add a gasket on mine and my window has the cracks. I mentioned the star report also. I told them if I run a hose without nozzle at top of window I get water inside at which point the tech tells me I'm not suppose to run water on it(how do I wash the car then?) I also say it does it every time it rains. After telling him this is unacceptable for a $56k truck they agreed to test for a few more hours. I will never buy another Ram. I had problems with one many years ago I bought new but gave them another chance even though I was warned by many. What am I suppose to do if they say there is no leak?? The carpet gets wet, I can see it drip from window glass, the cab gets all fogged up on the inside, it will start to get mold, and eventually all my electronics back there will get fried. I am not happy at all, this is a well known problem with leaks back there.
