RAM AC poor performance TWITTER/FACEBOOK

Hi everyone,
There was an issue with the TSB (24-001-19) where all of the VINs were not included. This has been corrected and the dealer system has been updated to reflect this change. I have reposted the TSB below. Please check to see if your build date falls within this TSB. If it does, please send us a private message to ensure this is handled appropriately and we can get you in contact with someone who will work with your dealer towards a resolution. If you do not fall within the build dates and are experiencing this, please send our team a private message as we would like to make sure we have this properly documented to pass on to the appropriate parties. We do apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.

To that account directly, however unless your truck is in the shop or you plan to bring it in - dm'ing them it seems is fairly pointless. All the DM will help with is if your dealer is not being helpful in the matter of servicing your truck, they have the ability to reach out to the dealer directly and expedite things. Or at least that is what I gathered after DM'ing them.

Best thing you can do is have your dealer confirm the AC is working as it should then have them notate your not satisfied with it so that can be brought up the chain by the dealership.
Folks - FACEBOOK & TWITTER! Make this issue public! This forum is not helping us aside from documenting our frustrations. We have to use other means. Someone needs to start making a list. Maybe we should work towards a class-action lawsuit or some sort of remedy. That will get their attention.

People that could get this TSB applied still find fault in the A/C system, so this is not a solution or has the programming changed?

Hi James Cole,
Anyone who has had this TSB completed and still has this A/C concern, please send us a private message stating this with your VIN.

I’ve had the TSB completed on my vehicle yet I still continue to have a poor performing AC unit in my brand new, 45K vehicle! If it’s 90’s degrees outside or hotter I’m lucky if my cab cools within 15-20 minutes of driving.
Like I have stated before I have TWO brand spanking new vehicles. My new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee will freeze you out of the cabin! Why doesn’t my truck do the same? I LIVE IN TEXAS. Do you know how hot it gets down here?

SOMETHING ISN’T RIGHT!

If a permanent fix isn’t found we will all be forced to seek other action against Chrysler.

Hi Sbroussard69,
We would like to get a case opened to ensure that this is documented and passed along to the appropriate parties. Please send us a private message with your VIN so that we can get this process started.

The TSB does nothing. My truck was built in April and has this problem.

You can't fix a mechanical flaw with a computer flash. Ram is clearly ignoring what they are seeing here. People have already figured out what the problem is, and have started modifying it themselves. This is ridiculous.

Hi whetrick1, FirstimeRAM and Randytartt,
We regret to hear that you are experiencing this as well. As mentioned to your fellow forum members, If you decide to continue working with your dealers to address this, our team would be happy to escalate a case for you to add additional assistance throughout this process. Please send our team a private message if this is an avenue you would like to pursue!

The dealers need engineering support from FCA to resolve the issue. When we take the truck into the dealer, how do we connect the dealer with FCA engineers directly without having to go through your 'escalation' process? FCA has the lead in fixing this issue not the dealers.

I’ve already done this. To you directly.

I'm suppose to pick mine up Monday. I sent the TSB info to the dealer this morning and told them if the AC is not functioning correctly I would not take final delivery as I believe I'm within my rights to do so. I haven't heard anything yet.

I'd be interested to hear if the TSB fixed any ac issues?

Hi Newguy,
Your dealer does have the ability to reach out to the STAR team. Having a case escalated ensures your dealer is using all resources available to them.

Hi Sbroussard69,
I do apologize. I did find the public post where you provided your VIN. We do not recommend posting VINs publicly as they are attached to your personal information. I have documented this for you. However, I do need some additional information from you so we can have your case escalated for further investigation.

Here is my idea for a bypass of heater core that gives you complete control and won't affect pressures or flow rate. If you decide to try it, you do at your own risk. At least it will get us relief through the summer until absolute solution with proven results is created by Ram engineers. Do not cut factory hoses. That way you can totally revert to stock at any time. IMG_3083.jpg

Great work on the heater core bypass. I’m curious if you guys have any thoughts on why this blend issue would be a problem for some and not for others. Are you thinking a part is bad on some of the trucks, if so which part would you guess? It doesn’t appear from reading the above posts that software is fixing the issue. It can’t be a complete design flaw/fail because in some instances it works (although when whatever part it is fails it wreaks havoc). Just curious if you have been able to further diagnose.

Was it confirmed the TSB resolved someone's issue?

Really thinking it's an issue across the board, some are just more sensitive than others to the air conditioning performance. 48-52 degrees may seem "fine" to some. I may be wrong, but most that have said their air conditioning is fine, have not given a temperature test, and don't need to, because it feels "fine".Then you have things that can make a difference in
vent temperatures, like ambient temps, rpm of the truck And humidity. My belief is that it is a design flaw, which is the worst issue to have because it's very very hard to resolve.

That would make much more sense to me. I have to temp test mine. It hasn’t been consistently hot enough here yet for me truly know how mine performs since I haven’t gone through a summer yet.

Yes, temps around the country haven't gotten hot enough to show the weak A/C of this trucks... I don't believe anyone has a proper working A/C in their 19.
