Mine are crooked....aside from having to slam them shut.

Mine are off kilter AS WELL. Knew this going in, tho, cuz i compared many other units WITH Rambox and they were all same, HOWEVER, the ease of, "shutting them" seem to vary.

When we first went to check out the RAMS that had the, "redesigned Ramboxes" my husband was making fun of me for how it kept springing back up and took many tries to properly shut. It seemed you had to directly shut from the center and exert some extra force on them to make sure they closed "the first attempt".

I was really disappointed they seemed to be a major pain in the neck to use on daily basis if EVERY TIME i used them i was going to have them "talk back" like that, but i ordered my Big Horn with them anyway, just because i loved the new design of them so much, with the plug/ light/ new shallow end etc and just for the sheer added utility.

Well, to my surprise and delight, my March 2019 build (same alignment issue) BUT closing them is a breeze. No need to SLAM or close from center. And no "clunk" when it fully opens either like the others did.

So while i think its prolly pointless to attempt a replacement for the alignment issue (at least and UNTIL a "proven fix" for that becomes available) there just might be some adjustment or part replacement of the mechanism that closes it that y'all might inquire from Service Dept...Because i promise you the ones i looked at & the one i got, operation open/close is "night & day" difference.

Would i get them again? Heck yeah!!! I had passed on having that option on my past 10 RAMS, thinking, those are stupid...lol Well, i have got to say, of every Ram i have ever owned (this is # 20 : ) of every feature i have ever had, RAMBOX is my absolute favoritest : ) Omg, just being able to retrieve things and put things in them every single day with no worries of my open truck door OR having to watch for ppl or or other people's vehicle car doors is soooooooooooo convenient. Love them to pieces!

Mine was built JULY 5th 2019 -- and passenger I have to "slam" :(

I worked on 2 4th gens last week and I was able to play around with their RAMBOX's .. VERY impressed!

I showed the Sales Manager and the Aftermarket Manager today .. also the paint chips, etc., and the missing "post mounts" for the bed extender (to be used over the opened tailgate.)

Once they contact FCA and either have them replaced or not, then I'll rip mine apart and see if either of my "thoughts" come to light regarding the flexing of the lids themselves.

It is my belief that the missing post mounts is intentional. Ram doesn’t advertise it as a bed extender on the 5th Gen trucks. I believe that is because the tailgate is made of aluminum now and doesn’t have the load carrying capacity the 4th gen trucks had. They don’t want a bunch of weight sitting on that weaker tailgate while driving down the road and hitting bumps

No, it's actually due to safety regulations and taillight visibility. This has been discussed extensively on old threads.

Thanks, all .. I'll pass that along to my sales/aftermarket/management team .. guess I missed those original posts (most likely since I only joined here a couple months ago).

My replacement truck arrived yesterday so went and had a look... yikes... those RAMbox's are just slapped in there. Off on every corner. Had better panel gaps on my old Lada. Tailgate also off so much that it's practically rubbing on one side. Was also missing those bed extender pegs (apparently they are supposed to be included in Canada I'm told?). Asked dealer to take care of all that before I take delivery.

At least the tailgate alignment is an easy fix:

Nice! Thanks for the link! That is EXACTLY what is happening with my new one. Hopefully the dealer can figure it out before they chip the paint or else they'll have to locate me another truck.

Hi OttawaRAM,

I’m very sorry to hear this. I suggest contacting our Canadian Customer Care team to have this documented. You may find their contact information by clicking on the following link and scrolling down to the "Canada" tab: https://www.fcagroup.com/en-US/footer/Pages/contacts.aspx.

Well picked up the new truck last night and guess I wasn't too surprised that the RAMboxs are just as bad as before I asked the dealer to fix them. To be fair though, their body shop hasn't had a look at fixing them yet since they are at a different location. I may try fixing them myself while waiting for an appointment at the body shop.

Anyone know how to get the driver side Rambox electrical clip off? Trying to readjust the Rambox lids but can’t seem to get the drivers side clip off. I got the passenger side off pretty easy but the driver side is being a PITA.

Were you able to properly align/fix the passenger side one when you had it off?

Yea I got them both aligned perfectly but now you have to really slam them to get them to shut. Same problem the dealership had when they tried to realign them. It seems like it’s either gonna be aligned but needs a good slam to shut, or look like $h!t but close smoothly, you can’t have both. All I did was move the latch part to the most bottom centered position.

Didn't have to move/remove any of those metal washer spacers on the bottoms?
Thanks!

They are the same with a (red, I believe) safety latch that has to be moved to one side. Then you press the plastic catch and it will disconnect.
