Rear window surround crack.

Dealer confirmed crack/leak, and has to order entire rear window assembly. Had to send pics to Chrysler for approval to order. No ETA.

Mine goes in on Wednesday for the Window confirmation and ordering as well as the new Calipers for the Chewbacca cold braking sound. I am not sure if they will replace the steering wheel leather or call it wear and tear but got my fingers crossed.

I have 2 cracks in mine...

Bought my February 19 build used from an Audi dealer.

Hoping this is a 36k/3 year covered warranty issue that is covered by my local dealer without too much trouble. I also have a pano.

Got truck back from dealer tonight. Dropped off 8 Nov. Replaced entire rear window. Window shipped from vendor and received in less than 5 days. Local shop contracted by dealer did the install. You can faintly see the mold marks, even on new window. Snapped a pic of label from new window box and warranty repair order.

Tonyplants,

Did your new window happen to come pre-tinted? Were you replacing a tinted rear window?

Stopped by at the dealer before lunch today. They will submit pictures to FCA and let me know.

Not 100% positive. The tint looks the same to me. Do they even offer the option from the factory? Part number is 68426398ac, looks like -001 added which doesn't result anything with Googling -001 with the primary.

Did it all look like stock new when they were finished? I hope they offer to re-tint free without giving me grief.

Looked just as it did before. I'm sure if you had aftermarket tinting done, they should do it again free if charge. If not, call RamCares and insist on it. They reimbursed me for a "questionable" R&R for front plastic filler piece-a couple clips were broke, and dealer wasn't going to warranty because I could have hit something and did it myself-which I know I didn't. Love C-Springs, Worked for CONUSNORAD, 1st AF.

The reason I ask about the tinting is that Tint shops I've worked with claim that tinting on top of rear defrosters can stop them from working.

If you want a tinted back window replacement, best get a pre-tinted replacement.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't plan on tinting my rear.

Sounds like you may have been in Bldg 2, or was that a while ago and in the Mountain? Crossing my fingers that they don't break any plastic when they replace the window.

Mountain, TDY there a few times, otherwise I was at Tyndall. Initial impression is everything looks good. My guess is they will contract it out.

Hi FGildred,

I'm sorry to hear that you also are experiencing this. If you are in need of any additional support while addressing this with your dealer, our team is just a PM away.

Took my truck in today for the dreaded crack, was told it’ll be the first week of December before the expect the part to come in. Now here’s the kicker, for me anyways-the vehicle is completely drivable (which it technically is) so “Chrysler” won’t authorize an extended rental. However I have no way of controlling the weather and preventing rain. Not too mention the leak is right where the battery for the e-torque is. Apparently Chrysler doesn’t authorize loaners for repair work. This is where things get strange. My boss has a 19 bighorn with the same issue but his dealer is keeping him in a” loaner” not a rental like I’m in and keeping his truck covered until they get the new part same timeframe. I know dealerships are all different but for one to say it’s not possible, we’re clearly it is. I’m just pissed right now.

They don't put a secondary tint on factory glass. The glass is actually colored and it's called privacy glass.

Took mine in for this and the break squeal yesterday. They replaced the 3rd brake light, no joy. It's going back Monday.
In regards to the brake squeal, I originally took it in back in Sep and they ordered the parts. They called me 2 weeks later when all of the parts came in but I was out of town with my job. I made an appt for yesterday. I drop it off and get a call and he says "we have some bad news, we ordered everything but the brake pads, when can you come in next week?"

My dealership replaced my 3rd brake light because of rear window leak and it rained today and the rear window is still leaking on the rear seat by the headrest. Taking it back Monday.

I re torqued my third brake light screws and so far my head liner has been dry since doing so, moderate rain today and no leak. I'm guessing I did not torque the screws enough when I initially changed out my third brake light bulbs for LED's. Will wait for a torrential rain and retest before I assume the problem is fixed.

We had a moderate rain and I went out to check mine and it was dripping.

1. Placing tint on top of defroster wires has ZERO effect on the defroster - MYTH! Done every day to cars and trucks.
2. You can't order a "tinted" rear window as I believe they are all tinted and the same part number (it is not a film but a colorized glass)
